  1. Or that's just Buckenara mentioning him as someone they should go after.
  2. You could argue on the flip side that if we hadn't beaten the Crows and West Coast on their home decks, like nobody thought we would, then we might almost be out of contention with the injuries we have. I think it's just reflective of how even the season has been to this point. Every club has coughed up games they should have won. But I agree totally with your final point, Mr. Plainview, that if we can win two of those 4 games then we play finals.
  3. Coping fine, cheers. Who is the OP by the way? I can never keep up when people change their usernames.
  4. No doubt she'll have some leverage.
  5. Totally agree D17, which is why I'm always bemused to see supporters write us off in any game this year. Of course we will lose a game here and there, but this isn't the Melbourne of 2013 that you could confidently write off before a game and simply hope for anything below a 6 goal loss. Outside of the Swans game, and we know why we were so flat in that one, we've been in every contest this year. Even though it won't happen, you could easily say we could win all of our final games because we can match it with anyone.
  6. The bolded part is my thinking as well, Pates. While I'd love him back in the side I'd much rather the club take a cautious approach and bring him back when he's ready so he is fit and firing for some crucial games at the end of the season. No good rushing him back and having him re-injure it.
  7. I'm with you on this, jnr. If they're within kicking distance and they go back to take their kick then they get the full 30 seconds. ANB made no indication that he was doing otherwise, so he got his full 30 seconds and he used it superbly.
  8. I'm not counting us out of this weekend's game against the Crows. Their midfield isn't elite, and if we curb the influence of Sloane then it brings them on par with us. The Crows have a soft underbelly and if we can limit the amount of easy ball guys like Jenkins and Betts like to get then it goes a long way to us winning.
  9. We're talking about the Visy Blues here, Jaded. The fact that some might boo him is hardly surprising.
  10. For a poster whose opinion I respect, you've gone off the deep end with this one, Akum. The 'staging' incident and this one are totally different and will be treated, and remembered, as such. Go and look at the vision again as well. Your idea of 'shoved' is pretty warped.
  11. So Curnow has a couple of good games and we need a 'reprise' thread? Poor form, Dom. No doubt Curnow has had a good month, but Weideman was always going to be a 'long term' selection for the club. He was coming off some serious injuries and we knew it would take time for him to put on the right amount of size and develop a tank to play consistently at AFL level.
  12. Shoved? Laughable. Surely you don't believe he was shoved...? I've seen the vision numerous times and at no stage have I thought he was shoved. And how do we know it hasn't been tolerated? How do we know that the wheels aren't turning behind closed doors and there will be further outcomes from this? Right now, we don't. The best thing for the club to do is to get on the front foot and get passed it as quickly as we can. The club can kick, scream, yell and do whatever... but it means little and won't change a thing. And our players are never hung out to dry - just watch the Goodwin presser from the weekend to see the standards and culture he wants to drive and you'll have zero doubt that we're in good hands.
  13. What did you want? Mahoney rubbing his back while he did it? Oliver can handle himself fine. It's been dealt with and will be forgotten. The club are far more professional than just thrusting him into the spotlight without having discussions with him first.
  14. Then he shouldn't be having a crack back at a fan during a game. If he's big enough to play AFL, then he needs to have a thicker skin.
  15. This will be forgotten in 24 hours. Oliver has already moved on by the look of it, and so should we.
  16. I don't think we will finish Top 4, but at the same time we deserve to be in the conversation for finishing there. On our day, and without so many injuries, we can beat any of them and if I were the other 7 clubs in there at the moment I'd be worried about playing us come September. We may not make it due to circumstances out of our control, but if we can win 1 of our next 2 games against two Top 4 sides then we are right in the hunt. Having said that I'll be content with making finals this year!
  17. I think it's more about his days as a swingman have begun, not that his days down back are over. He will still spend some time down there, but Tom is developing into a real weapon for us. How many clubs have a KPD that is truly competent at both ends of the ground? Not many. It's terrific for us to have going forward.
  18. This. Well said.
  19. Spot on. I distinctly recall the media fawning over how good the Tigers were and how they were a legit finals side because they came from behind to win in the last term. Vomit inducing stuff.
  20. Not mine, although I'm with you in that Oscar and Frosty don't have me worried every time the ball goes in their direction. Both make the odd mistake, but then who doesn't? They are acquitting themselves well and will only get better. We do need more insurance for our backline though, so I'm not against another tall backman, but is that one Lever? I'd love him at the club but not sure we will offer an amount that will trump other clubs.
  21. I'm happy for us to fly under the radar, but how often do you see a columnist (Sam Landsberger in this case) fawn over a losing side as he did? And for the record, we have plenty of good players missing and the Blues, for all their 'brilliance' this year, still couldn't get the job done. They have 5 wins for the year and some very ugly losses. Bolton is doing well, but they will need to do plenty from here to keep up with the pack in the coming years as many of their good players are getting long in the tooth.
  22. You are very easily disappointed. Regardless of what was said, Clarry doesn't need to bite back. The AFL may well have asked the club to apologise, which they did, and now we move on. Why we need to be upset about it is beyond me.
  23. I read the HUN today and thought Carlton had won. The whole article was about Curnow and little else. The media freaking love the Blues and I can't work out why. They are the kings of getting heaps of the footy and doing Jack with it, not to mention their game style being horrible to watch.
  24. Only reason I wanted a week was because we are playing them this weekend. Never really thought it would happen. If Hogan did it I'd be annoyed if he missed a week so we can't really complain.
