  1. Bull just hurled someone into the ground with 1 arm it was glorious
  2. Casey with the first 2 goals, the second from a beautiful intercept and 50 metre kick from JKH
  3. From what I can see these are the MFC boys playing- Keilty, Baker, Filipovic, JKH, T. Smith, King, Petty, Balic, Weideman, Johnstone, Kent Might have missed 1 or 2
  4. Just arrived. Absolutely beautiful day here in Casey, slight wind across the ground. Nice and warm though, gonna be a pain to play footy in. The Port boys are currently finishing their warmup, the Demons still in the change rooms.
  5. PETER JACKSON VFL 2018 - PRACTICE MATCH CASEY DEMONS v PORT MELBOURNECasey Fields Saturday 10th March, 2018 at 12.00pm Game Length: 4 x 25 minute 'flat' quarters (no time on) Casey will play their second Practice match for the 2018 season today, the first with the inclusion of MFC listed players. We haven't had any news of team selection but once I'm am at the ground later this morning I will be sure to keep this forum updated on who is playing. If you have any questions throughout the game please don't hesitate to ask.
  6. Maxy going to the AA Ruckman again this year
  7. What a quarter! Jones and Oliver on fire, Fritsch looking good, Bernie with a few hard knocks Damn that's a big score line
  8. Melbourne could do really well this year fantasy wise I think. I've got Clarry in my team, because he is still fairly cheap with the ability to get to the 105-110 score average that the premium players have. Fritsch is a great rookie option, as he looks well on his way to play Round 1 and can definitely score high with his marking and goal sense. Joel Smith will make you a lot of cash if he can string games together as well. I've also got Dec in for obvious reasons. Other than Hibberd we probably don't have any great defenders for Fantasy because they all share a role and we aren't reliant on one on great key back. Will definitely be keeping an eye on tonight's players scores to see if there's anyone else that'd worth a try.
  9. Alright let's do this. The Rookie list was originally brought in to the AFL in 1997 to allow clubs to have young, developing, cheaper players on their list, as well as filling a gap when AFL lists size's went from 52 to 42 players in 1994. They eventually added Catergory 'B' rookies who are basically international players or players from other sporting codes, again for a cheaper price. This is how AFL lists are currently structured 38 Senior Players, up to 6 'A' Rookies and up to 3 'B' Rookies for a Max of 47 players or 39 Senior Players, up to 5 'A' Rookies and up to 3 'B' Rookies for a Max of 47 players or 40 Senior Players, up to 4 'A' Rookies and up to 3 'B' Rookies for a Max of 47 players After a lot of tweaks and changes this is what the current rules for Rookie List's ultimately mean: 'A' Rookies are on the same base payment as Senior Listed draftee's 'A' Rookies can be played in the AFL with no restrictions 'B' Rookies are still International/Other Sports players who are on different pay levels 'B' Rookies are only eligible to play in replace of someone on the Long Term Injury list or a Retired player Rookie's are only given 12 month contracts, and in order to give a Rookie a longer contract they must be upgraded to the Senior List The AFLPA are moving in a direction where they want Rookie list's to be abandoned all together, and have a 46 man Senior List, which looks likely to occur within the next couple of years. What does all this mean for the MFC? Melbourne currently have 40 Senior Listed players, 4 'A' Rookies and 0 'B' Rookies, which mean any of the 44 players are eligible to play a Senior game at any time.
  10. Yes. I believe about 14 MFC players give or take a few will be running out for Casey on Saturday.
  11. Oh damn Glad I'm going to watch, will be good too see him have a hit out
  12. I hear he impressed a lot this preseason so they'll give him a few chances before dropping him I suspect
  13. If you're thinking about having a fantasy team this year I highly recommend AFL Fantasy over SuperCoach. I think it is a better scoring system and has an easier app/online game to use. Also because it is the official Fantasy game of the AFL, the stats are shown on the AFL app as well as live during the games, and referenced in the AFL news as well.
  14. Does anyone here play AFL Fantasy instead of SuperCoach? If yes I'd love to join your league
  15. Yeah I'm not sure why they aren't playing MFC players in the first practice match. As for the Casey list, only about 15 are training full time with them, with the rest being topped up from players in local leagues. Consider this unlikely situation, Melbourne get 20+ players out with injuries/suspension etc in a season. Then imagine Casey have a large injury list themselves. That leaves Casey's list basically unable to play so they still need a large number of players on their list.
  16. Thanks for the kind words mate. Now for the players. Maynard: Dude is a machine and an impressive athlete, he did play basketball at the top level don't forget. He's only been back playing footy for a couple of years so he's still learning the little things about his craft but I'd expect him to rotate through that large midfielder group throughout the year. King: It's hard to judge developing Ruckmen. He played a couple of good games for Casey last year in the second half of the season after starting slowly (he even had to play a couple of games in the Development side) Probably still a fair way off. J. Smith: Similar to Maynard, but he is more of an aerial player than a midfielder. Coming off a couple of nasty injuries but he showed what he can do at senior level last year so expect to see him get more games especially in the second half of the season. Filipovic: Same as King, but even further away. Nothing he did throughout last year really showed me he has what it takes to compete at AFL level but he is still only young and Ruckmen take a long time to develop.
  17. Well no, Casey still have about 30 on their list. But he is correct, no Melbourne listed players are playing, and Williamstown aren't fielding their full senior list, playing essentially their reserves side.
  18. The hell dude, why tag me in something to give me a back handed slap?
  19. Nevs not injured, he did both the International Series and AFLX so they rested him because he has already done enough work load this preseason
  20. We've definitely come a long way from people calling for his delisting 15 months ago He was a great VFL player his first season, you could see he had some great ability. Hopefully he can take it to another level this year.
  21. I can't talk this guy up enough. Some of the marks and goals he took last year were unbelievable. If he can emulate that in the AFL he will soon become a fan favourite. Kid is a gun.
