  1. Why are we 'watching this space'? We need a big bloke that can play forward, and I don't see any bags of goals in those stats other than one game of 3 goals.
  2. I'm probably being naive with this answer, but I think Jesse is with us long term. As he said in his interview, if there was a time for him to go home it was now. The club gave him every reason to stay and he loves being here. I don't really think we need to worry about him. The only worry I would have is if we get to the end of 2019 and we still haven't played finals or we've gone backwards. Then there might be some worry, but I have a feeling that Jesse loves the club and loves being in Melbourne so much that it won't matter too much.
  3. I know - I'm just trying to make a point of how little I rate Lowden and McKernan. They aren't an upgrade on what we have.
  4. I'd rather stick with Watts in the ruck than recruit either of these two. He is 10 times the forward they are and gives more around the ground. Both of those guys are list cloggers who wouldn't be in our best 30 players, let alone getting a gig in the senior side.
  5. I really liked his honesty in that interview. Happily admitted that, at one stage, he was 50/50 about where he wanted to play his footy which is totally understandable. He came over to Melbourne at 17 and I'm sure the lure to be home with family and friends would be strong. However, it seems he has a great relationship with Goody and McCartney and we've created a great environment to play football in. In the end it seems that the club has put all the right things in place and that made his decision much, much easier. Well done to the club and it's bloody super to have Jesse on board for at least another 3 years!
  6. I agree. Good forward/ruck type player don't grow on trees. I think Mahoney was making a point that we are in the market for one, but will only do something about it if the right deal comes up. I don't think the club likes using Watts in the ruck on a regular basis, and it's hard to fit Pedersen in a forward line with Hogan, Watts and (hopefully) Weideman. I'll be interested to see how they go about it over the next month or so.
  7. Amazing news. Yeah, a 4 year deal would have been better, but he is playing for us for the next 3 years and we can now focus on becoming a consistent footy side that plays finals. Bloody brilliant stuff, couldn't be happier. America de Cali will be very disappointed. What a shame.
  8. That wasn't even the point. There was a small comment made by Ralph about Hogan's contract, and the bloke came on here and made an absolute meal out of it by adding things to it that weren't even mentioned. I was really annoyed as it's obviously not about something small - we've been waiting for news on this for months, and then he goes and says it's going to be announced today when NOTHING of the sort was said. That is poor, poor form. Why can't people just pass on what was said instead of trying to big note themselves, or at least double checking the info? It's not hard. Alright, I went over the top with my response earlier (I'm not the first to do so, nor will I be the last) but your post above doesn't even begin to cover it. It was rubbish.
  9. What a surprise. It's BS. Clearly it's a twitter account run by a 15 year old kid. He even spelled 'contract' as 'contact'.
  10. The Prestia deal. Details of his $10 million dollar contract tonight. Retweet so I can get to 5k followers!
  11. @Whispering_Jack @Nasher and the rest of the mod team - can you guys put in a rule for the next month that posters get a ban of some sort for posting information, or passing on info from radio/TV interviews etc, that is completely wrong? @qwerty gave us info that was totally wrong and it's a bloody waste of our time. How we gleaned that there would be an announcement today from the Jon Ralph interview is totally beyond me.
  12. Qwerty deserves a ban for it. If he has made his own conclusions and gotten our hopes up like that then a long holiday from Demonland should be on the cards. Poor, poor form.
  13. Seriously? Wow, that's a huge call. At least it's not a useless twitter account and from someone who is, theoretically, in the know. Going to be a long day waiting to see if it comes to fruition.
  14. Not really OD, just over how some are just looking for any way at all to prove that Hogan isn't as good as he is. It's sad, but all I could think about as Boyd kicked a few was 'I bet the usual's roll up in this thread and try and claim that Boyd has it over Hogan. Sure enough, it happened. And anyway, this is a thread about his contract, not a comparison to a bloke who has played 1 good game in his career.
  15. I've never seen someone actively campaign against a player like this before. You should be ashamed of yourself. And if we're going by 'stats', then it's clear Hogan is on top. 130 more touches, 100 more marks, 27 more goals... the list goes on. I do like how we forget that Boyd stunk it up all year because he played one good game in the finals. He was poor, at best, all year up until 24 hours ago.
  16. Who gives a stuff? Seriously. Boyd plays one decent game and we resort to analysing stats and debating who is better. What in God's name is the point? Someone wake me up when a decision is made. This thread is becoming a joke, if it hadn't become one already.
  17. Free agency starts this time next week, trade period begins the following Monday.
  18. Cheers, mate! Pretty good sauce that!
  19. His second half of the year certainly showed that he is improving. Another pre-season and a run in the NAB Cup would do him good. I would think he is well down the pecking order at the moment, and senior footy next year would be a stretch, but he is showing some potential that he could turn out to be a handy player down the track.
  20. Troy Longmuir or Simon Black?
