I am sick of people bagging Cameron Bruce on hear. I understand and appreciate that people are entitled to their opinion but he gives his all. As he gets more game time he will regain fitness and he showed today how dangerous he is. His kicking has deteriorated but you could see today that is improving again. He clearly beat Steve Johnson and kicked goals. He is our next captain and he has my full support.
-
I love Nathan Jones. He tries so hard. He goes in and tries to get the ball. He wears his heart on his sleeve. BUT please Nathan practise your kicking. Your disposal today and last week was ordinary. And while I am at it - please do not try and run through 5 players. Other than that you are great and you wear the number two with pride.
-
Maybe not 4 points - I would say two. Let's see what happens next week.

I did not make it to geelong today but I have been watching it on tv. We lost but at least as u say they had a dip. If only they could reduce the unforced errors. That cost us particulrly the 2nd qtr.
-
Don't worry about it. We need more than BArtel and Ling to go. If you had a chance to get Milburn, Ablett and Chapman also, then that would be a different story.

"We can beat Cats" - Bailey
Maybe next year replied to Bring-Back-Powell's topic in Melbourne Demons
He has to say that and rightly so. We can beat the cats. Everyone has to play well but we can do it. We did it a few years back. The problem will be that if we win everyone will say the Cats bet on a loss (understand that illegal). There may be an AFL investigation into what happened. Stay tuned. I remember when Kenya and Bangladesh won a game of cricket. You never know. -
What a genius - now i know what MFC needs to do
Maybe next year replied to Maybe next year's topic in Melbourne Demons
Yes - I was being sarcastic. I will never get that 20 secs back. That was more of a waste of time then turning up to watch Melb play the Doggies. -
What about Jeff White at CHF - This allows Johnson and Meesen to play in the ruck. Jeff White is an accurate long kick at goal. I think we could do worse than use him for about 15 mins per qtr at CHF. He does not have the endurance for the whole game but I think he would enjoy roaming around.

I am not sure how to do these links but I have given it a go. Regardless Matt Burgan is a genius - he has worked out how to solve the problem at the MFC. http://www.afl.com.au/tabid/208/Default.aspx?newsid=57123 Does not take Einstein to work this out.

Agree. Made this comment last week. However, he plays with courage and determination. Definitely a beacon of light over the last 2 weeks.

I heard on the radio about a guy you was yelling abuse at J Mac as he was walking off. That is deplorable. We are all upset about the way the Demons played but let's remember J MAc puts in week after week. It was his 200th game and believe me he was already upset - you could tell from his face. NMo need to yell abuse at this great trier of teh MFC.

Tell him he's dreaming!!!!!! -
Garland, Weetra, Bode to be dropped - Davey out injured. Frawley, Rivers, Moloney, Whelan (if fit) to come in. Green to play HF Bruce on ball and forward pocket B: Whelan Carroll Bell HB: Rivers Frawley Wheatley C: Dunn McLean Morton HF: Green Miller Sylvia F: Robertson Neitz Bruce Foll White McDonald Jones Res: Johnson, Buckley, Moloney Bartram
-
The worst thing Robertson did today in my opinion was kick a goal in the pocket instead of passing the ball to morton free in a better position 40 m out from goal. Morton did everything well to get the ball to Robbo in the first place - ran to create space - pleaded for the ball and was ignored. I just hope Morton does not thing this is how he needs to play (ie. like Robbo). Sure Robbo kicked the goal but how rewarding and motivational would it have been for the young bloke. Remember RObbo - it is about the team. FTR - I like Robbo and he does try his guts out each week. I just think he has become considerably more selfish.
-
My votes for this round = 6 - Nathan Caroll - clearly the best 5 - Jeff White - 2 goals and improved around the ground 4 - Cale Morton - out of hope for the future 3 - Jamed McDonald - gave his all and took on opponents at the right time 2 - Brad Miller - showed aggression, attacked the ball and assited Carroll in the backline (often maligned here but credit where credit due) 1 - Cameron Bruce for his job (mainly 1st half) on the superstar Johnson who kicked goals when the game was won. It was hard to choose between Bruce and Jones but I could not give the last vote to Jones (despite my appreciation for this guy and his endeavour) becaus ehe tries to run around too many people and more often than not gets caught. We all need to understand our limitations. I may be a bit harsh but I can't always give him votes.

Changes which need to be made for next week.
Maybe next year replied to mick2007's topic in Melbourne Demons
I think you are both hard on Miller - he should be playing CHF. Agree on Neitz and Robbo. Garland, Weetra, Bode to be dropped - Davey out injured. Frawley, Rivers, Moloney, Whelan (if fit) to come in. Green to play HF Bruce on ball B: Whelan Carroll Bell HB: Rivers Frawley Wheatley C: Dunn McLean Morton HF: Green Miller Sylvia F: Robertson Neitz Bruce Foll White McDonald Jones Res: Johnson, Buckley, Moloney Bartram -
1980 winning one game for the year and only by 1 point at western oval thanks to one Robbie Flower. What made it worst was there was no priority pick. 8 years later played in a grand final so there may be some light. Just have to wait a bloody long time.

Could not agree more. Courage is admired but silliness admonished. FWIW: Bartram - ok first up Bell - took wrong options Bode - has some potential Bruce - only broke even Buckley - thinks he's superman Carroll - our best today Davey - something is wrong Dunn - good first half Garland - needs more time Green - had his moments Johnson - best big man Jones - thinks he's flower McDonald - tried his best McLean - hands on hips Miller - Melbourne's 2nd best Morton - will be good Neitz - starting to mark Robertson -about the individual Sylvia - tackled the best Weetra - unfortunately too early Wheatley - a wasted kick White - maybe our CHF

I am trying to calm down after returning from the MCG and trying to think about the game. Silly me at Qtr time thought we may win this. They went in hard and they had the better of the Dogs - just not on the scoreboard. If we improve a qtr each rounf we should be ready for the Blues. Just need ot hold on until then. Not sure if I can muster enough courage to trek down to Geelong next week. Maybe by Thursday I will be motivated again.
-
I was bemused to see that the MCG shows Bulldogs highlights at half time and 3/4 time (focussing on Aker). Why can't we have a biased announcer like every other club - when we play the Dogs at the Dome, I get sick of their woof woof woof? I am hating going to the football at the moment - but at least I am going (but that's another topic).
-
Anyone know what his injury is? I was interested to see that at about the 15 min of the 1st qtr he came off puffing, hands on knees, etc. Something obviously not right with him. Then the big injury - looked like he got shot.

Rain today - must change forward line
Maybe next year replied to Maybe next year's topic in Melbourne Demons
If supporters do not come because it is raining or because we are losing are not real supporters and need a mirror. -
With rain expected this afternnon, I think Newton has to be dropped. It is either him or Neitz and we cannot drop our captain. They are too slow and cannot hold chest marks inthe dry, let alone the rain. Speaking of slow, Robbo must chase harder - not call on others to chase because if he does that today he wioll lose his voice and miss out on singing Tuesday night (tongue in cheek). Moloney must come into the team, Davey must play in the pocket under Neiter and Green on the HF line. Miller MUST play at CHF. Above all else, all players MUST MUST MUST apply themselves and stick to whatever game plan DB has created. All I heard this week was how the boys did not stick to the game plan. This can;t be the excuse this week. FWIW, I think we will win this week and am surprisingly excited about going.

Maybe the merge was the answer after all
Maybe next year replied to rednblue2009's topic in Melbourne Demons
Everyone is entitled to their opinion and in this current climate should not be chastised for expressing it. I have been a Melb supporter for over 30 years. I go to every Melb victorian game - soemtimes even interstate. In 1980 I went to just about every game including travelling to Sydney to see them lose by a considerable margin. I will continue to do this while we have a club. FWIW I would agree to a merger if we keep the Melbourne name and predominantly red and blue. In other words I would be happy for the Melbourne Kangaroos with a red V and navy blue and white stripes. We have changed out jumper several times and our mascot name (eg. Redlegs to Demons). I understand this is controversial but I much rather that than a relocation. In any case, people are aloowed their opinions and that is what a message board is for - to express an opinion. In the meantime, I will be there sitting in the rain, cheering on the Melbourne Demons week in, week out. And I will be bringing my two young children,(also members) who hopefully will see a Melbourne FC premiership in their lifetime. As my name suggests - maybe next year.
