I get it. I've been exposed to so much poor spelling and expression over the past two decades and as a consequence am now convinced my use of the English language grows worse each day.

Tell me you haven't been thinking about it Old? -

And that's a pretty sound approach. Just because Bailey failed doesn't mean the basic premise of getting games into a team is wrong. -

I think that's a gross simplification of Bailey's strategy. He also had thoughts on ball movement, leadership and the importance of kicking. I'm not sure he sat down in his job interview and said I'll "just get a group of youngsters together and get games into them as a group". I'm probably sounding like a broken record for anyone who has read my posts over the years but I'm amazed at the black and white thinking that so many on here apply to football. Even more so it appears, when reflecting on the past. -

The exciting thing for me is that a lot of our elite young talent is maturing quickly. Hogan in his second year is capable of taking on any key defender in the league. Brayshaw, Oliver and Salem have adjusted very quickly to the pace of senior football over the past three years. You suspect Petracca will do the same. vandenBerg is a mature aged recruit. There's quality football left in Jones and Vince and Garlett, Jetta and Garland should be in their prime now. McDonald, Viney, Tyson, Kent, Gawn and Bugg are nearing their prime. Watts is giving every indication he might have just become a player. It would be great to think our current core can have a crack while Vince and in particular Jones are still playing meaningful football. And there's nothing like being a top 4 team to keep a veteran hungry in their twilight years. I genuinely believe we're a second key tall forward (Weideman?) and a couple of quality outside runners (Stretch hopefully) away from being a very well balanced, combative combination. The addition of Prestia at the end of the year would certainly fast-track the process. -

MATCH PREVIEW & TEAM SELECTION - ROUND 2, 2016
Goodvibes replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
It's a different team. It's a different vibe. The adjustment is hard but old dee is leading the way. We've named a well rounded, hard at the contest 22 against a team that is coming to terms with a new coach, new gameplan and an array of top up players. I don't care how many Essendon tragics are marching to the ground, this is a game where we should rightfully expect our team to show their superiority and smash the opposition. -
I think the key point is that a few of us here on Demonland are enjoying following the Dees at the moment and are struggling with the idea that Hogan's departure to Fremantle is even a narrative at all that alone one that you seem intent on attaching to our Round 1 victory.

MATCH PREVIEW & TEAM SELECTION - ROUND 2, 2016

It's ok. I've got a plan for Daniher. He's on my ultimate footy bench. Time for him to start. His chances of having a good game against us will consequently plummet. -
You know that feeling we all had on Saturday when Watts was dominating, spinning out of trouble, taking on all-comers, handballing intuitively and Vandenberg, the happy recipient dribbled his snapped through courtesy of a strong Jesse Hogan shepherd? Remember the jubilant outpouring of emotion that followed that goal, both on and off the field? Did you enjoy the surge of adrenalin that goal created? Well, your posts regarding the imminent departure of the most important player to walk into our club in the last two decades is basically the antithesis of that very feeling. Why are you seemingly taking pleasure in sucking any positivity out of a supporter base that has endured more than they deserve. And you're doing it based on his tone in an interview. Seriously.

Feeling confident. 12 goal win. -
I'm sorry Nasher but our code of conduct is very clear. Personal abuse will not be tolerated.

I dare someone to draw up a Best 22 with Hurley and Prestia in it.

He would certainly fill one of the few remaining pieces in our jigsaw. I'm a big fan.

Fox Footy Roundtable - Melbourne
Goodvibes replied to Delusional demon 82's topic in Melbourne Demons
That's a damning assertion given the club has just given a contract extension to a coach who has already been at the club 6 years. At what point is it reasonable to expect that Hardwick will sort a proper game plan? I can't see Richmond improving this year. -
This is almost identical to my team with one exception. I'd leave out Frost and play the extra runner. In this case, against a speedy opponent I'd give Matt Jones a run. Will be really interesting to see if we select Pedersen, Frost, Watts and Hogan all in the same team. Most here, seem to think we will.

I like the 2016 leadership group. I'm also looking forward to the year when Viney, Brayshaw, Hogan, Gawn, McDonald and Salem form the leadership group.

I remember exactly where I was when I heard the news. It was the cruellest of cruel pre-seasons.

We should rest Gawn, Hoges and Salem for the Dogs
Goodvibes replied to Deespicable's topic in Melbourne Demons
I thought when I was typing all that that my memory could very well be wrong. It was definitely Balme which of course means it was pre knee. I really am starting to get old. I repeat stories, reminisce about the old days and make more sense of dee-luded's posts than I did a decade ago. Thanks for setting the record straight. -

Goodvibes replied to Deespicable's topic in Melbourne Demons
I remember when the Ox had played a ripper shortly after returning from his third knee and we'd had a comfortable victory, Daniher was asked why he didn't give the Ox a rest and ensure he didn't get injured. Daniher's reply was simple. "I just like watching him play". The OP may well be right but where's the fun in that? -
Angus Brayshaw's knee injury (minor strain - 4 weeks)

I'm sorry DC, you've officially reached your 10 post maximum on Richmond Doctor references. -
Many posters listing Hogan, Frost, Pedersen and Watts in their teams. Am I the only one who thinks this is one tall too many? For mine Pedersen, Watts and Frost are fighting for two spots and given the second ruck responsibility, more to the point Pedersen is up against Frost.

Sorry, I thought I'd already confirmed. I'm definitely keen to go again.
