Fading second halves
I couldnāt agree more Deecisive. We certainly have so many bigger personnel & game style issues, however, in a game where 1%ers count, Langdonās comments were so naive & so motivating to the Pies supporters and their Players fed off it. I also hate seeing Petracca trying be so popular with opposition players & their supporters by offering opposition players a hand to help pull them up and appearing to talk to them like a best mate at quarter time breaks. I know they tell a joke at the pre-game huddle to lighten the mood, but once that Siren goes, it is business and I cringe when I see Salem & Gawn laughing as theyāre walking to the quarter time huddle after Salem missing a very gettable goal. Encourage him, tell him āto get the next oneā but bloody hell, donāt show any sign of being happy or comfortable. Must start portraying that ruthless, demanding edge all across the ground that May demands & delivers in the backline.

Buddy
Tim Lamb is always trying to be active and is very highly regarded by Player Managers. Naturally, it all depends on the Jackson scenario and how that washes out. We are still of the view that he goes.

Hi Dazz. Our mail is that the Lions have offered 1 year at $750 and there is no certainty that even if the Swans match it now, heād stay. The other big news weāre hearing is that the Swans have told Josh Kennedy that they canāt guarantee him a game next year and surprisingly, rather than retire, heās looking at 1 year offers from both the Kangas & GWS. It appears the Swans are looking to move on from these two great Champions. Also hearing that Geelong has made enquiries about Grundy.

Angus Brayshaw Re-Signs Until 2028
I donāt see them as contradictory. The first post was to suggest that Gus was flushing out the best offer possible so he could take it back to Melbourne to match. Even Tim Watson had a crack at him in the opening of the poorly timed SEN interview, asking Angus to ātell us the Clubs you havenāt spoken to because it would save time.ā Most starting 18 players donāt do this, they ask their managers to ājust get the deal done as I love the environment Iām in, the Club has been great to me etc etc. In the end, Angus brought a 6 year at $850 per year offer to the Club, which is certainly top dollar for a half back who is one severe concussion away from trouble, and significantly more than what the Dees would have budgeted for some time ago. Free Agents certainly get offered āover the oddsā due to not having to cough up a draft pick. My win/win comment was based around the fact that Gus certainly wonāt hit all the targets over 6 years, but he will certainly hit some, so who knows what he ends up forsaking. Perhaps, I was overly generous with my win/win comment, because you know what, the more I think about it, itās a terrific deal for Angus.

Angus Brayshaw Re-Signs Until 2028
Great point Binman about the media. Have you ever seen a player apart from maybe Dangerfield that has started working on his media career so early in his football career? I get the feeling that Gus loves a microphone and heās extremely competent behind one.

Angus Brayshaw Re-Signs Until 2028
Spot on Webber. Jake Niall is way off the mark, another example of āfillerā due to too many vying for space. My intel says Gus has the possibility, albeit, not likely that he would hit every target across 6 years, to match the best offer. If he didnāt hit one single target across those 6 years, he has signed for $600 less. I am firmly of the opinion that it was a win/win negotiation.

Angus Brayshaw Re-Signs Until 2028
What often happens is that the Club gets to sign & retain their player for a little less āguaranteedācoin than an oppositionās guaranteed offer. But then they are often asked to give the player the opportunity to earn that higher amount by hitting performance targets. For example, Angus might have signed for 6 x $750, but has the opportunity to reach $850 in any year by reaching certain targets.

Angus Brayshaw Re-Signs Until 2028
All about the $ with Gus. I donāt believe heās interested in a quick, win/win deal which gets it done quickly and leaves a bit on the table for the betterment of the Clubās TPP. Gus is all about getting the best deal he can. Heās a very confident young man with a big ego who sees himself right up there with Oliver & Petracca.

Farewell Brodie Grundy
GWS is the other Club at this early stage that has approached his Management. BTW, I agree with all your points, however, please realise that a great Organisation explores every possibility as to how they can get better. Clubs talk to Managers about a lot of Players but only a tiny % go anywhere. Who knows where this will go, but I just thought you guys would like to know.

Farewell Brodie Grundy
Guys, most of you will not be pleased to hear this, however, Iām going to tell you what I know. Despite the Coaches continual public support of Brodie, the Pies are keen to move him on IF they can get the right terms. Naturally, Brodie, who is contracted, will not be forced to go to a Club unless he is totally satisfied that they are a successful Club on & off the field. Right at this minute, there are just two Clubs that have had preliminary discussions with his management to get all the facts around his current contract, where his head is at, his physical condition etc etc. I can tell you Melbourne is one of those two Clubs. A lot of water to pass under the bridge, and Iām not saying at this point in time that it will happen, but I think itās perfectly reasonable that the Dees would explore this in the likely event that Luke Jackson departs.

Farewell Luke Jackson
I donāt think Lever will get up for this week, however, if he does, donāt be surprised if Tomlinson plays CHB and Petty goes forward. If Lever doesnāt get up, then I donāt think Petty will go forward. All Iām saying is that there is discussion taking place about retaining Tomlinson to allow Petty to go forward as long as the pillars of May & Lever are there.
-
Farewell Luke Jackson
I believe the Footy Dept are extremely happy & positive about Van Rooyen, in fact they believe he will be a very special player, however, donāt expect to see him this year. Joel Smith is currently training as a Forward, and there is growing interest in retaining Tomlinson and playing Petty as a forward.

Farewell Luke Jackson
Two weeks ago I was told by a Player Agent based in Perth, albeit not Lukeās Agent, that the offer is 8 years at 10.3 million from Freo.
-
Farewell Luke Jackson
I totally agree JD. Iām not sure we can beat Geelong unless we do something different like you suggest. Iād love to see Goody get creative like trying Jackson as a big midfielder which then allows us to bring in another dedicated tall forward such as JVR or Weideman or Petty.

VOTES : Rd 18 vs Port Adelaide
Hibberd SO much better than May.

Farewell Luke Jackson
Thanks Dazz. I canāt remember the Oliver post that he refers to. You seem to be far more competent with the Forum than me, so would you be able to find my Post on Oliver all those years ago so we can check the wording because I have always tried to be careful about never overstating my impeccable intel. Cheers.

Farewell Luke Jackson
I posted on here a couple of months ago that McStay was a done deal to the Pies as they want him as a Key Defender to allow Darcy Moore to play Forward. I think it will still happen, however, I believe there are now certain influential people seriously questioning their List Management team about the length & value of the offer.
-
Farewell Luke Jackson
The Club is clearly aware of his desire to go home, and realise itās extremely likely, however, at this point it is far too early to concede and start talking trade details. The Club will not give up in their quest to retain him, however, they realise theyāre up against it.
-
Farewell Luke Jackson
My very strong mail, and it wonāt come as any surprise, is that Jackson will be playing in WA next year. The Club even offered to move his family to Melbourne recently and it was rejected.
-
Taylor Walker
Our mail is that Darcy Gardiner is almost a lock to Collingwood as a Free Agent and the Lions are the Club that is genuinely interested in Tex.

My 3 word player analysis V Fremantle
Christian was really sick yesterday. Couldnāt even do a very simple favour asked by his management team. Canāt believe he played today.
-
Farewell Luke Jackson
Guys, I can tell you that right now the Club is not overly confident that Luke will re-sign. Personally, I assumed Luke would certainly stay for 2/3 more years of fun, before even considering a move, however, that is far from certain. I can tell you that the absolute appropriate person within the footy Club told me today that they are only mildly confident that heāll stay.

CHANGES: Rd 11 vs Fremantle
Would be very surprised if Selectors named Melksham as the Medical Sub in his 200th game. Shouldnāt be done and wonāt be done by a Club that is getting most decisions right.
-
CHANGES: Rd 02 vs Gold Coast
Only a stubborn fool continues to knock Joel Smith. Some on this site were so negative, theyāre finding it difficult to face up the fact he has turned into a very good, versatile defender that now gets a game in every AFL club.

COVID cases spread at Jack Trengoveās wedding
I suspect it will be reported very soon that a couple of very high profile MFC people have tested positive after attending JTās weekend wedding.
