If you two geriatrics settled down for a second, you might just put the silly argument aside and bask in the glory of being equal 4th and on our way to our first finals appearance in a decade.

23 touches, 5 marks and 3 goals. He was always going to take a few weeks to settle, and settle he has. Great game from him today and our forward line looked lethal in that first half thanks to him.

And enjoy it I will. The lasagne will go down a treat.

And this shows how far this group have come as a team. They don't play for themselves, they play for each other, and they're starting to learn more and more what it takes to win games of footy. Port are no pushovers and they were always going to come at us at some stage, regardless of our first half. When they did we had to turn the game into a scrap and we knew that. Port still got a few goals but we stuck to it and the tide eventually turned.

That, my fellow Demons, was a finals type game. At times it was super to watch, at others times it was a scrappy affair where you needed to put your head over the footy and do the hard stuff. And we won. When Port had a real dip at us, and we all knew it would happen, we didn't drop our heads or move away from the stuff that makes us a good footy side. We stuck to the task, rolled with the punches and got such an important victory for us. One person who I'd like to single out is Melksham. Yes, guys like Hibberd, Jetta and others were absolutely fantastic today and you would argue both would go close to best on ground. But when we needed goals and a calm presence forward of the ball when we struggled to hit the scoreboard, he was the man. He's been criticised this season, and in some ways it was justified, but he is more than proving his worth to our side right now. I'm stoked for him. We are a couple of wins away from playing finals and we've got so much more improvement to come in many players who have missed lots of footy, not to mention our captain returning in a week or two. These are exciting times and how good is it to be a part of? DEMONS!

MATCH PREVIEW AND TEAM SELECTION - Round 18
Wiseblood replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
He tried, but Daniel stole it all in the third movie. -
I'm surprised he gets a run, but excited to see him do well. He'll know this is his last chance, so hopefully he can fill a role for the side and show everyone that the game hasn't passed him by. Good luck, Jack.

He had to get one right as he's been wrong on his last half dozen. -

Massive changes to the side, and all of them positive. We get some grunt, class and ball winning ability back into the side and we instantly look like a much better side. The big key for me is adding Viney, Tyson and Salem to help match their strength in midfield. Our forward line also looks extremely dangerous and has the capability of kicking a big score. Bring it on! -
It means the same thing...

Feel bad for the bloke, but we're drawing a rather large bow to suggest he wasn't given the proper time and care with the injury. Without actually knowing anything it's poor form to suggest we have done the wrong thing.

I asked the question earlier and got some very reasoned responses, and just wanted to know if that post was more reflective of the game than the other ones. First time all year I've missed a game and it's interesting seeing how much the posts conflict with each other.

To those watching tonight - is this total wrist slashing, or is there some truth here? Seems hugely negative for a game we were still in at 3/4 time. Cheers to all those who gave the feedback as well, much appreciated. Sounds like we just lacked the cattle and the composure at key moments to stay in the game. Lots of players to return and we get another crack next week on our home deck. Nothing to get ourselves down about.
-
Didn't see any of the game tonight - can someone with a record of being reasonable give me a bit of an account of what went down? Looks like a few played okay but others did not. Cheers in advance.

Bloody brilliant news. Such an important part of our future and yet another player showing their faith in the direction we are heading!

That'll be a long night if we aren't playing well!

How is using facts attacking another poster? That's exactly what he used to do. I'll never understand why people defend him. I don't jump into arguments with him much anymore, but he constantly gets stuck into other posters and then throws his arms up in the air and claims innocence when others bite back, which then results in people like you sticking up for him. -
He shouldn't be allowed to do that, though. Which other president gets to sit in on a show and go bananas in defence of their coach? When he's on Fox Footy Ed should stick to focusing solely on the games being played and put Collingwood aside. It'll never happen, but it should.

One thing that I think holds us in good stead for this game is that with Watts, Tyson and potentially Viney all returning next week, it puts plenty of pressure on players to hold their spots. Guys like JKH, Harmes, ANB, Pedersen, Kent etc, will want to keep their spot with finals looming on the horizon and hopefully that means we have more of our mid tier players stepping up and making an impact. With Salem and Jones also returning in the coming weeks it means competition for spots will be fierce. Feeling quietly confident about this game as I think we'll have a red hot go, but a loss tonight won't define our season nor impact our chances on making the finals.

Keeping an eye on David Zaharakis tonight @DominatrixTyson?

After scoring 90 points in a half against Ninthmond, St. Failda can't kick a goal in the first term on their home deck against the Druggies. Just further proof that one game doesn't make a season. They are still in the game of course, but they looked bog ordinary in that quarter.

Great mark, but not as good as Howe's against us on QB. Saints are asleep to start this game. Bombers all over them.

To be fair, how often does someone go the man around here these days? It's rare. There will always be arguments, disagreements etc on a forum, but I feel as though it's quite rare that posters here go the man anymore. If people get upset or offended at a difference in opinion then that's their problem. The mods here do a pretty good job of deleting, banning etc posts and posters who go the man these days. -

This can't be understated and it's no coincidence that the atmosphere here improved the moment they were given their marching orders.
