If this is Melbourne pumped, I am a bit worry when the Jim stynes factor starts to settle. Fundamental errors costing us and a lack of effort from our most senior players. Hopefully the 2nd half will be a little different. Torch has to replaced on Davey and Green, especially.

Jim Stynes Funeral - Live Feed from St Paul's
Maybe next year replied to Tricky's topic in Melbourne Demons
Just saw some photos and saw Cameron Bruce wearing a Melbourne tie (well at least red and blue). Great to see. I was debating whether this should go in this post as I am scared of the Bruce bashing. Mods, if you want to move it, I completely understand. -
Jim Stynes Funeral - Live Feed from St Paul's

Took the day off to watch the funeral at home in Sydney. I hope salt water on a keyboard is ok as there was a lot of it flowing. A fitting and emotional tribute. Thank goodness for modern technology. RIP Jim. -

Stupid rugby footy show taking forever to finish. I want to see Garry and hear the tribute. Whilst I am at it, I sure hope Fox Footy televise the funeral. I am taking the day off to hear it. Can anyone tell me who to contact? Is SEN playing it live? -
I have been a member for over 20 years and this year moved to Sydney. It has not stopped me from becoming a member. Let's go demon supporters.

Akermanis calls Stynes "A Nasty Man"
Maybe next year replied to Jonesbag's topic in Melbourne Demons
As I said earlier, I am definitely boycotting this show. Channel 9 have done some good things with unfortunate passing of Jim so I want to send them an email to explain. Perhaps if Jason donates all his money to Reach along with a published advertisement paid by him acknowledging he is a twit, I may change my mind. -

I am boycotting celebrity apprentice. I also responded to the article in the comments section. I know it may give him more publicity but I needed to get it off my chest. The guy is a twit. Equally annoying are these anonymous clowns who think they can make jokes out of it. -

I remember crying as I watched Jim play his farewell game. I cried not only for I knew the day his career was coming to an end but in admiration for the man who was loved by so many people hightlighted by the many children from Reach providing him with a guard of honour. I find myself crying once more and for similar reasons. Not only because his days have come to an end but also in admiration for all he has done, not just for the MFC, but for the Community as a whole. I cry in sorrow but in celebration of a man who I never met but could relate to as one would one's own brother, father, son. Rest in Peace Jim and I hope you look down from heaven with satisfaction of a life well spent and a legacy that will never be broken. On a personal note, I moved to Sydney last year and I sit at my desk at work (not doing very much I am afraid); tears in my eyes. No-one here can understand why I feel like I do. He is an inspiration and the message is clear - live for my family, live for the day, live life to the fullest. God bless Jim's family. I admire you all. -

That was meant to be tongue and cheek. who are our small forwards? -
WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - MITCH CLARK

As I said just a concern. Here is a conspiracy theory. Plays crap for 1-2 years and then Melbourne seeks to trade him to Fremantle for nothing. Perhaps a stretch. What I was thinking more is that he misses his family so much he does not play as well as if he was with his family. Common amongst interstate players although I recognise he has been interstate for some time. -
WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - MITCH CLARK

I tend to agree but I think shocking is a bit strong. I have a few concerns: (1) are we too top heavy? Watts, Jurrah, Howe, Clark, Petterd all go for the big marks and are a little slow when chasing the running bigman. Oh to have a young Aaron Davey to crumb and chase in the forward line. Maybe Jetta but not sure. Maybe Nicholson. Maybe Bennell. (2) It is alot of money over 4 years for someone who has settled for his 2nd preference. Will he try as hard as he would at Fremantle? (3) I have a feeling Martin will be used as a spare parts player between defence and ruck and may be wearing the green jacket often. Gawn's place idk. Whilst Clark may play FF, he is likely to play in ruck with one of Jamar or Martin injured. On a positive, Petterd and Jones will welcome another tatt man -not that I am a big lover of tatts. I see others leaving: Bate, Dunn, Maric. I do not think a huge loss but I wish them th ebest and hope noone boos them when they play against Melb. -
As the creator of this topic, all I really wanted to know is if there was any word from Brad Green. I did not intend this to be a debate on whether he deserves 1 or 2 years. I am guessing from the responses that we have not heard anything. I would have thought our captain would give a speech at our B&F but seems like I am wrong. Not sure what that means but it would be interesting to know if any other captains did not talk at their respective club's B&F. Anyway, time will tell. Thanks for the comments everyone. Ps. For the record I think we should offer 2 years on reduced pay and indicate that he will receive no special treatment. If his form is bad he gets dropped. I would also take the captaincy off him and give it to Moloney. Alternatively, if he wants 1 year he can keep the captaincy provided the players endorse it.

This is what i am worried about? Did he make a speech? Surely the captain would be expected to do so.

As I am now living in Sydney (thankfully I missed most games this year but unfortunately I watched them all on foxtel) I have not heard from Brad Green since Mark Neeld. Did he say anything during the Best & Fairest. i thought he may have announce his re-signing at the B&F. In any case, can anyone please update. It is possible I missed it. On a separate note, I am quite buoyant for next year. Dare I say it, maybe next year.

I have it from a good source within the Carlton Football Club that Tarrant will be at the Blues next year. He has an in principle agreement with that club. Making room for Tarrant is Brad FIsher, Andrew Walker and Brett Thornton. I think I would like Andrew Walker at Melbourne for a 3rd round pick.

6. Joel McDonald 5. Jurrah 4. Frawley 3. Dunn 2. Scully 1. McKenzie
-
6. Bruce 5. Jurrah 4. Scully 3. Trengrove 2. Rivers 1. McDonald (for his 1st quarter)
-
I think you will find Moloney will miss again because he reinjured his quad at training on Saturday. My tip for the changes: In: Warnock, Miller Out: Bennell, Watts Personally I think James McDonald has been one of Melbourne's worst over the last couple of weeks but he won't be dropped. If Moloney is fit, then Jones will be out.

6. Dunn 5. Frawley 4. Jurrah 3. Green 2. Scully 1. Garland

6. Sylvia 5. McKenzie 4. Bartram 3. Garland 2. Jamar 1. Frawley Apologies to Bruce as his footskills were great today and was an excellent runner.

Actually I heard Gary Ablett is coming to Melbourne as a direct swap for Jack Watts.

Could not disagree more. Where is the run from our backline going to come from? Our defence is already average paced. I don't think we can have Garland, Rivers, Warnock, Bruce and Frawley in defence at the same time. I see Garland and Rivers as similar players. Personally, I would like to see Rivs in the forward line while we are missing a few. That will allow Cheney to come in or Strauss.Give them game time. Grimes on the ballw ill mean we cannot play Trengove, Scully and Gysberts and I think that is the future midfield with Moloney, Jones and Davey rotating with them. Grimes will be our captain from defence and I can't wait.
