First rule of tanking - put the duds out to pasture first. -
Footscray v Casey Scorpions (Jesse Hogan returns)

If Bail came in for Kent it would be for an injury, not to drop him to Casey. They probably just have him mixed up with someone else. -
Not to mention they are coming off their worst loss at the GABBA in their history and the Pies were struck down by some key injuries before and early in the game, even though I did enjoy seeing the Pies get belted. They have some players but, outside of a few, it's nothing to be jealous about.... yet.

Complete with an Eddie Betts special from the pocket with 30 seconds to go!

Players to target at the end of the year

I agree, although what puts me off Greene is his disposal. We have enough blokes who butcher the ball at the club, we don't want another. -

For those still interested in O'Keefe he conceded on ABC radio today that he has played his last game in the red and white.... at the SCG. Strongly hinting at the fact that he wants to play on next year, it just won't be for the Swans. I'm still not sold on the idea of getting him, but if it was for next to nothing then I wouldn't be against it. -
People on here have been talking about trading Watts for years. Doesn't mean it's right, but if anyone is repeating anything it's the Ox.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BILLY STRETCH
Wiseblood replied to e25's topic in Melbourne Demons
An absolute steal. The fact we will finish so low on the ladder gives us more chance of him slipping through, and if that happens I think it will be terrific for the club. There will still be some detractors to his game, saying he is an outside runner, we've seen guys like Morton do this before etc, and I can see where they are coming from. Stretch is purely an outside midfielder who will need the support of the in and under types to help win him the ball, but, from all reports Billy is an extremely hard worker who will do everything to improve as a player and he seems to get to the right places and use the ball effectively. God only knows how badly we need a few more good ball users in our side. Only time will tell if the club wants to take him as a F/S selection, particularly if we are possibly forced to take him in the second round, but I think he would be a great acquisition for the club. -

I know you are only passing it on dazzle, so I'm not shooting the messenger, but I don't believe a single thing that is said on FB. 12 year old kids with too much time on their hands. -

Say that then. You said above that, and I quote, "Yep. Petracca and a fringe player can get Beams..." as if you know that the Pies will hand him over for that. Totally different to "I think we can land Beams if....". I'm not going to go for personal attacks though, just learn how to phrase your posts. -

You know this for sure yeah? Would love to see you produce a source that says the Pies would hand Beams over for Petracca and steak knives. I'm a big Armitage fan and would love him at Melbourne.... but I think we would need to give more than Watts. -

A Rofl and a contemptuous in the same post. I've seen it all now. -

I don't think you did. And neither Bootsma or Jurrah have officially retired from the AFL. Jake King has. Big difference. -
And they also have heaps more experience than Barry as well, but don't let that get in the way of a good clip behind the ears for him. Hill should be able to beat someone playing their third game but he was able to still impact the game and get some valuable experience. Wasn't out of his depth at all. Still a long way to go for him, no doubt about that, but I reckon you're being a touch harsh.

I think you'll find: 1. Tremblay was taking the [censored] 2. King has retired anyway -
I don't subscribe to that either but he certainly didn't outwardly make the effort yesterday to disprove that theory. Just had an off day.
-
I get what you're saying but we still had 40 I50s, so he had the opportunity to impact the game far more than what he did. 4 disposals for an entire game of footy is terrible.

Love your thinking. Comes out of prison and kicks a bag against nothing opposition and he is the answer to our goal kicking woes. The bloke is damaged goods and the last bloke Roos would look at I suspect. He was a favourite of mine before his exit from the club but I wouldn't go anywhere near him now. -

Why? Seriously.... why? -
I was about to correct you with their 150 point loss to Geelong back in 92... but that was at Carrara... I tipped the Crows but didn't expect them to thump them so easily.

Roos and co. play their cards pretty close to their chest in regards to trades and who we are interested in. While there was speculation that we were interested in a variety of GWS players last year we didn't know it was Tyson until the moment it happened. Same can be said for Vince as well. I'm confident that the club are interested and pursuing a variety of players who can improve our squad. I can't see them chasing guys for the sake of it - if there isn't anyone worth getting then I believe the club will simply go the draft and look at getting players into the club who can help take us forward. -
The big positive is that there is something there to work with for both players. I actually thought Barry ran out the game okay, he just got lost chasing a more experienced player between contests, particularly in the second term. But his composure and vision to chip a ball over the top to Gawn during the third term was terrific and showed he has what it takes to make an impact. Michie was solid too, he just needs to keep playing a role and getting his hands on the footy. Another one who showed something who can only benefit from another good pre-season under Roos.
-
He looks tired to be honest. I agree with you though, his performance was terrible, but it looks as though his first season is finally taking it's toll. Problem is that there is no one else worth bringing in to play his role at the minute.

HH last week... I always admire how quickly your feelings for our club fluctuate HH, you're like a 50 year old woman going through a tough hormonal period while also suffering from menopause.

Fair enough, took it in the wrong context. My apologies. Atrocious he was not, although a discussion over Watts in this regard is futile as he polarizes opinion so much.
