  1. He's one of those heart and soul type of players that every team needs but not every team has. Worth mentioning his outstanding work in the community and his mentoring of younger players. Deserves all the recognition he gets
  2. Some of the posters on demonland should probably take a moment to reflect on some of the overly strong posts re hogan and the recent trivial issues on his break in WA. We were told his dads health had deteriorated.
  3. Who cares if he was injured 4 months ago. Clearly he needs to rehab better or get match fit and sharpness at Casey. Agree he will get better by seasons end but why pick him until then? Give him 100 percent game time at Casey until he is back to his peak
  4. Refer to quote below on MFC website from Dom Tyson. King isn't likely to play. Looks like Frost, Pedersen, and Watts will shoulder the work load which makes sense ... DOM Tyson says Cam Pedersen looms as the most likely option to come in and help Melbourne’s ruck situation, given Max Gawn (hamstring) and now Jake Spencer (AC joint) are sidelined until after the mid-season break. Speaking on 1116 SEN on Wednesday, Tyson said Melbourne had to be inventive in the ruck in the coming weeks. “It’s a tough one and a match committee conundrum. We’ve got options. Cam Pedersen is doing some good things down at Casey and there is Sam Frost, who is super athletic,” he said. “Wattsy (Jack Watts) has been doing a good job [as a support ruckman] and it gets him involved, up around the ball, because he’s a great ball user and classy around there. “We’ve got a young fella, Mitch King, who has just come back off an ACL and he’s played one game for Casey, but it’s probably too big of an ask to tell him to really step up. The readymade ones are probably Cam Pedersen.” .”
  5. DEMON David, you can go to http://www.melbournefc.com.au/ for official MFC coaches comments, The forum is for poster / supporters opinions
  6. He does need a spell at Casey to work on his fitness, ball use, movement and speed at the contest. Often flat footed when he gets it, is predictable with his attempts to evade and is more easily tackle than in the past.. Might still play however as our other mids look like they are going to pull up sore.
  7. Agree with most of this post. Would have frost in the ruck however. Pederson to assist and Watts plays forward all day and provides the composure we need. Kent won't play didn't do enough at Casey. Maynard might be a smokey. Seems to be getting it in midfield a bit but might a little early. Stats are looking good recently
  8. Not sure which games you watched last year plus geelong and richmond are top of the ladder
  9. All coaches have favourites like everyone else. We all value footy attributes (hardness, marking, tackling etc) differently and therefore players differently, Coaches are no different but do have the responsibility to not mark a players cards too early and give them the chance to develop. Melkshem is a favorite. He recruited him as he thinks highly of him. Goodwin will stick with him a little longer than most to see if he can turn it around after not playing for a long time. Maybe an opportunity in the midfield will kick him into gear but has been uninspiring so far
  10. Jkh was poor at best but was slightly better in the 2nd half. 1 kpi isn't enough. Would give him another chance given he is adjusting back to afl level. Tyson needs to go back to Casey and sharpen his ball use, movement and speed around stoppages. Often flat footed when he gets it which might also suggest fitness issues
  11. Can't believe we are still banging on about King coming in. He is coming back from major surgery and needs to get confidence in his body and match fit. Refer below "... going to take a bit of time to build him back into full match time". It would be irresponsible to play him this week or next for that matter. Kings career and well being needs to be considered. Don't want him to have another knee problem. Positive news is he seems to have had a good game in his return. Few more weeks of that and he might be a chance http://m.melbournefc.com.au/news/2017-04-25/vfl-player-review-round-two
  12. Zero chance of pendles going anywhere. He is captain and doesn't need to chase a flag like others that don't
  13. Re some of the suggestiins: King did his knee and It typically takes someone until their 2nd year back to be at their best and he isn't match fit for vfl let alone afl. Likewise hibberd was excellent but he is just getting match fit and will struggle in the midfield. Would like to see Weideman have some time in the vfl. Hasn't shown much. So Pederson for Smith. Frost in the ruck given he has height, can jump, and has played backup ruck. Pedo and Watts to support. T Mac didn't have a great day but is still one of the league's best tall defenders and would start him on Daniher. Riewoldt would have kicked a bag on most defenders last night and was all class. Midfield needs a bit of make over to get up for this week. Lewis will give us fresh legs but we will likely need other changes for the sake getting in fresher legs with a short break. Kennedy, Bugg etc should be considered. JKH wasnt great but needs another chance. Was a little better in the 2nd half. Harmes needs to play forward as he can take a good mark for his height. Would like to see Vince back in the midfield. Tyson needs a spell at Casey or needs to get his body and fitness right. Melksham gets one more week against his old team. Perhaps see what he can do in the midfield also. Should have fresh legs given his output. Salem to go back in defence more. Go dees. Very winnable
  14. Frost is the only option to ruck. Tall enough and can jump. Oscar can take his spot in the back half. Although essendon don't have too many talls other than daniher so we may not need him. Pedersen to replace Smith and give Frost a break along with Watts
  15. Good summation of our dumb intensity. Composure comes as smart young players learn from their experiences. Although there is a growing sample that a SMALL number might not or simply don't have the skills under pressure
  16. Makes it harder for him when he is the only tall option with watts in the ruck. Got double teamed. Bit hard on hoges.
  17. Would prefer to see average per game down back. Numbers like that can be misleading
  18. Our list is relatively young so there is time for players to become A graders. Some of out talent is ahead of schedule. Oliver, Viney, Hogan, Petracca, and perhaps Hunt will be A graders in time. Would love to know how many chest marks we dropped however. I know it was wet be we seemed to have holes in our arms at times. Maybe the Lloyd can help
  19. We can play Pedo and Oscar as the 2nds tall up forward and back. That will release Frost to play as 1st ruck with support of both Pedo and Watts. Just hope Pedo and Oscar take their chance in the reserves this week.
  20. Would take him over Tim Smith. Looks like a fish out of water.
  21. The outcome might be minor, but why would you place yourslef under that sort of scrutiny. Can't be the sharpest tool in the shed
  22. Its an awesome sponsorship for MFC members. I've bought multiple pair of runners for me and the family. Covers a good chunk of the cost of membership just with the savings
  23. Not sure that that is the case. Good deeds tend to get rewarded. You could argue that having Reach on the back would have created exposure and awareness re the sponsorship opportunities that the jumper provides. PJ at the AGM impied (can't remember exact words) that we were going to sign someone up soon. The lack of communication from the club on this matter makes this doubley (pretty sure this isn't a real word) annoying!
  24. Seems lots of people are having a crack at Chip. I will offer an alternative view. If he left during or 1st or 2nd rebuild I would have felt comfortable accusing him of a lack of loyalty given he was well paid during that time. I don't think its fair on any player for that matter to have to endure 3 rebuilds and be expected to blindly accept that this one is the one that works and by the way you have already wasted much of your career here while dim wits that couldn't manage, coach or recruit with any degree of success want you to believe the house is in order. We failed the players during those times and I don't think its fair to criticise someone who endured most of it before then deciding to leave for some certainty. He got his flag. I blame those at the club in the pre PJ era 100% for his departure.
  25. True. However we should be ok, most teams don't have a quality 3rd tall forward and its less of a concern with zone defence.
