  1. Congratulations to Greeny, well earnt in my opinion. I like what they've done with the official website too, with Green a standalone graphic on the left hand side, and his three vice captains on the other, albeit with some dodgy masking on the Davey image!
  2. Whats all this talk about Mick? I thought Molloy was a tigers man through and through. Get him on the Visy payroll to throw old jokes at the suits at some corporate days at the Factory, get Judda$ to assemble a cardboard box for the kids to play in. Barrel O Laughs.
  3. Hi, my name is Brent Moloney. You may have heard of me I play football for the Melbourne Demons Football Club: Proof Please dont confuse me with Brent Maloney, who has never played with the Melbourne Demons like I have. I have never met this Maloney fellow, and I dont know why people keep including him in their best Demons sides. I have now played 85 games for the Demons, I cant remember him playing any. Thanks for reading! Brent Maloney Moloney
  4. Here's a few more I have as well as the above mentioned: The Urge to Merge - Ian Ridley (2002) Diamonds and Demons - Joe Gutnick (2000) 125 Years of the Melbourne Football Club - Greg Hobbs (1983) Bluey Truscott - Ivan Southall (1958) Encyclopedia of League Footballers (Melb Edtn) - Holmesby/Main (2004)
  5. Maybe thats the supporters view, but the selection committee think otherwise: "He is a hard-working and durable midfielder, having played 92 matches since debuting in round 18, 2006. The 22-year-old has missed just four games since his first match." -From the aforementioned article.
  6. I got it directly from one of the trainers as he was leaving the session, although I cant verify if he did it in that session (Mondays) or an earlier one.
  7. I do know that from todays training session Jordan Gysberts did his hamstring, a 3-4 week tear apparently.
  8. Ive got 2 apps installed on my droid, the aforementioned Total Footy, as well as Footy Scoreboard. Both are fairly underwhelming, so hoping some new ones will be released before next years season commences!
  9. Someone call in the PC Police. Should we get rid of our traditional western medicine doctors and their techniques if it offends some of our aboriginal players who have traditionally used their own methods? Would it make you feel more comfortable if his official title was 'counsellor' rather than chaplain? This bloke does an invaluable job at the club and your questioning his role and worth?
  10. How many times have Qatar qualified for the World Cup? 0 They're the 51st ranked side in the World. I'm sure Demetriou and co down at City Hall are rubbing their hands with glee right now.
  11. Zinko played 3 games for 3 goals, my Encyclopedia of AFL Footballers -Melb Edition tells me. And hes the last player listed in the alphabetical book! Given his height and goals per game average of 1.0 youd expect he was a forward goal sneak, but thats only a wild guess. Some of the players occupations are fantastic from this book : Farmer, Sales Trainee, Light Representative(?), Car Salesman, Law Student etc etc. If I get time i'll do a new thread and post all the scans Ive done of this book (so as to not hijack this one too much more).
  12. Remember when we drafted Luke Ottens, on the strength of the fact he was then-Tiger Brad's brother, and thus he may improve? Dont always be fooled by the surname and its magical powers!
  13. Since Matthew Warnock changed to number 1, his success as a footballer has dramatically dramatically dropped away, so maybe they should put that number in mothballs and Warnock go back to a higher one..
  14. Aah, the mysterious Zinko! I acquired an MFC 1963 Souveneir album in my trails a few months back with a bio on each player going into the 1963 season, and he was one that caught my eye, not only because of historical anonymity but also his great name! Behold (I hope the link works ok!): I also remember I looked him up in the demons enyclopaedia of players and he did managed to player at least one game in his time at the club
  15. Hmm, a 27 year old who is too slow, makes all his leads too far up the ground and is not a reliable shot for goal? Brad Miller sends his regards...
  16. Neagle made Ben Holland look like Carl Lewis. Seriously Ive never seen a more lazy not fit for AFL player given such a dream run of adulation and expectation over the last 3 years merely due to his surname and height/weight on paper. The guys an A-Grade spud, if he couldnt flourish in that Essendon forward line this year when he was supposedly fitter than ever before, what makes anyone think he'd succeed at our or any other club?
  17. I believe the limitations to this are in the 'curvature' of the actual sign. So it must be that Subi and Moron Park have longer 'straigher' boundary fences than at the MCG, and thus it isnt technically feasible to do it at some grounds such as these. EPL, NRL, NFL etc are all straight fences.
  18. Does this mean that he would consider Michael Newton has achieved more out of the game than he has over their respective careers?
  19. Yes that should read GC17. Got a bit excited and had visions of Ablett in my head. Nathan Ablett. And I really hope he's getting a game for them as it will show how shallow a squad they have.
  20. Wow, when I look at the draw, my first concern is for chances of on-field success, not off field. The draw from a playing perspective is brilliant. -Only 3 away road trips -Playing this years top 6 teams only once -Playing this years bottom 2 teams twice (as well as potential cellar dwellers GC17 twice) I'm wrapt with this draw. If we are winning, and playing attractive exciting footy (esp. if Jurrah stays fit), then the crowds should and will come regardless of the timeslot and day. Bring on 2011!
  21. He used to get those little grey stones that lined the terraces at Vic Park thrown at him all day too he told a friend of ours at training the next year. I still remember that anecdote.
  22. I never saw him play obviously, but would John Coleman fit the same description as well? His record is Bradman-esque.
  23. Agh, I havent watched them yet but that was the most interminable pre-game Id ever known. I hated it, it seemed to go on forever, I just wanted the game to start. My memories are of the great downpour, being soaked to the bone and then having to put up with the monotoned drearieness of that bushie. And that turned out to be the good part of the day
  24. The saints gave up pick 48 in last years draft for Peake. At least it wasnt as bad as giving away their pick 16 for Lovett (ouch!)
  25. Wasnt Stefan Martin our entrant last year? He did pretty well from memory, top 3 finish...
