Makes my 'lets re-recruit Mitch Clark' thread sound like a genius idea. But yep. Let's get him ey.

Oath. It's the little things that I imagine will have a significant say in regards to helping certain players reaching new levels over time. Something as little as Jordan Lewis being on the training track at pre-season. The fact that he is a MFC player now. He chose us because of our list. It's just yet another reason players like Jones, Viney, Petracca, Brayshaw etc will want impress even more coming into the year. You can feel the momentum. And it's certainly gathering speed.

Obviously the attitudes of supporters have no relevance to what is "between the ears of the players". I'm making the point that there are lot of whinging supporters who for whatever reason, get caught up with '6 day break' issues and tend to use details like these as excuses for losses during the season. And the bulldogs showed this year that these fixturing details are ultimately non weight-bearing. Why is this so difficult...

? Many posts in this thread typify the soft Melbourne supporter. Example : The Melbourne supporter that chooses to believe that certain nuances within a fixture will likely determine whether or not we make finals. And I simply said look at what the Bulldogs did last year. Anything is possible. It's ultimately down to mindset, i.e. between the ears. I'm not sure you understood my post.

The Bulldogs last year resoundingly proved time and time again that the game is completely between the ears. Injuries, travel, 6 day breaks, mouth ulcers, etc etc. Many posts in this thread typify the soft underbelly of the modern day MFC supporter. It's really sad.

The above quote was your first response. ^ A response which was typically defensive and suggestive to your brainwashed mind. The poster clearly outlined that Garland would be his first choice to go, BUT he is still contracted. (Inferring that it's problematic and in no way suggesting that his contract should be paid out in that initial post). Is it any wonder why people think that 'your' opinion in regards to what our list needs is completely and utterly clouded? Most obviously I'm as far from an 'expert' as you are, the only difference between us is that your cognition and analysis of things like list management is completely distorted because of the fact that you have formed relationships with the players. Even if there is evidence to the contrary you still go on and on and on about posters not being 'experts' and they therefore have no right to share thoughts about what our list might need or who should go and who should stay. It's so boring man. The last sentence of your post directed at me is the only one I accept and agree with. I'll stop reading your posts. May the thread go on..

Lol. I think his assessment of Garland's history and therefore opinion of Garland is much closer to reality in comparison to yours. See, you have no foresight in regards to list management. And it's largely because of your inability to objectively look at the trajectory of form coupled with the age and games experience of a player who you have emotional ties to and so your view becomes incredibly clouded. Or plainly biased.

They got a big fat zero for Friday night games. I'm ecstatic about it.

Quality fixture for us, an especially good first half, (before the bye). And then the last three games at the G all against sides that we should beat. All-in-all, a serious opportunity for us to make finals. Positives everywhere in this. Can't wait.

Him or Mitch Clark... What?

That's the first I've heard of Melbourne 'the city' having its own list management and recruiting team.. I wonder what they do? (Welcome to the MFC Luke)

Your surprise packet for 2016
stevethemanjordan replied to dazzledavey36's topic in Melbourne Demons
Srsly. Salem, Oliver, Brayshaw, Petracca, Weed have only shown glimpses of what is yet to be untapped. Then there's the further improvement in consistency of performance from Viney, Tyson, Hogan, Watts, Hunt and Gawn. Trengove could potentially be a new recruit if he can bullet proof his body and add some real power in the off-season. Lewis, Hibberd and Melksham as new recruits. All senior players. One of them a a genuine champion player. The change is monumental when one considers that only a few years ago the excitement and potential for improvement was largely based around a couple of high end draft picks. The potential for us to make mega strides is now real. The list is teaming with young talent and the majority of it comprise of players who are within a year or two of each other. One of several ingredients that will boost our chances to win that elusive flag. Clearly we've made it through the eye of the storm and all I can see now is clear blue skies and unearthly cherub beings fluttering about in front of me. The momentum that the Hogan and Lewis signings have brought should not be underestimated in any way. The club is now seriously building. I'm going to take a cold shower. -
The Mitch Clark Thread Reprised
stevethemanjordan replied to stevethemanjordan's topic in Melbourne Demons
It appears whilst I was at work, someone hijacked my account and decided to start a thread about re-recruiting Mitch Clark.... Lol! What a thread!!!! I mean, hah... Pfffftt.... ha.... Ahhh-gah.... Ffffsss... heh... *Gulp* -
Other thread is locked, not sure why. He has now had his papers stamped and is available. Pre-season draft? Past aside, I'd give him a spot on the list for a year as insurance for Gawn. Cats cut Mitch Clark after two-years

Best 22 for Round 1, 2017
stevethemanjordan replied to spirit of norm smith's topic in Melbourne Demons
I'll have a crack. B Jetta O Mac Hibberd HB Vince T Mac Hunt C Lewis Tyson Brayshaw HF Petracca Hogan Kent FF Garlett Weideman Watts R Gawn Viney Jones Int Oliver Salem Melksham Pedo* I think that fourth interchange spot should be used for a versatile tall who can give Max a break and who also may be needed as an extra tall defender. -
Fark the whinging. Supporters are still not quite over our dark days if they're concerned about playing at Etihad. Obviously it's a shithole of a place and in that regard, no game will ever compare to one at the G. But [censored], we need to start looking forward to playing at any ground against any team if we're serious about winning another flag. I can't wait to beat these muppets in Round 1 and march on to a sea of red and blue at the G the following week.

Slightly bending the truth there Wise. I never stated any of that. I said that I thought we needed a mature body and a player who had runs on the board who could sit at Full Back for a couple of years whilst O Mac could continue to develop his body and form at VFL level. Brown was one of a few I mentioned who I thought could fill that gap. As others have suggested, maybe we have a mature-aged player in mind to target at the draft. I hope so. We will be short on quality KP backmen going into next year if we only have both McDonald's and Frost. Especially considering one is physically still way underdeveloped and the other is still learning how to perform the fundementals consistently. Hibberd helps, but I'd be really happy if we pick up an Adams/McGovern etc to help with depth and immediate relief for a young guy like Oscar who imo, shouldn't be playing AFL footy based on his form last year.
-
Talk about painting the picture black and white.. Quality leaders have a significant say in the development and emergence of young talent. That is obvious.
-
Anyone else going to be concerned if we go into next year without a backup for Gawn?
-
I don't know where to begin in regards to naming the positive influences Lewis is going to have at the club and on our playing group. I mean aside from his playing ability, think about the boost in energy levels, inspiration and general performance Nathan Jones is going to have just by being in Lewis' presence whilst walking up the race onto the G. He will make Jones a better player and not only Jones. Our entire midfield brigade and team in general will walk taller. There are a multitude of positives to this acquisition and I want next year to start already.

Still burns me to this day. Was my favourite player.

Yuck.
