  1. Maybe, and you can never say never in football these days, but he has plenty of form and with a young group like ours I just don't see him fitting in.
  2. I feel like the clubs no '[censored]' policy would preclude us from having any interest in Rockliff. I don't think he would fit our culture and our ethos going forward.
  3. Absolutely. Not denying or arguing that they haven't traded very well over the last 6-7 years. I was merely pointing out that they haven't been given a 'leg up' through free agency as another poster suggested.
  4. Jonathan Simpkin was a huge pick up in 2012. Total game changer. If anything the Hawks have lost out from Free Agency, as they've only picked up Simpkin and Frawley, while losing Buddy Franklin in the process. Demons2riseagain is talking out of his back pocket on this one.
  5. There is a distinct lack of 'america de cali' in this thread as well. He's gone very, very quiet after he spent a few months potting the bloke and hoping he wouldn't re-sign. Such a shame he isn't man enough to come back here and wish Jesse well after everything he said.
  6. Totally agree with the bolded part (and the rest, but that part the most). We can have all the talent in the world, but if we can't get the consistency of our efforts right then it will be for nothing.
  7. Hardly a fair comparison. Mitchell had already done plenty of good things at AFL level, and the discussion was around the fact that he couldn't crack the side, even though when he had played he was very good. Steele has done nothing like that at all.
  8. On our best day we can beat anybody. I'd pencil us in, but not use a pen, for any game next year. If we get our consistency up and see the improvement across the board from our young brigade then anything is possible. If not, then we're in for potentially a tough season.
  9. Is that why they left him to rot in the NEAFL for most of the year? Must be an abundance of jets running around down there.
  10. He couldn't get a regular game at a club that had half of their best 22 suspended for a year. No thanks.
  11. The fanfare is because he is from GWS and has been 'ripping it up' in the NEAFL. Apparently every GWS cast off is a gun in the making and hasn't been getting a run due to all the players they already have. It's simply not true, but people get sucked in to thinking it is. Just ask Steve Silvagni - he is making every attempt to create the Carlton Giants with their cast offs. This is spot on, Steve. Much of why I like the recruitment of Hibberd is that it gives us further flexibility, and I'm surprised others can't see it. Having him on a HBF releases guys like Salem and Hunt to be more damaging further up the field.
  12. Tyson and Hibberd are more than decent and they nominated us. All of our gun, younger players have re-signed and showed tremendous faith in the direction the club is headed in as well. Some supporters are never happy and have short memories to boot.
  13. Look at all these options! You blokes better start the 'Peter 'Spida' Everitt' and 'Colin Sylvia' threads quickly so we can discuss at length why they are good pick ups and how they will slot nicely into our best 22.
  14. That trade whisperer bloke is full of it, mate. Don't believe a word he says. This is the same 12 year old who said Hogan would return early to 'travel'.
  15. No doubt he tested the market, got no bites, and went crawling back to PA with his tail tucked between his legs.
  16. I heard Matthew 'Spider' Burton is available. Has been retired since '03 and is in his mid forties, but Mahoney said we're in the market for a big fella who can rest forward, and I'm sure Burton can do lots of resting up in our forward line. Possible rookie spot?
  17. Nah, we're in the market for a huge bloke. I might start the 'Ilija Grgic' thread soon.
  18. Hell no. Couldn't even get a game at a club without a recognised ruckman in the side.
  19. I reckon that's all talk. Dodoro said that our second rounder is pretty much spot on, so you would think the Hibberd deal will get done within the first 48 hours of trade week.
  20. Just on that - there is a distinct lack of ADC in this thread. It seems he has gone very, very quiet since Hogan re-signed. What a surprise.
  21. HUN reporting that Vickery has agreed to a 3 year deal with Whorethorn. It's not really surprising as they were always into him, but still interested to see how he goes out at Waverley.
  22. It could do, although with the retirement of Merrett they are very light on for decent tall backmen. They might even want Dunny to play forward as support for Schache and Hipwood.
  23. Yep, this is correct. It was tweeted by Trade Radio that this new contract is a 3 year deal, and his contract for 2017 has been ripped up to make room for this one.
  24. Can he? And if he is a 4th option up forward, then we have 4 talls up there which is far too many.
