  2. Dusty with almost double Dangers votes for MVP, the man has had an insane season.
  3. Goy impressed me a heap this year. Didn't get a lot a senior games but did well in the ones he played in. He tore it up in the development league, and was rewarded with winning the development league Best and Fairest last night. Funny story, somehow no one was told he was going to win it and was actually training at Casey at the time the award was given to him, so the trainers at Casey had to yank him out of the shower, send him home to get changed into a suit and rushed him to Crown to accept the medal. Anyway, the abolishment of the Dev league might hurt his chances, but hopefully he stays on Caseys list and gets more VFL games next season. I don't think he has shown enough to be drafted just yet, but he has the skills and class to definitely be looked at, and if he plays well next year he might be picked up for the 2019 season.
  4. So I've watched a lot of VFL football the last 3 years so I feel I can add to this discussion. Gus is a great VFL player but that's it. I'm not sure how old he is but he isn't young, and unless you had an amazing year at his age like Tim Smith did you won't get picked up. Even then, there are better players on Caseys list I would pick first. I don't think he's ever made the VFL state team or done well at any of the award nights which is usually a good indication if they can make it to an AFL list. Like I said, a good VFL player but nothing more.
  5. How so? Maynard was decent in his debut and should be great next season Joel Smith will be great at AFL level if he can get his injuries under rap Tim Smith showed good signs Stretch last season played some great senior footy Keilty could be knocking down the door if everything goes well over preseason If Wagner is in form he can do his role well Frost is a gun Mckenna showed great signs at the Giants although unproven at AFL level VDB is good at AFL level Kennedy although not great at seniors still can do a job Kent was great in 2016 Im probably missing many more How the hell is that not good depth?
  6. I'm sorry but how can you possibly come to this conclusion? For the last 6 to 7 years, every team that has won the Grand Final has fielded very strong seconds teams, proving that good depth most definitely = a strong seconds side and vice versa. What? Yes they do. Every AFL team fields a seconds team in either the VFL, SANFL, WAFL or NEAFL. Not only that, but they recently have been a pretty good indicator for AFL success. Footscray won the 2016 VFL flag, and look what their senior side did. Sydney's seconds have been a powerhouse for years. The Giants won lasts years NEAFL Flag and they came close to playing in a premiership last year. Brisbane beat Sydney in this years NEAFL premiership, and although weren't a strong AFL team, many believe they have improved immensely this season and have some of the best youth development in the competition. Box Hill was always up the top during Hawthorns domination. I don't really follow the SANFL or WAFL so I can't speak of their successes with reserve sides. I know you guys are hurting, I am too, but our depth is pretty good when looking at all the indicators which show just as much. With a couple of delistings, trades, and recruiting over the off season, it is only going to get better. Melbourne hasn't been in this good of a position for 10 years! Why are a bunch of you still so god damn cynical? I don't understand.
  7. He just won the VFL's "Best Up and Coming Young Player" Something like the last 14 years, every player to win this award has been drafted.
  8. The kid can play, gets some amazing hang time and for a smaller bloke is a great contested mark. For those saying he isn't good enough, you obviously did not watch a lot of VFL games this year because he is insanely talented. Put a couple of AFL pre seasons into him and when he fills out and puts on some weight he'll be a beast. Plus there's one thing about being drafted to the MFC that a lot might not realise, is that the club primarily go for 2 apsects in a bloke (apart from footy skills) This isn't speculation, I heard this come directly from Goodwin at the start of the season: 1) They must have a huge want to play AFL and 2) have a great, friendly, likeable personality. Look at guys like Hannan, T.Smith and Keilty, came from tough pathways to get onto an AFL list (having to play VFL whilst working full time jobs) and have great personalities. Fritsch fits those aspects perfectly. Get him in.
  9. Our depth is no where near as bad as a lot of you are making out to be, sure it could always improve but how about taking a realistic look at it rather then a knee-jerk reaction this entire site seems to be having after missing out on finals. 1) Melbourne had/has one of the longest injury lists out of any team this season, even though not a lot of those players were best 22, they were most definitely great depth players 2) A lot of those injured players would primarily have been playing VFL this season, yet Casey still managed to make it to a Semi-Final, where apart from 1 terrible quarter, nearly beat a team with almost a complete list of AFL listed players, and whose seniors look likely to be playing in the AFL Grand Final 3) The MFC passed on a lot of mature players last year, Dunn, Newton, Jones, Terlich, Michie, Grimes. Maybe not great at AFL level but definitely great VFL/Depth players, yet the VFL still made finals. 4) The whole team is still very young and in a development phase, it would have been nothing short of greatness to win a final this year. Just look at how many players in the best 22 are 25 years old or under, that is a huge upside. Maynard looks likely to get more senior games next year. JKH reminds me of Neal-Bullen last year, killed it in the VFL but did nothing at AFL level. Look at what ANB has done this year so don't write off JKH yet. Kennedy very unlucky not to get any games this season. Stretch is still developing. Johnstone hugely improved towards the end of the season. Keilty has been playing great footy. Tim Smith showed great signs before being injured. Weideman is only 20 years old!!! For a KPF he still has a long way to go but the way some of you are talking about him his driving me mad, Wagner has only been on the list 2 years don't forget, Kingy after coming off a big injury did some great ruck work this season, Joel Smith can play AFL, VDB and Mckenna got unlucky with injury. I'm probably missing some players but god dammit, you guys need to relax. 2018 will be a good year.
  10. Apart from a terrible second quarter we were pretty good today considering the odds were heavily stacked against us. Next year expect Casey to have a big impact again
  11. Dude this isn't the thread to be toxic, keep that somewhere else Leave this thread to talking about the game
  12. God dammit Dec hes getting to the right spots but butchering his ball use, he's been better then this all season the pressure and perceived pressure must be insane out there, everyone's turning it over
  13. Hulett not playing. Just saw him walk into the stands with normal clothes on
  14. Just arrived at the ground It is a gorgeous day down here and the ground looks in tip top shape Should be a great day for footy
  15. Well the game will be on TV, and given how the Tigers are travelling there might be a large amount of opposition supporters there. But North Port Oval (or whatever it's called these days) is a fantastic ground to spectate so if the weather is alright, I'd definitely go down. Plus good chances you'll run into a few of the regular senior players and/or coaches who will be there.
  16. Tomorrow scares me. Richmond have a very strong team, and they will absolutely be feeding off the Tigers win tonight, especially since those boys will be fighting for a spot in an AFL prelim. Casey are gonna have to bring everything to win this game.
  17. This is gonna be a tough one for the boys, Richmond have almost a full list and with them in the AFL finals, they basically all qualify. Should be an entertaining game at the very least.
  18. Jack absolutely bleeds Red and Blue. I know a lot of people have differing opinions on Jack as a player, but he loves this club more than any of you realise. There's no way he'd voluntarily change clubs, and since he is still contracted he isn't going anywhere.
  19. Pretty hard to know unless you're an AFL recruiter, but I know for a fact that the MFC players hope he gets drafted by us. Not only is he freakishly talented for his size, but he has great personality and the boys love him.
  20. Dude this is a thread to talk about today's game, get this toxic rubbish out of here
