Never said he deserved it, just said that he needs to understand that he'll get those responses regardless. If it doesn't eventuate, or it changes, a select few will invariably crack it and have a go. He doesn't deserve it, but if he wants to post info, he has to understand that it will happen.

GD - While the messages you've received are over the top, and people like Vogon Poetry just like the sound of their own keyboard, you need to understand that when you put info out there that you'll get all sorts of reactions. If that info turns out to be wrong, or it changes, then you also need to understand that some posters will give it to you. Just look at someone like GNF - he cops verbal diarrhea from select posters but he still comes back with info from time to time. If you don't like the reactions then, by all means, keep the info to yourself. But if you do put it out there then you need to be ready for everything that goes with it. Cheers.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - JORDAN LEWIS

Anyone else think this deal will get done today? -
You may be right mate. I should have said the article mentioned this deal 'could' happen, not that it will.

Tom Gillies. -
The article on Lewis also mentioned that the Hawks are, potentially, going to trade Hartung and Whitecross to the Lions for Pick 21, which they will then on trade with Pick 10 for O'Meara. No pressure on the new boys at all...

Classy from us, yet again. There is no need to comment on anything yet unless we know, 100%, if he is going to be coming to us or if the deal is dead in the water. No point in discussing it publicly right now while we are still doing things behind the scenes. -

Agree with this - the silence from both Lewis and Pickering is very interesting indeed. I think it confirms that he is still livid with the Hawks and hasn't made up his mind yet, even though the Hawks have made it clear they want him to stay. Once we hear from either of them then we'll know where we stand. -

Barrett reporting that Liam Pickering, Lewis' manager, was meeting with us this morning. Edit - they also say that Lewis is still livid with how everything has gone down and it's line ball where he plays next year. Could be sensationalism, but still gives credence to the idea we are an outside chance to get him. -
Matthew Boyd has re-signed with the Dogs. Marcus Adams, after one year at the Dogs, has requested a trade back to WA. The Dogs give him a chance and he gives them the flick after just one season. This sort of stuff is getting out of hand.

They are saying it's for a future second rounder, which is about right for me. When you consider we are trying to give up the same for Hibberd who has a proven track record of playing footy at it's highest level, I think it's looking like a good deal for us as well.

So you don't know, but you pot him anyway? Well done.

No idea to be honest. I think we'll know more tomorrow. It was from Hawthorn, not from Lewis.
-
It's not so much what could happen, but what has happened. In the space of a few hours there was all sorts of info being thrown around - nobody knows what was said in the meeting, what sort of deal we had on the table, how committed Lewis was or why he decided to eventually stay at the club he's been at all of his career. To suggest he 'used' us and it was 'poor form' without knowing any of this is just plain silly.
-
You know everything that happened, do you? You are supremely quick to judge without knowing all the facts.

It's a fair point, although you could argue that the story broke very late in the day and they haven't had time. All we've had is a quick statement from the Hawks that he is a 'required' player. -

Absolutely. There are a few reporting that after meeting Clarkson again today he felt better about staying, but I'm not sold on it yet. Apparently we warmed to the idea as we felt his leadership within our midfield and at the club as a whole would be invaluable for a few years. He can be a third or fourth mid in our side and do some regular damage in games, not to mention the ability to lift when the pressure is on, something we are still learning to do. I do agree that I always feel a bit uneasy when looking at older players, but someone of Lewis' quality is hard to ignore. -

As much as the eternal pessimist in me during trade week wants to disagree, I'd like to believe it's not entirely dead either. I still think, with a week to go, there is still a little more to play out here. -
Apparently Crouch has absolutely zero interest in playing for Carlton and, being under contract, he can veto a move.

We didn't cast the line ficket pence. This fish swam up to our boat. -

Why? It was perfectly fine in the other thread. -
As a side note - it's once again impressive that the club didn't leak this as it was occurring. Lewis approached us, we did all the right things, and it wasn't until the Hawks back flipped on it that it all comes to light.
-
He is still un-signed for 2017, though. No doubt they will bump up the offer now.

Jonathan Marsh from the Pies has requested to go back to WA. With Frost also leaving, who are their key backs for 2017? Daniel Wells? Chris Mayne?
