  1. That is the spirit! Lets not play fantasy, we will win on Sunday, so we may as well make it count! I am getting the feeling I may be the only one signing the club song when we win on Sunday.
  2. I like the idea of the bottom two teams having a playoff for top pick with the winner getting the pick. A bit like Serie A where the bottom two teams playoff to see who is relegated.
  3. OK so if Col was out and got himself in trouble, who is our policeman who would be taking Col aside this week and telling him to ‘pull his head in’? Do we have a policeman? My expectation is that we don’t have one or Neita is left to do it all.
  4. No priority picks - that is my answer. Tanking has less reward when you are only tanking for one pick as opposed to potentially two. The NBA lottery system is great in theory, but wait to the day when we finish bottom and then ONLY end up with the 5th pick. We would be complaining for ever more.
  5. Will they - yes Should they - no Take the bias out from any side and it is still worth 6 weeks. Terrible incident.
  6. Come on guys, all we needed to do was break even in the first half and we would have won easily. Forget injuries, we had none in the first 20 minutes and were 5 goals down. Once again we are found wanting when the game is at its most intense – lets not waste time on demeaning Collingwood or their easy run this year– we have our own issues.
  7. Well said Condemned, I feel all fans who made an effort to get there last night have the right to feel somewhat cheated. There is no pride in coming good when the game is over (it like getting an encouragement award – what does it matter?). I expected guys to be running through brick walls for ALL of last night – I guess again I expected too much. We are too often a lazy, undisciplined and unaccountable football team. We have overachieved in the last few years due to the ability of some of our individual talents (Neitz, Robbo, Yze, White). Has anyone watched the Hawks recently? Look at how they run in numbers and do all the team things – that is a high priority for the new coach – get us playing like a team.
  8. Is he in our best 22, yes in my opinion, so he should be on the list. His spirit is not too evident in some of our more decorated players.
  9. What did Hawthorn do this time last year – they played Taylor at first ruck when Everitt went off the rails and bingo, Taylor is twice as good a player this year. Play PJ first ruck and find out once and for all what he can do with the experience. I don’t know if anyone remembers the SEN commentary from the Sydney game a few weeks ago but it was a classic. Daniel Harford: Did Melbourne really think more of Jamar than Jolly Reply: Yes they did. Daniel Harford: What really? Reply: Yes Daniel Harford: Oh! Almost made me drive off the road in hysterics.
  10. Yes the top 3 have all struggled to live up to expectations, injuries are a factor but the reality is all 3 have come into the league without natural positions. All 3 have effectively found themselves flankers whilst their teams hope they develop engines to enable them to play in the midfield. Compare that with Judd, Ball and Hodge, all midfielders at the under age and AFL level. Let this be a lesson when we pick our first rounder this year, we need someone who will slot naturally into a position in the AFL, not someone who will have to learn a new position at the professional level and hence will struggle for a few years.
  11. Looking forward to seeing Byron back to his best in 08
  12. What lays ahead of him - not much if he still can't get a regular game. Does some things well but nothing great and does not have a definitive position on the field. I would keep for another year but he needs to play with a lot more intensity and purpose.
  13. Does Fergo actually lift weights? - he literally has no muscle development on his arms. Surely he would understand how much of a disadvantage he is at playing with a body like that. He has been on the list 5 years and is the same size.
  14. The reason I suspect he is playing unfit is that he already knows he won't go on next year and is set to retire after the 300th.
  15. Which is more important, the process or the outcome? Putting in place comprehensive processes is often designed to protect one's self, not to get the best outcome. Move now Demons.
  16. I am excited by the prospect of a 2000 like revival. Do not lose faith, we will be back (no one can tell me Collingwood or the Roos are better than us!).
  17. Brad Miller is the single most disappointing players at the club for mine. Still I absolutely expect him to be at the club next year as there is little else for a new coach to choose from as a KPP. Neitz, Robbo and Bizzell over 30, Ferguson, Warnock etc not good enough. ND did not ruin his career, but another coach (eg Sheedy) may revive it. Look at Dean Wallis – was he any more capable than Brad?
  18. After recent performances, we may need to hire Sheedy just to get people to renew their memberships!
  19. Don't disagree we need all of the above, but who plays CHB in your team? I don't see a CHB on our list.
  20. Yes, this could get ugly quickly again. Chad Cornes again
  21. The best position for Bater may be CHF, I just cannot see a team with Bate at CHF ever seriously challenging for a flag. Hope I am wrong and that is not a knock on him as he is one of my favourites. Longer term, I would prefer to see Bate move closer to the goal square.
  22. Following up on your report DemonDave, if anyone knows what the plan is with Dunn is that would be great to know. For mine his greatest asset at the moment is his goal sense, so what is the point of playing him where he can't use it?
