  1. Is that what you took out of my post?
  2. Tell him you want him back as soon as possible because he's a very important part of the team. Tell him he'll be straight back in and the harder he works the quicker it will be. Give him a reason to be enthusiastic about his recovery. Make him feel wanted, not a failed product for 2017. Don't put him out to pasture and take away his motivation. Tell him he can be part of something really special and finish the year on a high and achieve with the team. Give the kid something, don't take it away.
  3. We are a middle ranked defence. We are 9th in the league for points against. But we've found a couple of stats that allow us to say we are the worst. We're not. And guess what. The usual suspects are using a few stats that relate to the whole backline to isolate Oscar and to a lesser degree Frost to again state their views. No mention of Jetta, Hibberd, Hunt, Salem, Lewis (our backline general and on field coach), Vince or anyone else who has played there. The problem is Oscar folks, you heard it here first. No mention of a midfield that isn't applying pressure, no talk of zones, just a couple of stats to freshen up the weekly Oscar attack. And the stats don't even relate directly to Oscar! Go figure. I like Oscar, much criticised here by many and I'm as confident he'll turn into a quality tall defender as the detractors say he won't. I think he's pretty good now and will get better. And just as STMJ is confident that Jnrmac's criticism of Oscar will fall on deaf ears I'm confidnet my position won't change one view. My main interest in the Oscar debate now is how many more ways his detractors will find to lay the blame for our failures on him even if their evidence doesn't relate to him.
  4. Thanks Nasher but I don't trust Qantas to get me their on time.
  5. Warning: Qantas flight 1503 has been delayed until 12.10pm so if you are on that flight you will miss a chunk of the game.
  6. If you are on Flight 1503 to Hobart from Melbourne this morning the flight has been delayed until 12.10pm meaning that you'll miss the start of the game. I've cancelled my attendance. Interestingly I've received nothing from Qantas - they have my phone number and email. Their phone service was still saying 10.30am departure (at 8.15am) but the website says 12.10pm. Rang 131313 and they have promised me a full refund within 10 business days without argument. Very disappointing.

  8. what did the article say Dazzle?
  9. St. Kilda didn't! Thank you Saints.
  10. Saty who other than the FD will drive it? Isn't the fun of a fan forum trying to anticipate what they'll do and discuss options? Nobody here is silly enough to think the FD is influenced by what is said here.
  11. Hey Old Dee, did you miss my question or are you just dodging it? How many times have you seen Weideman play live at Casey. I'm just trying to put context around your comment that if he wasn't an MFC player he'd be playing in the Development League. On face value that seemed an extravagant call but not if you've seen him regularly. Care to answer me and explain your view?

  13. I've just watched the replay and it's interesting how differently you see things compared with how you saw them at the game. For me it's excellent because I sit in the Southern Stand so to get the Northern Stand perspective is excellent. But to my point. I think Oscar does have a weapon - he gets the ball all the time. He reads the play very well and that makes him very valuable. And against PA he made very few mistakes. A couple of kicks and a couple of spoils (now there's a new one to have a go at him for) were not ideal but otherwise he was just plain good. I'd much rather he got the ball 23 times a game and made important spoils than got 6 kicks a game and not a spoil in sight. I could make some other observations about other players but who cares really, we won; end of story. Now for North.
  14. Thanks for that Drunkn. We expect far too much of our young players. I made the mistake of writing ANB off at the end of last season. I'd written Hunt off. I'd written Jetta off. I had Stretch with a bullet. It's very easy to get young players wrong because firstly we don't see them all that much and secondly some just take a lot longer to progress than others. I was quite buoyed by Weids stats. He had 11 handballs and some kicks. He was clearly involved. He's not a mark it or it's all over player. I think he'll take time but I think he has a lot of attributes. If he plays with Hogan/Watts/McDonald he'll do better. Hogan has set a totally unrealistic KPF benchmark and it's hard not to compare the two. We all say how much we like the idea we are now good enough to let our youth develop at Casey but when Weid doesn't set the world on fire he's a dud. Go figure.
  15. She probably knows more than Robbo now. Correction. No "probably" about it.
  16. The one certainty on DL is that no matter the result Tyson and Oscar will be criticised. We kept Port to 60 odd points and PA talls kicked 3 goals between them. Dixon got his in a mismatch with Hibberd and Westoff got one when he threw Frost aside. I can never understand these decisions and if someone can explain them to me I'd appreciate it. The other was when Westoff got a handball late in the last and kicked a great goal from the angle. But I'd imaging in some way Oscar was culpable for all three and the midfield really responsible for applying pressure that made our defensive job easy. My view is somewhat different. I think Oscar played very well and the defensive unit as a whole exceptional against dangerous opposition. Tyson is more difficult to judge. But for me getting the contested ball is the best trick in the business and Tyson does this. Goody mentioned him specifically in his presser. Goody doesn't praise for the sake of it. Confirmation bias is a very difficult thing to overcome. I have it but I'm aware of it and I'm the first to recognize Lewis's very good first half yesterday despite some errors. Those that don't like Oscar and Dom will always get the chance to confirm their opinions every week but it's tiresome and I'd argue doesn't provide balance. Great win D's. I enjoyed it immensely and I enjoyed Oscar and Dom's 52 possessions and their contribution to a great team win.
  17. They come up to you and politely ask you to leave. If the club asks me to do something I'll do it. Easy.
  18. I heard he went straight to WA from Darwin.
  19. Thanks Males, didn't know that. I can't stand Robbo so I don't watch 360 other than the ad breaks when Big Bang Theory is on and just happened to catch Lewis. Having said that I still think Lewis should have stood front and centre with Bernie when discussing it regardless of previous statements.
  20. Just back from training. Viney did extensive testing with Crossy and then joined the main group and looked fine. I'd be amazed if he didn't play. Watts, Tyson and Salem with the main group from the start. Word was that Garlett won't play. He wasn't at training today. It's speculation only. We were asked to leave today (which I did). First time that has happened. Nothing out of the ordinary happened whilst I was there, usual drills - agility, ball handling and movement inside 50.
  21. Wrong target Big Demon. Lewis should be your target after his performance on 360 last night. He gave Bernie the same clip as Jones but of course Jones can do it because he hasn't been reported and doesn't snipe. Lewis on the other hand has cost us at least one game (Freo) but failed to see that his comments on Bernie were totally hypocritical. He should have used the word "we" when he talked about a lack of discipline and how Bernie has hurt the team. If you're going to talk the talk you've got to walk the walk and Lewis doesn't. And here is the reason we have publicly clipped Bernie BD. It's all about Brand - our Brand. Our club has an image problem. We are, in the eyes of the public, an undisciplined and thuggish group who regularly go out and snipe other players. In this day and age it isn't on. We are completing for sponsorship, members and AFL support (see the comments on the draw). Our image is hurting us in all these areas and we are in damage control. Hence the public stance on Bernie. Oh, and how the wheel has turned. When I criticised Lewis and Hogan (forgiven) for their round 2 antics I was greeted with the same response as you are now. There were pathetic responses of "provocation" and "retaliation". Lewis didn't acknowledge he'd hurt the team when interviewed on 360 and was supported on DL for his "FU" attitude. I reckon a lot of the same people who disagreed with me then now recognize how destructive the stupid and irresponsible these needless suspensions are. They could well cost us finals. Bernie's copping the heat now but Lewis is equally to blame. Both in the leadership group?, I'm not sure, but last night Lewis squibbed it and should have stood front and centre with Bernie for letting the team down.
  22. ROUND 23 Friday, September 4 Richmond vs. North Melbourne (ES) (N) Saturday, September 5 Geelong Cats vs. Adelaide Crows (SS) Brisbane Lions vs. Western Bulldogs (G) Port Adelaide vs. Fremantle (AO) Hawthorn vs. Carlton (MCG) (T) West Coast Eagles vs. St Kilda (DS) (N) Sydney Swans vs. Gold Coast SUNS (SCG) (N) Sunday, September 6 Melbourne vs. GWS GIANTS (ES) Collingwood vs. Essendon (MCG) ?
  23. And just when I stick up for the AFL they invite Hard back! What a pack of absolute dopes. You get no argument from me about that narcissist. I think you win hands down today Sue.
  24. Spot on. I'm surprised people are still surprised he isn't getting a game. He's too slow and whilst he has other great attributes his lack of speed is a deal breaker.
  25. And I doubt it ever will. But in this instance the AFL did us a huge favour and left you and me with a team to support. I'd sweat the big stuff if I was you but I think that suggestion will fall on barren ground.
