  1. Remember when we drafted Luke Ottens, on the strength of the fact he was then-Tiger Brad's brother, and thus he may improve? Dont always be fooled by the surname and its magical powers!
  2. Since Matthew Warnock changed to number 1, his success as a footballer has dramatically dramatically dropped away, so maybe they should put that number in mothballs and Warnock go back to a higher one..
  3. Aah, the mysterious Zinko! I acquired an MFC 1963 Souveneir album in my trails a few months back with a bio on each player going into the 1963 season, and he was one that caught my eye, not only because of historical anonymity but also his great name! Behold (I hope the link works ok!): I also remember I looked him up in the demons enyclopaedia of players and he did managed to player at least one game in his time at the club
  4. Hmm, a 27 year old who is too slow, makes all his leads too far up the ground and is not a reliable shot for goal? Brad Miller sends his regards...
  5. Neagle made Ben Holland look like Carl Lewis. Seriously Ive never seen a more lazy not fit for AFL player given such a dream run of adulation and expectation over the last 3 years merely due to his surname and height/weight on paper. The guys an A-Grade spud, if he couldnt flourish in that Essendon forward line this year when he was supposedly fitter than ever before, what makes anyone think he'd succeed at our or any other club?
  6. I believe the limitations to this are in the 'curvature' of the actual sign. So it must be that Subi and Moron Park have longer 'straigher' boundary fences than at the MCG, and thus it isnt technically feasible to do it at some grounds such as these. EPL, NRL, NFL etc are all straight fences.
  7. Does this mean that he would consider Michael Newton has achieved more out of the game than he has over their respective careers?
  8. Yes that should read GC17. Got a bit excited and had visions of Ablett in my head. Nathan Ablett. And I really hope he's getting a game for them as it will show how shallow a squad they have.
  9. Wow, when I look at the draw, my first concern is for chances of on-field success, not off field. The draw from a playing perspective is brilliant. -Only 3 away road trips -Playing this years top 6 teams only once -Playing this years bottom 2 teams twice (as well as potential cellar dwellers GC17 twice) I'm wrapt with this draw. If we are winning, and playing attractive exciting footy (esp. if Jurrah stays fit), then the crowds should and will come regardless of the timeslot and day. Bring on 2011!
  10. He used to get those little grey stones that lined the terraces at Vic Park thrown at him all day too he told a friend of ours at training the next year. I still remember that anecdote.
  11. I never saw him play obviously, but would John Coleman fit the same description as well? His record is Bradman-esque.
  12. Agh, I havent watched them yet but that was the most interminable pre-game Id ever known. I hated it, it seemed to go on forever, I just wanted the game to start. My memories are of the great downpour, being soaked to the bone and then having to put up with the monotoned drearieness of that bushie. And that turned out to be the good part of the day
  13. The saints gave up pick 48 in last years draft for Peake. At least it wasnt as bad as giving away their pick 16 for Lovett (ouch!)
  14. Wasnt Stefan Martin our entrant last year? He did pretty well from memory, top 3 finish...
  15. No 3 word analysis on the players games from Joeboy for this one?
  16. It also costs significantly less to goto a Home and Away game on Queens Birthday than it does an AFL final, some of the ticket prices for this weekend were ridiculously high!
  17. Thanks for the updates everyone! And well done to the winners. Why is it that Kyle Cheney is listed in the full list, played 2 games but scored no votes, yet James Strauss did not rate a mention for the same output? It even states on the official MFC review of the votes Bluey2010 that Strauss did not play a game in 2010! Come on we know it was a long time ago Rounds 1 and 2 but give the kid a break!
  18. I thought for a minute`Id logged onto a Hawthorn board and was reading about Buddy Franklin there for a minute. The parallels between them are closer than some people may like to admit.
  19. I wouldve thought, with Bruce able to be slotted onto the veterans list this year in place of McDonald, that a pay cut wouldnt be necessary, as we could simply continue to pay him the same amount, but half of it is now exempt from the salary cap. Of his B&F finishes, these are the ones I can find: 2001 - 9th 2002 - 2nd 2003 - 6th 2006 - 2nd 2008 - 1st 2009 - 3rd Not bad!
  20. Brett Kirk is retiring this year, and will probably finish just shy of 200 consecutive games. Who's got the most consecutive for the Demons? Following in the rucking traditions of Big Jim, its none other than Mark Jamar, on a whopping 23 game streak. Who would've thought, being so injury prone for his first 5 or 6 years that he'd one day be leading this stat?
  21. I voted for Green. An ultimately useless but nonetheless interesting fact: This year will be the first time in his career Brad Green has played every home and away round!
  22. Haha, I love the froth and bubble posters get themselves into on here about players like Thorp, Daw, Temel and the like. There's a reason all of those players were overlooked. Remember the hubub over Sibosado? Still yet to play a game at the Shockers and posters were furious we picked some unknown country kid instead of him. That kid, Jordie McKenzie goes alright.
  23. Just having a look at the ladder last night our wins this year have been against teams in positions (as of now): 15th x 2, 14th, 13th x 2, 12th, 10th, 5th and a draw against the Top side. This needs to be taken into account I believe when rating how we've gone this year.
  24. Read the sentence after that to put it into context. Its called sarcasm.
  25. Yes the same bunch of sooks that are constantly complaining in the media that they dont get enough recognition for their youngsters that we do. They just beat the Wooden Spooners for 2010 yesterday, what a courageous effort. And if we happen to beat them this week we'd finish a mere half a game behind them for the year. Look at their performances against the Top 4 and the aggregate margins of those games compared to ours.
