Will be interesting to see how his value will be affected if he has problems playing out the rest of the season. Are GWS really that stupid to offer $6m over 5 years to a kid with knee problems?
-
Or perhaps the kid is really concerned about how long his knee will hold up for and just wants to 'make hay while the sun shines.'?
-
In the previous thread I mentioned that I believe his management wants him to go but I feel that he would like to stay, but something that I've noticed about his management which I didn't mention earlier is that they have completely changed tack on the reasons why they want him to wait till the end of the year before he considers his options. At the start of the year they specifically stated that they wanted him to wait untill they get more of an idea of where he is at ie at the start of the year he was a no.1 pick who had a good first year, but they wanted to wait till the end of the year to find out how good he'd be so they could get the best deal. They also stated that they wanted to find out the result of the negotiations between the AFL and the players union. In a recent interview with his manger that was linked in the previous thread, he specifically said that it would not be fair to expect Scully to make a decision between the MFC and GWS right now during the season. He repeatedly said 'he can't do that inbetween training sessions' meaning that TS doesn't have the time now to check out their training facilities etc. He made no mention of the previous reasons stated for holding off on talks, just that they were still going to do it that way. I think it's pretty clear they want him to go

I think he'll stay but very worried about his knee, the kid would be desperate to play the rest of the season for obvious reasons but this is a concern

I did a triathlon last November and about 2 months prior to it I spent some time in Malaysia and tried to do some training there...omg it was tough. I is very hard to pull up again if you're not used to it

They had to won and they did, now it's all about the recovery for next week. I really hate this Darwin game
-
Exactly, it was a good performance against a team who plays there more often than us.
-
I really hate this Darwin game, it gives this rabble of a team in Port a chance to beat us and it completely stuffs us for the following week.

Morton really concerns me, I guess the conditions don't really suit him tonight but his disposal has been very poor.

Heath Shaw Suspended for Betting on his Own Team

It's mind boggling that an AFL player could be that stupid, it's the AFL equivalent of the 'no ball' scandal in cricket recently. If the AFL are fair dinkum then he's gone for a full season at least -
Disclaimer: I have no inside info to add to the debate, if you're after new facts skip this post, you'll only find opinion and conjecture only here. It's really sad to see some of the comments aimed at Tom, I know that we all love the club and the emotions run high but the kid didn't ask for any of this to happen, just luck that he was in the right place at the right time. I'm definitely in the 'I believe Tom' camp but my uneducated guess is that there's still a big chance he'll end up going, for the reasons stated below. I believe that there are two driving forces that are against us, but I get the impression that Tom would like to stay (close to home, enjoys playing with the group, blah blah blah) but the driving forces are making things blurry for him to make that decision. First. The AFL want Scully to go (or someone of his quality), and they'll keep uping the ante and tweaking the rules. So many quality kids have turned them down, they're desperate to get a 'big' name up there and they'll do anything and change any rule to get it done. Second. His management. I listened to that radio interview that was linked in a couple of pages back and the one thing that I took from it was clearly they're pretty keen doing a deal. One quote in particular, someone asked him about the offer from GWS and he replied along the lines of 'I would be very dissappointed if he didn't, at the very least, consider the offer.' In fact it seemed like pretty much for the whole interview he was talking up GWS. Once again I don't believe he's made the decision yet though

WTF!!!!! Trengove is not from Adelaide, he's from a town close to the Vic border, in fact it's about halfway between the two cities. There is no go-home factor to Adelaide. Edit: Google map link to his home town http://maps.google.com.au/maps?hl=en&tab=wl&q=Naracoorte

THIS PROVES THAT TOM WAS TELLING THE TRUTH!!! Sorry for shouting

That stat says more about Richmond and Essendon than anything else because we were absolutely terrible over the last 3 seasons.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - JACK VINEY
Jarka replied to einstein251's topic in Melbourne Demons
I agree that tThe standard wasn't great compared to previous years, but on Patton the kid is a giant at this level. Will be interesting to see how he goes with the transition to AFL, could be another Tomahawk? He's not going to have the height/size advantage playing at the top level. -
Over the next 3 years they have an extra $1m in their cap, but they also have 10 extra players, it scales down from there over 5 years from memory GWS would cripple themselves if they would offer that much to Scully over that period of time, they wouldn't be able to offer their young guns big dollars when they start to get to their peak, I don't believe it for a second, also if they are now offering that then all the other [censored] rumours have just been proven to be false.

Credit where credit is due. Everyone involved in this site, from the owner to the mods, have done a great job over the last 12 months. Well done guys
-
Thanks mate. It's true that he's a kid playing footy, but he isn't normal, he is a very special young man.
-
Wolf, thanks for sharing. How does he feel about the club? Does he love it or is it just a business? I don't mind if you don't want to share but it would e interesting to hear, he's close to him and it appears that he has many friends here, both from his old u18 days and from other draftess. I believe the kid, and as much as I'd love for him so sign today I understand why his management has given him the advice to wait.

Seriously, technically anything is possible but highly improbable. TS deciding to go to GWS would be one of his biggest decisions of his life because it would have major implications on his life, both in and out of football. They will NOT negotiate something that important via a fax. This would be accusing TS's management of gross incompetance and flippancy to the highest degree, I know Lynch and co are much more professional than that.
-
Are you sugesting that in October last year Scully's manager and GWS negotiated and agreed on a multi million doller contract purely by fax so Scully could say to the media 6 months later than he and his management have not spoken to them at all? That's what it sounds like you're saying. Look, I don't want to belittle you but that's almost the most ridiculous thing I've seen on a footy forum. C'mon now (in a really bad Father Ted accent), it's just not going to happen. Scully said that they (ie, him, his family or his management) has not received an offer yet, I reckon that covers the fax as well.... People can believe all the rumours they want, but I'm sticking fat to the kid.
-
Have you been to other teams forums like 'Punt Road End'? They are much more savage over there than this place. I have no idea if what you're saying is right or not, I'm also not going to badger you for more info however this reason doesn't make sense at all. All clubs forums are this abrasive, some much more than others (Richmond, Essendon, Carlton, Collingwood etc). Taking into consideration the type of person that Scully is I would imagine that it would be highly unlikely that he would care.
