I agree but i think deep down we all know they are too stubborn to move frost back
-
If that happened Rooey would have just moved up the ground taking the defender out of it. I understand the point you making but unfortunatly its all or nothing with the zone.
-
Spot on. Its always easier for a get ball and get rid of it quick type player (oliver) to have an early impact however players who get it and try to run and carry as tracc tried a couple of times, have to learn a little more how to deal with the pace. I look forward to see what he can show after 3/4 weeks at the level no staring, just want to see some flashes of what he may become.
-
Because they will lose? pretty disapointing reason man. I have seen us win live 3 times this year. ive also seen them lose live 3 times. This weekend will be the first one i miss and ill be back their against the doggies. They mightn't win, but if through some miracle they do then i wanna make sure im there. I am as frustrated as anyone with the weekend but im pretty excited to say that after the last decade im now going home happy every 2nd week! And given you have only seen 2 games of our backline at work i doubt u understand where it is actually at or how it works. I can tell u the last 2 weeks it looked pretty damn good
-
That first part is a super point and i think it also applies to the chop and change. I feel like both can be trained into them. But i understand if they decide it best to try teach them to deal with oppo momentum while still playing "our style"
-
Ok at risk of getting my head bitten off, Can I make a suggestion? in a couple of weeks at the doggies game sit up the top deck and get a real good view of our zone defence. I agree he should not be dropped however i do not think he was that good and no he did not spend the most game on bruce. It is much easier to see our set up from above and i think you would then get the point they are making about bruce's own game being irrelevant in the Dunn discussion.
-
Its gonna be a roller coaster of success as they learn but lets face it, the zone worked the last 2 weeks so they have shown they can do it. Giving up goals doesnt mean its failing its all about increasing scores off turnovers and the last 2 weeks we have done that. This week we didnt, its gonna happen, as a supporter it stings however I do think this is best for the future. But i very much agree that our unsettled back 6 is the biggest issue I think the gameplan is there.
-
Not far too off i think. Unfortunatly i think they like frost too much, so i doubt he will come out.
-
I dont think this is true. I dont rate him highly because he dominates in the VFL then comes to the afl and struggles, however having said that, i think we dont have the right person for that half back role. If he can spend a solid month dominating of the half back line then I would agree he deserves 1 more shot. cool you see how i said " i cant really see a reason for him to be dropped"
-
i would not say he played well by any strech of the imagination however i cant really see a reason for him to be dropped. Its the inconsistant players at the other end that are bothering me.

ESSENDON VFL v CASEY SCORPIONS
ArtificialWisdom replied to KC from Casey's topic in Melbourne Demons
Yeah i like wagner, maybe dropping him is too "knee jerk" of me. It hard because im trying to remember the week before when everyone was so good compared to this week were hogan was more or less our only good player. I feel trenners form is forcing us to look at him which i never really thought would happen coming off such a long time out of the game, but l'm not sure he gets in the forward line or midfield. Well actually I'd take frost out for him but they wont do that -
Too many changes, just last week we couldnt find a way to get some of these guys out. I agree lumumba is a problem but i would astouded if he was dropped his dumb run is what they want but i would move him to the wing where he can get more space. I think harmes and wagner are the 2 most vulnerable even though i think at their best they are both in the 22. I'd bring in Oliver and ANB. Hunt needs to stay in and learn to use his run at this level I would persist for another week or 2. Dunn for Omac? maybe, I wouldnt be upset about that but also wouldnt be super happy either. Garland? hasnt he been dissapointing at VFL level? (I'm not sure of his form this weekend but even if he was good is 1 game enough?)
-
he also missed a sitter by about 3x the distance he needed to kick it. I've been trying to support his place in the team the last few weeks but god that kinda miss makes it hard. Its a momentum killer.

ESSENDON VFL v CASEY SCORPIONS
ArtificialWisdom replied to KC from Casey's topic in Melbourne Demons
I think I'd rather oliver. but i have been wondering about trenners, im not convinced he gets in our best midfield not long term anyway. But what about half back? he is a pretty good kick and a very good mark for his size. Could he play Wagners role (i like wagner but i though he struggled this week) His pace worries me a bit but that second back flank position i think is the one most up for grabs (aside from the second ruckman/forward but we have nobody on the list capable of taking it) -
Not bad look at it. Couple of things about it worry me. The forced switch for one. I dont understand why they choose to make a switch when its not on, if there isnt an extra man on the far side then we are just asking for a turnover, especially when TMac has the ball I love him but he his inability to understand his own skill level (or lack there of) is so frustrating. The press you are spot on, looks fantastic when it's working but when its not calling it soft as butter is a complement. I wish the coaching staff were brave enough to say "ok we have given up 2/3 quick goals lets play man on man for 5/10 min and lock the game down and then reset once we wrestle back some control." Its not a complete change of the game plan just a nice fail safe when things arnt going right. If we were only 3/4 goals down at 3qtr time then go back to the brave footy when we have a chance, rather than being 7/8 goals down and the game is over
-
yeah, it hurt saturday but at least with the last few weeks I was able to go home and say "I saw what they tried to do, it didnt work this time, but we can pick up and go again next week" Unlike the bombers loss when i looked at it and went "were we putting our hands up for witches hats auditions?!"
-
This is a coaching decision. I also find it frustration i was losing my voice yelling at every damn uncontested mark they were getting but I just feel we should be directing that blame to the box more than to the players. I understand playing aggressively but when they kicked 2/3 quick goals to start the 3rd qtr why would we not change to a more defencive structure to stem the bleeding?? I guess it may be a learning thing for the players but god its hard for us supporters to watch
-
Only thing i can say is it has looked good the last 3 weeks when they have put pressure on the ball carrier, just look at all Tom's intercept marks last week. With consistancy I actually am starting to believe it may one day work but i think we are in for some really painfull loses in the mean time.
-
Hard to watch when it doesnt work isnt it! 18 uncontested and only 1 contested mark inside saints 50 is just embarassing
-
infuriating is an understatement, but in this case i dont think we can heap any blame on the back 6. Not much you can do when stkilda have that much space coming out of our forward line. They played bravely 10-15m closer to goal than other teams have. If we had put preasure on up the ground we would be talking about all the intercept marks Tmac and Dunn had. But instead there was little to no pressure and the ball just got kicked over the top. Good luck stopping them when it gets kicked 10m over our heads.

MATCH PREVIEW AND TEAM SELECTION - Round 6
ArtificialWisdom replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
yeah i dont get that either. Like i hate etihad but at least when we play an interstate team the i can understand why. -
Prod me with 10000 i dont care as long as he becomes a superstar
-
Not convinced he gets in the side at all right now I cant take anyone out for him. Oliver, Trac, ANB, M Jones all infront in the queue for me and nobody in the team realy deserves to be dropped. Brayshaw will likely make for now but he still had an influence. I would give Trenners at least half the year dominating at casey to get his confidence sky high if he comes in later.
-
he was out of position against Lloyd winning that contest would have been a miracle, blame the turn over not the last defender tasked with cleaning it up. Falling over was dissapointing but given he barely put another foot wrong that night i think you're finding ways to complain (which is a nice change from us all complaining about everything). Yeah he has room for improvement but give him a break.
-
Haha they don't "give them" gatorade that is a gatorade product placement but yeah poor Roosy struggled a bit though. Yeah agree gawny getting praise from everywhere (he'll love it more than most), Hardwick cops a lot but i actually think he is a pretty decent coach, I mean hell look at the list he has had the last 3 years, its been pretty ordinary outside their top 6 players but he found a way to lead them to finals. Knock him all you want but he must do something right
