We have a serious problem with our senior players and this issue dates back to the Daniher years. I'm not at all surpised at our current situation however recent drafting decisions have made things worse. My prediction is that things are going to get even worse before they improve, but Neeld is still the person to lead us

I am deeply offended that you think that I'm using Jimmy's death as an excuse.
-
Thanks for completely missing my point.

Before we all put the team to the sword just stop and think about what's happened to the club over the last couple of weeks. No one knew just how this was going to effect the players, it was always going to be extremely emotional, they probably were mentally drained even before the first bounce. Give them a couple of weeks at least, then if they're playing the same then fair enough, bag them all you want, but not this week.

Melbourne and the Football World mourn Jimmy Stynes
Jarka replied to hardtack's topic in Melbourne Demons
Just watched the tribute on channel 9, so incredibly moving and touching. RIP Jimmy -
Yes, he does make comical mistakes indeed. I think his best decision is either deep forward or back, basically in a position where all he has to do is run directly at the ball and not worry about the periphals. His goals tonight show his worth, and his size and mobility are rare but as someone said recently, he's going to accidently kick 5 goals at some stage.
-
The ball ended up in his hands forward of centre, he had options everywhere and just didn't know what to do, he tried to play on and was comicly run down from behind. Look, he's a talent, but...

Is Stefan Martin in the team for comedy relief?

I'm probably going to get smashed for this but I agree with BL, I'd also like to see us not dependant on income from gambling sources because of the effect to the community. Sadly at this stage we can't afford to [censored] off our sponsors, that's the price of capitalism I guess.

Thanks for a bit of a chuckle nasher & co. To be fair to 'the master', over the last couple of seasons Davey's 2nd efforts in matches has been extremely poor, which could be the catalyst for his comments. However, as already highlighted several times it's a mistake to see something and make quick assumptions without all the inside knowledge. All you are doing is making uneducated guesses. Davey has had a couple of injury interrupted seasons, he's starting from a very low base, and one thing that I do know is that Misson has every session planned for each player, he knows exactly how much he wants from them every time they train. If Davey isn't doing full sessions you can bet your arse there's a bloody good reason for it. Back to the uneducated guesses, he could still be recovering from an injury or they're taking him very slowly because of his injury history.

The one problem with your post (which is a great one btw) is Aussie's lack of communication with the club. As already pointed out in this thread the club couldn't even get in contact with him prior to him being delisted. That does not appear to be the actions of someone who wants to play at the highest level, and I'm pretty sure that the club would be all over the 'cultural requirements' of his community.

My mum is going in for surgery tomorrow to remove her 3rd tumour, it really is a terrible part of life.
-
I'd really like to be able to post my thoughts on who I believe is the BEST man for the job but the reality is that I have no friggen idea. I don't know them personally and I don't see how they interact with the club on a daily basis and how much the other players look up to individuals. I'm sure whoever is chosen I'll be pleasantly surprised however I'm tempted to reserve the right to critisize the decision in 12 months time if it all turns pear shaped.

BoQ has a terrible reputation in Melbourne, I would hope we'd go with a quality brand instead
-
Just to confirm about BoM, I'm 98% certain that they won't go down an AFL sponsorship path. As previously stated they're more interested in events which are solely Melbourne orientated like the Food and Wine Festival. Source - Conversation with Scott Tanner Basically, forget BoM as an option

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - RORY TAGGERT
Jarka replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Thanks to Snoopdog from bigfooty, he had him going as a rookie pick # 48 St Kilda - Rory Taggart (North Ballarat - midfielder / fwd) Terrific sized midfielder who can play a few different roles and has the ability to push fwd and kick goals. Got a guernsey for VC but not sure he ran out (certainly not the games i saw). Has reasonable pace but terrific agility and endurance. Skills are very good http://www.bigfooty....ad.php?t=885853 Edit: lol stylus, beat me to it!! -
Our baby one arrived, damn the new red and blue looks great
-
Nothing says irrelevant more than being a Footy writer for The Australian
-
Baby, missed the toddler size for our daughter. i'll just have to buy one
-
I'm sure Bruce is a nice bloke, but that's irrelevant. He decided to walk from the club and go to the Hawks via the pre-season draft, he gave the club no chance to negotiate for a trade. That's a bloody disgraceful act by a so called leader. The club managed the list in such a way to guarantee his high salary through to his retirement, he would have been the highest paid player on our list, but he decided to screw us instead. I understand the reasons for him wanting to leave for Hawthorn, I have absolutely no issue with that at all, but the way he did it was disgraceful. Zero sympathy if Hawthorn delists him.
-
Got one for our 6 month old little boy, nice work by the club!
-
The Bulldogs gave them permission to sign him, apparently they were going to delist him anyway so effectively they'll now get something in return otherwise they would have got nothing. Apparently he's good mates with Ward, sounds like a sympathy signing.
-
Would love to have this kid on our list
-
It's just a theory, no idea if I'm right or wrong, but I think it makes sense. Having said that do we know if we're even interested in the u17 kids? Neeld might prefer to use the picks on current players or even just take them to a draft. At this stage it's just uneductaed guesses.
