  1. If we don't get 30,000 we'll be in a world of trouble. Just read that the Kangas last year were at 27,000 by mid march, so I suppose that's a bit of a benchmark for us to chase.
  2. mate, if you could spare a hundred or whatever it is you can spare, it would be greatly appreciated and help out whichever way you choose. Memberships help our club present a strong image and helps attract sponsors, attention, even more members on some occasions. Debt demolition will help our club rid it's debt so we can start becoming a profitable business, which will help onfield down the track. And demon heartland will allow lots of kids to go to the footy when they otherwise wouldn't, to support the dees and hopefully set up a powerful red and blue heartland. In the end it's your money, any way you spend it will be well appreciated and will help our club move forward. Go dees
  3. Thanks heaps for the pictures, great work! I, like many probably, struggle to put names to quite a lot of the faces but am very excited about the new Demon team coming together
  4. You've never seen it? Or you never saw them beaten in 2008? I'd suggest the latter, and if it isn't, it's probably more to do with you not noticing them before this season
  5. lol, Robbie Campbell and Campbell Brown, has always mixed me up for some reason. Don't really rate Campbell. As usual Eastie, thanks for your interesting insight into the conversation....
  6. New Demonland rule is definitely to never mention ST as a past Melbourne player, born and bred Adelaide player. Crazy to say Watts will be a star, same with Grimes. They've played a total of 1 game between them.
  7. Fantastic news mate!! Hope all is well for you all and you have a ball together! Congratulations!!
  8. Good call, I don't think people are really having a go at him, but it's always good to be reminded to keep a close eye on the things you write on here, and to keep it all in perspective. I do find it amusing how quickly some people want some players to progress, I don't know how footy fans felt about players 40 years ago, but I'm almost certain it wasn't nearly as impatient as it is now (a reflection on many parts of modern life I suppose)
  9. You don't have stats to back that up, because the stats would show that to be wrong. This year he had the second best disposal efficiency in the team (the top was Grimes who had 221 less touches than Wrecker, 8 in total). Indeed, the best DE for someone who had more touches than him over the season had a % 7.5 lower than Wheels. Now, that next player is Daniel Bell who is much maligned around here and whilst I am one to defend him against pretty much most attacks, his disposal does let him down more than it should, so I do not believe these stats to be a completely accurate guide I agree Wheels' kicking has deteriorated and the DE stat is (this year in the Brissie game he had 31 touches at 91% yet I counted at least 5 of his kicks which didn't hit a target directly, but were to the advantage of a teammate, hence they were not listed as "ineffective") I'm pretty sure a few years ago he was in the top 10 for DE, and his 86.9% efficiency this year certainly underlines how useful he is with the footy. Indeed this year, for players with at least 229 possessions (his amount) he ranks 8th in the AFL
  10. Mind you, if we win a GF you can sing whatever the bloody hell you want, I know I will be!
  11. Hawthorn 2008? I don't really rate Brown, Taylor or Renouf. All you really need is to be serviceable in the ruck, to counter any special rucking ability in your rucking oponent, and then become a damaging player around the ground i.e. ability to take marks and kick the ball accurately
  12. Ashes is looking like a tough series, it's always hard playing a well bonded team that stay firm and always look out for each other, with a strong-team-oriented captain at the helm...
  13. It only makes me think of elderly people at an RSL singing along
  14. May have the engagement party the night before, so not sure as yet, but will definitely have a go. Missed the last one at the last minute unfortunately
  15. McDonald seems to be coming into his own here, great catch of Kallis. McKenzie could have just thrown his spot away, odd that he's the back up captain but anyway. Would like to see Devilliers stick around, I rate him pretty highly. Hasn't started too smoothly though
  16. 80 bucks if you go down sat morn and come back sun morning. Does your membership get you into the game? Just stay at the pub all night
  17. I remember getting a flyer for it as part of my membership last year, and i've seen it in some of the magazines the club has sent out. Oh well, at least people are finding out about it, more cash for the club!
  18. Clearly you've never been ice skating
  19. My Dees jacket got a daily workout through Europe, and I got a lot of "nice jacket's!" Wearing the colours is the least one can do, we should be proud to display our club's colours at all opportunities. And yes, I did propose in my Melbourne Jacket!
