Poor selection, and still can’t believe he took a running player in Jordan for Spargo and not Petty or Gawn.

Petty is too slow to play in defence. Should never play in defence.

It is now official. The Petty selection has been a serious error. Has looked a mile off. A player in strong form was dropped for him.

Can’t believe they’ve taken a running player off to sub Spargo in when it appears that Petty is a mile off.

They’re asking Hibbo & Rivers to play extra tall on occasions this year so they can get Petty out of the backline which was absolutely necessary to increase their ball speed out of defence. IMHO, you can’t play Lever, Petty, May & Brayshaw in defence against many teams that don’t have 3 super tall forwards as they are all slow movers of the footy. The game demands that your defenders play on and transition the ball quickly into your Forward 50 and those 4, generally love to go back off the mark and assess their options, in the modern game, that equates to an eternity to get it moving.

Definitely not 100% fit, however, he still gets the oppo’s best small/medium forward (Zurhaar). 18 disposals in 3/4 at 88%. My kingdom for such unreliability.

Agree, Hibberd needs to be managed to be cherry ripe for the big games. Reads the incoming ball so well and is so strong & reliable in the contest. Plays on nearly all types from Charlie Cameron who he’s owned for years, to much taller types. Can still break a line and is very reliable by foot. Might be his last year, but is one of the first picked down back for me. So pleased for Chandler, he looked a million miles off in the very beginning, but hard-work is starting to pay off. So much more likely to hit the scoreboard from between 40 to 50 metres than Spargo.

I think Hibberd was our best Defender and after Viney was our second best 4 quarter player. Tigers brought real tackling and in your face intensity, so a couple of panic disposals resulting in turnovers, in a high turnover game would be expected. I don’t quite understand the lack of appreciation for Hibberd amongst many on this site. Couldn’t believe that many didn’t have Hibberd in their pre season best 22’s.

Rest easy DD. It is just about done. They’re just sorting a couple of points with the Dees. There is no other Club as a spoiler, just working through some small operational t’s & c’s with the Club.

I'm not sure they divide the salary cap into areas of the ground, but one thing that is absolutely certain is that once a player is on a contract north of say $800 he’s in the spotlight. It’s often not easy to do, but a List Manager can quickly solve a lot of challenges by moving on one player on a million rather than 2 or 3 for that money, particularly, when that Player is a Ruckman, who as we know, are held in varying degrees of importance by different Coaches. This was an immaculate meeting of needs as the Dees were desperate to replace Jacko and Craig identified Brodie as the best way to solve multiple needs. When you combine what the Dees are paying Brodie, what they had to give up for Brodie, plus what they got for Jacko, in my opinion, this is a truly Golden Deal for the Dees.

As part of Craig M’s presentation for the job, he had a PPT slide that stated that he saw the Pies primary needs as a Key Position Swingman, a midfield extractor & a quick, goal kicking small that could rotate on the ball He presented the problems, so he also presented the solution. He told them that Collingwood has 1 great ruckman & 2 good ruckman taking $2 million out of TPP. He stated that “my game plan requires 2 good ruckman, I don’t need the great ruckman when he frees up $1 million to get me what I need. Graeme W went and got him the first two very quickly, particularly in the case of McStay and then the midfield extractor, Tom Mitchell luckily fell to them during the Trade Period.

Dees are so lucky to have got such a wonderful footballer as a replacement for Luke, but honestly, there’s not a better person in any footy club than Brodie. Ben Brown is a beauty, but Brodie is something special. We had very influential people at Collingwood telling us all the time, that there was no better trainer at Collingwood than Brodie, and one of their Physios recently told me that in his seven years at the Club, as long as you didn’t want to talk footy, because he’s not a footy head, you couldn’t meet a more interesting and engaged person with whom to talk. Also said that he’s so good with the young blokes. I can also assure you all that there are no doubts at all about lingering effects of last seasons injuries, Brodie 100% fit and ready to go.

No doubt that the health & fitness of your list as well as the total luck in the way your Club’s fixture happens to work out in a particular season of AFL are critical to success, and this year, our fixture was clearly the hardest in the AFL. That said, I believe that I have never seen a footy Club in any particular season, team selected & coached on game day with less creativity & imagination. This, despite having so many back up players in form at an undefeated Casey.

I’m in no position to speculate on the Pick exchanges that will happen if Brodie ends up at the Dees, suffice to say that the Pick will be influenced on the salary that the Pies pay & what Picks the Dees actually end up with. My gut feeling, and it is only that, is that if the Pies pay $300 for the entire duration of the contract, then they would be wanting a Pick 14 to 18, which I think would be about right given all the facts, including the fact that Brodie believes he will be in great physical condition come Round 1 next year. Dees are very fair & reasonable to deal with, so history suggests they’re unlikely to offer something unreasonable, eg their 2nd Rounder just because Collingwood are keen to make the trade and there are no other suitors at this time. Dees might like to offer next year’s 1st Rounder, however, Pies will be keen for something this year to help a couple of trades they want to do.

Mate, if Jacko goes, which we’re hearing as of yesterday is still extremely likely, then Grundy will be a Demon. There are a couple of others that I’ll let you know about as soon as it’s appropriate.

Haselby should know based on his Freo connections, however, we spoke to a couple of Player Managers based in Pert yesterday and the feeling is Jackson will be at Freo next year. If Jacko does go, I’m extremely confident that Grundy will be at the Dees.

Well, you might consider moving Petty forward. Heavens forbid, the two Adelaide teams realise they should be offering Petty 5 years on big money as opposed to Isaac Rankine and we lose him. May & Lever are getting older and could be better managed. I’m not convinced that Tomlinson is very good back up. And finally, if he succeeds at CHB, his trade value would be greater if that's what ends up happening.

Why would he think his career is done at 25 and with another year on his contract? Last week he was outstanding in tough conditions, clearly the best tall KPP on the ground. I can’t believe the footy club hasn’t already given him a solid block of training & games at CHB. Bulldogs supporters were saying exactly the same things about Liam Jones and he goes to Carlton and they turn him into an AA CHB. McCartin looked a million miles off it as a Key Forward at the Saints even when he was actually playing, now he’s in AA discussions as a Key Defender. Weideman is such a really good person and the Club invested so much with an early Pick, I believe it is crazy not to try everything to give him a chance at success.

I’ve identified you prior to this post DD as either a hater, or a person who is just envious because he doesn’t know anyone of any importance or influence in the AFL, or quite probably in any sphere of life. Just an ordinary person living an ordinary life in a little country town.

Essendon = 78,579 members in 2022 which has them as having the 5th largest Membership and they have been failing for many, many years. I would suspect that the signing of Clarko would immediately add many thousands to that number. Believe me, they are a "sleeping giant" and I hope they don't get Clarko because I love them being exactly where they are.

You may well be correct and he chooses North, however, what we know is that his Manager is very close personal friends with Barham, the new Essendon President & the appeal of getting Essendon back to being a super powerful, wealthy Club is playing large with Clarko.
