CHANGES: SF vs Brisbane
Haha. I'm not annoyed he's leaving, I'm actually relieved. He just doesn't do enough. Anyway, next.

CHANGES: SF vs Brisbane
He should've been tried around the North game, too late now IMO. Perhaps its Goodwin's stubbornness coming back again aka 2019-2020? Or maybe JVR has underlying issues. I don't see him as the answer for our KPF problems but I haven't seen him play either. We need a couple of strong marking mobile around 200cm types, where they come from, stuff knows. I thought Jackson would've shown more by now, but outside of that GF, I've been underwhelmed tbh.

Dees Turnovers vs League Average
Maybe thats why we kick wide to the pockets, because Goody knows theres a high chance of turnover up the middle....

Farewell Brodie Grundy
I still don't understand this move or how he slots in. Hes a no.1 ruck, as is Max. And they both aren't forwards. I get the vibe the club wants to play Max as a forward, as we've seen more recently, but it won't work IMO.

CHANGES: SF vs Brisbane
I'd bring in Bowey for ANB, Bowey to the back pocket and put Salem on the HFF, setting up our passes into forward 50 aka the Gary Ablett role from a couple of years ago. Its probably the fastest way to improve our i50 efficiency as its too late in the year to train skills. Let Salem get his 20-25 touches and watch the i50's improve. Just an idea, but the simplest most effective one I can think of.

NON-MFC: Finals 2022 Week 01
And we might just choke a 10-0 start ourselves....

NON-MFC: Finals 2022 Week 01
That Geel v Coll game was honestly one of the all time classics, great footy.

Our biggest issue is...
We don't have two genuine KPF's. We don't have hardly any elite ball users by foot.

Note to MFC Coaches & Players... Kicking to the Pocket or Bombing = Losing Strategy
Watching all games over the weekend, we seriously lack some elite ball users by foot unlike most of the other top 8. Its a real issue IMO, we need to recruit for this, it'll give any game plan a chance to succeed. Sydney remind me of the Hawks of old, pin point passes and game plan built around it. Outside of Spargo, who doesn't get it enough, I don't trust many others by foot sadly.

In Season - Loading/Periodisation: Put your conjecture here.
Thats what I'm thinking also, pushed them to their limits instead of resting them. We had players in form at Casey to cover too, so we've missed an opportunity to get experience into them also.

POSTGAME: QF vs Sydney
You cannot keep kicking wide to the forward pockets. Where is this even coming from? Coaches? As it happens a lot and has been happening for weeks. Its not even percentage football. Sydney remind me of the young Hawks of yesteryear, build a team of competitors with elite kicking skills. Apart from Spargo, who just doesn't do enough, there arent too many who can hit up targets. Ben Brown is cooked, his knee is done and KPF issues next year look grim. Van Rooyen will take years to be consistent. Goodwin needs to stop persisting and thinking things will come right, sometimes you need to make tactical and positional changes. Our fitness all year looks well below where it was last year and we just cannot swing back momentum consistently, as soon as the oppo get a run on, we just wait until they stop. Anyway, looking forward to Cats v Pies. Off to walk the hounds.

POSTGAME: QF vs Sydney
They pressure the ball user/corale. Feel sorry for him as it must be embarrassing, but Ben Brown is cooked. Way too many passengers tonight and it wasn't loading.
-
GAMEDAY: QF vs Sydney
Way too many passengers tonight. Brown should retire. You wont win many games of footy kicking wide to the forward pocket. Fingers crossed we snatch it and move on, doesn't look good though.

NON-MFC: Finals 2022 Week 01
Offence specialists, both teams.

Farewell Brodie Grundy
2022? What happened 5-6yrs ago is irrelevant and you know that.
-
Tom McDonald
I'll believe my own eyes then, stats mean bugger all really.
-
Tom McDonald
Post them again? To my eyes, more times than not hes out of touch and thats OK.

Tom McDonald
The trouble with TMAC is after an injury, it takes him a good 5-6wks to get into form and is usually woeful in that time. I wish he was fit and firing though.
-
Farewell Brodie Grundy
I'm not excited by Grundy at all. Injury prone and unsure where he fits in. Gawn isn't a forward and Grundy is a no.1 ruck.

David Schwarz remains one-eyed
Such a talent wasn't he, and a shame.
- Trade and Free Agency rumours

The Luck of the Draw
Did anyone complain about our easy draw last year after 2020? But yes, Cats were looked after this year....

Is our offense a problem?
Good on ya mate, cheers for that. Look forward to seeing the other stats, very interesting break down hey.
-
Is our offense a problem?
Good post Nev, very interesting and you can see with the eyes we arent anywhere near last year. Unsure if you have time, but I'd love to see the same stats applied to just i50's?? See what they compare v last year. Maybe its similar, but our connection and conversion is much worse? Maybe, just maybe, the switch was flicked v Brisbane.

Patrick Cripps FREE to play
AFL must be counting the Brownlow votes first
