  1. Disagree. Green shone this season compared to the rest of our players, not compared to the competition. O'Keefe is still a better player, and probably had just as good a 2008 without reaching his best.
  2. Return of cricket today with the first day of the first test of the Bordar-Gavaskar trophy. This should be a cracking series. I think India will win it too. Cameron White makes his debut, representing Victoria. Ponting won the toss, elected to bat. Zaheer Khan bowled the first over, and had Hayden caught behind third ball. Replays suggest the noise was bat on pad, not bat on ball. Currently 1/7 in the 7th over, Ponting on 6, Katich on 1.
  3. Yeah I agree HT. When you look at that, Melbourne are clear winners, and Sydney clear losers. Green for O'Keefe is definitely a loss, O'Keefe for pick 16 is about right IMO, and pick 16 and Taylor for Green is a definite win for us (even without Taylor). So you'd think Sydney would demand more than just Green, they'd be unlikely to take this the way it is. Unfortunately for us, I don't know if pick 35 would be enough. If we had a pick in the 20s, then maybe that would do.
  4. Jake Niall (I think) reported in the Age today that we had considered offering Fremantle pick 19 for Warnock. I don't like the sound of that. I thought Stynes had said we weren't trading 1, 17 or 19. Unless we pick up another pick before 19, I don't want to see us trade it. Edit: It's in here: http://www.realfooty.com.au/news/news/hawk...3145445615.html "Melbourne, which retains a keen interest in Warnock, is understood to be prepared to trade pick 19 for the ruckman, whose brother plays at the Demons. The Dockers ruckman, however, is not believed to be keen on moving to the Demons"
  5. Crap player, but better than Seaby.
  6. http://afl.com.au/News/NEWSARTICLE/tabid/2...px?newsId=68769 Should be the first trade of the week.
  7. I don't understand why the AFL feels a need to be there. If the two clubs can't get a deal done, doesn't that just mean the deal doesn't get done? It should be the clubs' problems for not dealing. Fremantle is bluffing, if they say they will re-draft him. They shouldn't risk it. He doesn't want to be there, they'll have a player on their list who has publicly stated he wishes he was playing for another club. The AFL's excuse (according to the article Demon Head posted) is that they are sick of deals not being done until the last few hours. So what? Again, isn't that the clubs' problems? If a club can't get a player it wants, it shouldn't receive help from the AFL.
  8. I have to say, I'm glad to see Jamar is off the table. Mainly because, if we were going to trade him, we'd likely be looking at Seaby. Which would be horrible.
  9. Haha, love it.
  10. Mm, yeah good point bub. I wonder if they're twisting the design we sent them in some way. I hope it's not red to white.
  11. Precisely. It's our fault for players not wanting to come to our club. Not theirs.
  12. I would agree with you Redleg, but I have no knowledge about Thorp or Dowler. I take it they're forwards?
  13. I agree, however, I didn't mind when we retired number 20 for the 2005 season, following the incidents of Boxing Day 2004. But, in terms of a retiring player, of course there's no reason to retire the number. Just give it to a new player and move on.
  14. I sent both a link to this thread and a picture of the jumper to Martin Cox. He replied: Thanks for your feedback. The Club has received lots of feedback regarding our clash jumper, and we are developing a design that takes all of this feedback on board. I hope he's telling the truth.
  15. No idea why, but 1, 16, 18 looks much nicer than 1, 17, 19.
  16. Sounds good, but I'd assume Carlton wouldn't just sit there waiting for us, they'd be looking at other, similar offers and would just turn their back on us once they realised we're looking at PSD.
  17. Aargh.. I hate all this talk about Armitage. Why on earth would we consider him? He's just an average, run of the mill crap player. This would have to be a worse decision than looking at Seaby.
  18. I'm not sure Geelong would rate Lovett highly enough.
  19. I like CJ, but I wouldn't care much if we traded him, especially if someone is willing to part with a pick in the 20s or 30s.
  20. Damn. I'd like Prismall to come to Melbourne, but I suspect, given the choice, he'd take Essendon (or, for that matter, any other Victorian club) over Melbourne.
  21. What a joke. I have already lost most interest. By the time they're announced there will already be contenders for next year's award. The problem I think is that the nominations from Round 1 have had, what, 5, 6 months to accumulate votes? The ones from the grand final have had 2 weeks. I think they're letting it stretch out so that there can be a fair amount of votes for the later nominations. But that's beside the point. A panel of judges should decide the winner. It shouldn't be a popularity contest. Edit: According to Mike Sheahan, no one at the AFL knows what's going on in regards to MOTY and GOTY: http://www.news.com.au/heraldsun/sport/afl...1-19742,00.html
  22. My gut feeling is, unless a super-high pick is offered (like, 1-10), in which case he would be traded, Laidley is just doing this to give McIntosh a wake up call. In 2007 he was close to All-Australian, and was streets in front of Hale and Petrie. Now he's lagging behind, and Laidley's done this to let him know his position in the team isn't automatic anymore.
  23. For all we know they were sent by two Demonland readers who both saw this rumour and decided to tell SEN.
