  1. The book ‘Between the flags’ covers this in quite a bit of detail if you're interested thankfully there’s a happy ending too !
  2. 1. They are the richest club in the AFL and the complete opposite to North on the afl spectrum 2. They won a flag 6 years ago and played finals as short as 4 years ago - compare that to north or any of the expansion teams 3. Their on field predicament is purely self inflicted through sheer arrogance, poor list management and poor use of their recent draft picks No [censored] way they should get any draft assistance - I genuinely hope they languish down the bottom or go Essendon mediocre style for the next 20 years !
  3. Thanks to the magic of lightning and percentages , the dees are still 3rd on the ladder !
  4. Will be interesting to see which team responds to the delay better - last two times the team behind has come home with a wet sail , albeit falling just short
  5. Serious question- Does Tom Hawkins have carte blanche to argue and abuse umpires?
  6. Double ups with pies , lions and port ,freo and west coast ?
  7. I think if you go back 10 years and ask yourself having this sort of relevance on the big stage is everything we would have dreamed of as supporters , but with it comes the attention and scrutiny. But as mentioned above we did pass the ultimate test in 2021 , the football world now at least respect us and fear what our team can be capable of , but a lot (especially in the media) still hold on to long standing stereotypical grudges and dislike us as a club and our supporter base We’ve come a long way from those dour Sunday afternoon 1.10 games with smug [censored] like Dwaynne commenting on how irrelevant we were
  8. The Age article quotes Eddie as saying “We need to get a bit of fun back into the footy,” he told us. “It’s been pretty tough this week.” The mind boggles, what a circus this is
  9. And also they haven’t hit rock bottom yet , they haven’t been continually thrashed by +100 point margins , or stuffed up consecutive list rebuild or the countless other sources of football supporting misery and embarrassment over decades that most long suffering football supporters (not just melb) have had to endure … it’s just that being in the bottom 4 , let alone winning the spoon is so foreign a concept for the hawks that they might assume they’ve now got it tough, and would struggle to convince their younger supporters to stick fat with them.
  10. My eight-year-old has never seen his footy team win. I don’t want to lie to him cry me a river of wees and poos they’ve only been [censored] for about 2 mins about as fair weather as it gets
  11. It’s always handy when you get to play norf twice in one season
  12. At least we’re not 18th with a bullet like those poor basterds down at Arden St
  13. lloyd meek or Lloyd Braun?
  14. I saw a headline recently where Jed Bews was putting the cats mystery illness down to something they caught in the resort spa …. “ I think the spa got us ….” 😂 https://www.codesports.com.au/afl/geelong/geelong-poised-to-overcome-lingering-pain-of-last-years-83point-preliminary-final-defeat-to-melbourne/news-story/9fdd557b12b3fbed77dafcf16ed5a9e9 nah mate… big Maxy got you !
  15. Special mention early in the 3rd when duckwood gives away a 50 against Langdon and absolutely sooks it up ! “He dived !!!! He f$&@&$en dived!!!” 😂 Then gawny follows up with the goal from outside 50
  16. Not surprising , saints and Brisbane both look like they’re upping the loading like us , both were really fatigued up at the Gabba last week and both are sides entrenched in top 4-6 - so why are we surprised saints would be flat around the bye ?
  17. Here’s hoping that the bombers 150th celebration is as memorable as ours back in 2008 against geelong
  18. Sounds very familiar to an incident when a Hollywood celebrity thought it was ok to walk up on stage and slap someone in response to a very poor joke at someone’s expense - I think the violent response is being underplayed here quite a bit , and all the focus is just on the star player involved poor form all round - and when we least needed it
  19. Meanwhile… the Weid was probably at home drinking hot chocolate and reading comic books in his room
  20. Loving all the stories from demons growing up or living around Essendon in the 80s and 90s - I thought I was alone there . They were simply terrible to us Melbourne supporters. And so I don’t ever dish it out to opposition supporters, stay humble and classy and respectful of the opposition, and at the moment I just let my team do the talking and whisper the sound of silence.
