  1. It's not like anything has changed. In 2021 we drew with Hawthorn late in the year, and the questions were asked about our capacity to beat a top 8 team all year. It's 2023. The competition is fairly even and it seems 12 teams are in it with maybe 1 or 2 standouts currently. The weekly referendums on whether you're a Contender or Pretender are going to be asked of you all year, unless you're a dominant team. And if Collingwood go 21/2, then they're the only team that won't be asking that question.
  2. The media loves a weekly referendum.
  3. Exactly. Some DL posters think a loss to Freo ends our season, but fail to take into account that WE ARE CAPABLE OF UPSET WINS AWAY or as UNDERDOGS too.
  4. The most important thing is cap space. I'm pretty sure we don't have much to lure anyone? Unless we lose some players (Jordon, Harmes, another) and find another club to take the last year of the contract of Tmac or BBB ? Although I'm just guessing.
  5. I can see us losing both.....and then beating Collingwood and Geelong. Demonland will be box office for a month. But seriously, there's absolutely no way we are losing to Carlton.

  7. If they'd made the academy bid rules Pick 20+ in 2015, Gold Coast would've drafted Hopper instead and traded him for Richmond's 1st this year, and would be in the best position to land Harley Reid. And we'd have Callum Mills in our midfield instead of Clarry
  8. Roy and Sylvie Pearce are Mummy's Boys, because we're going to draft them in 2036 under the Mother Son rule
  9. You're right. I need to stop booing my ex-wife whenever I see her.
  10. Have the Chasers ever done a sketch of a footy fan in their jumper walking around the supermarket or shopping mall 'booing' loudly at things he finds disagreeable ?
  11. Pick 4-5 seems worth the deathriding effort. 6-12 I'm assuming a negligible difference, and a 'what will be will be' feeling 🤷‍♂️
  12. I bet there's a Cat fan over on their forum that said the same thing last week. Which would be crazy. They're 2 wins and percentage behind us, and they're still equal with us in flag betting markets and interestingly on the same points as Freo. So I don't see how an upset victory by a Fremantle gaining form, completely rules us out for the year - We want the club to rarely drop games, but the reality is we will. If we bounce back and beat the Blues, and one of the Pies or Geelong, we'd still be in the top 4 and we'll still be right in the mix. 4 points Is 4 points, wherever you get it. Guarantee we will get a few 'upset' wins in the next few months too. Its a moot point because we'll beat them this week anyway.
  13. I think you mean burnt tofu. It's TMAC that's burnt steak.
  14. I think it was Caro a month back saying he would be a likely replacement for Dew at the Suns, who she still seems adamant will lose his job at the end of the year 🤷‍♀️ Wouldn't surprise me if the AFL has already stamped his cards and is telling Hardwick to reset and take a break for 5 months before returning, if he wants the job.
  15. He'll have Serong and Brayshaw hanging off each leg and still fire off a handball to a free player
  16. The affair with the Richmond staffer was inappropriate. Blokes not only a bully and a thug, but a deceitful one at that. Good riddance to him.
  17. We're in the Temple of Doom. Every loss is being lowered into the fire pit. And every win, Goodwin retakes the lever and pulls us back up. But 2019-2020 was easily the worse time to be on here imo. And most of us contributed to that.
  18. And I'm sure 95% of the forum will echo that sentiment. However a win 2 weeks later against Collingwood would then have the opposite effect. Footy is a funny game isn't it. Sometimes lose the games you should win, and win the games you shouldn't.
  19. I still feel pretty optimistic about where we are at and think people are underrating Port Adelaide. They're back to being a preliminary finalist capable side and one of the toughest assignments over at Adelaide Oval. The only rut we're in was Ports incredible forward half pressure and they're the best at it in the comp right now. Fremantle and Carlton on our home deck? We'll be fine. I have a lot of faith in our grit and our coaches to make the right changes and for us to get those done without Clarry. 🤷‍♀️ Edit: Obviously Collingwood and Geelong will be tricky. But I wouldn't think losing both makes our season hang by a thread either - we might still be in the top 4. 10 more rounds after that. It's a long season and every club around us will also have their stumbles Edit 2: Yup. Squiggle Ladder Predictor has us in the top 4 in round 16, after going 2/2 in the next month.
  20. Well you're just putting words in my mouth there. Never said it wasn't an enormous loss. And frankly I don't feel comfortable speaking for anyone else anymore. I just made a guess as to why someone would say he's overrated. He's clearly not overrated on an individual level. The point is just that "season hanging by a thread without player x" or "season is over without player x" are comments that have been proven to be melodramatic and overrated in the past. Richmond couldn't win the flag without Rance in 2019 right? (Edit: IF its a hammy tear) he's out for a month, not for the GF. Maybe just calm down. We made it through without Gawn
  21. Probably meant overrated in terms of the impact on a 22 fielded team. It's not the NBA where a missing superstar will derail your playoff series. Our season isn't hanging by a thread without Oliver, because we can win the matches coming up. We just have to get creative.
  22. The game is never sewn up against us in the first half though. Port was never going to sustain that effort for 4 quarters whether they built a lead or not. We had our chance to beat Brisbane needing one too many perfect passages in the dying minutes, and we would've had our chances to beat Port, had they got a big lead with better accuracy. How come Collingwood is the only team that is "always in it" even down by 5-6 goals? Are their close wins flattering? All credit to Port for their 4th quarter. But I don't think anything changes had they kicked straight in the first half. Our run would've just been delayed and we would\ve been fighting against Port AND the time clock. That game was always going to finish a 4 point margin. We could've played better and Port could've played worse. You win some, you lose some. Adelaide Oval is always a hard place to get the win 🤷‍♀️
