  1. Even before I knew there was actually a thing as the infamous Chris Sullivan line among the demon faithful , in my younger days when starting to really follow the mighty demons in the early to mid 1990s I have always held that 7 - 8 goal last quarter margin as my point of no return that no opposition could catch up even the most inconsistent or flakiest of Melbourne sides of yesteryear. Knowing the demons blew a 47 point margin from early in the last quarter against the bombers in 1992 as 10 year old had an indelible effect on my demon supporting psyche and confidence following my team for nearly 30 years. A mindset of fearing we would blow our lead rather than an air of confidence to expect to really put the foot on the throat of the opposition. Nibblers goal in the GF to put us 42 points up was enough for me, although Positive lingers snap a minute or so later really settled it officially at 48!!! I know I was not alone there, but most other club supporters (namely hawks or the tigers more recently) probably would have settled at clarries goal late in the third or Big Ben Browns opener early in the last, any neutral watching would have known the contest with our huge momentum shift was basically done at 3qtr time. But us Melbourne supporters were tortured souls of a different kind, over many many years, so thankfully the team kept piling on the goals in the last so we could finally relax! Even BT poked fun at us in the commentary. So now the Norm Smith curse is lifted , the drought is over, we have found our way to the promised land so going forward so do we need to now reset our view on at what point do we feel confident that we are home and hosed ? Is it now 5 goals or 6 goals ? It will be interesting this year post a premiership to see how our psyche as supporters changes, if at all, knowing we can trust our team and to the extent that we banish some of our negative mindset tendencies that we have built up over many years. Thoughts demonland?
  2. Apart from PF and GF they are the 30min minis
  3. Merry Christmas Demonlanders! As is tradition , FoxFooty will playing all of our 2021 wins including two replays of the Grand Final on Christmas Day ! A whole [censored] day of Melbourne kicking the [censored] out the rest of the competition in 2021! No need for those old boring Mariah Carey or Michael Buble Christmas anthems this year to keep the Christmas spirit up while you entertain at home, just keep it on fox footy and be sure to remind any family or friends who donā€™t support the mighty dees whoā€™s the reigning premiers! Merry Christmas and Go Demons šŸ”“šŸ”µ!!!
  4. Basically barrack for essendon, Carlton , hawthorn or the filth who cares anymore ā€¦ weā€™ll smash them again anyways unfortunately one premiership isnā€™t going to earn us the same level of respect afforded to the ā€œbigā€ clubs yet šŸ¤¢
  5. Posters panicking ā€¦.demondland hasnā€™t seen that since early in the 3rd quarter of grand final gameday thread šŸ¤Ø
  6. SMS for tickets just came through now
  7. Got my order confirmed on ticketek website but havenā€™t got sms with tickets yet nearly 30mins later ? Thought that got sent straight away during the season - anyone else had the same experience?
  8. Agree - Just need to watch out for any random bouts of gastro in prelim final week and also lanky opposition ruckman prone to pulling goals out of their [censored]
  9. Iā€™d say the pies were agonisingly close in 2018, the dogs 19 point lead in the 3rd was a mirage. Iā€™m not saying we all werenā€™t [censored] bricks watching mid way through the 3rd but in the final analysis the team flicked a switch , went up multiple gears and obliterated them , same as the cats in the prelim but not as abruptly. I donā€™t think Iā€™ve ever seen a more dominant 40 mins of football ever let alone in a grand final , let alone inflicted by the Melbourne Demons on another team , who themselves destroyed port the week before. It would be truly frightening for opposition teams to see what we were capable of when on in September. I just think saying the dogs were agonisingly close in the article is under selling how awesome we played. There would be many in the media, and football world in general, that were in disbelief that a Melbourne team would ever be capable of winning a flag, let alone doing it in that sort of manner . Hell most of us probably havenā€™t really processed it fully yet.
  10. And Carlton finished 2nd in 1994 - but faced a red hot ox in the 1st qualifying final
  11. The bulldogs were ā€œagonisingly closeā€ to a premiership , yet lost the grand final by 74 points ? šŸ¤Ø
  12. Either way whether itā€™s Richmond , Geelong , bulldogs , whoeverā€¦I donā€™t care ā€¦ but Iā€™m loving the fact now we are the champs so to the rest of the comp I say
  13. Does anyone have any intel around approximate times for this on the 5th ? i.e Early or late afternoon start Hopefully the club provide some details shortly
  14. Relax weā€™ve got this
  15. I remember us winning that joke AFLX premiership a few years ago and thinking this is the first time in 30 years of following the club that I ever saw the red and the blue hold up some sort of silverware - although the aflx trophy was more of a crappy pale copper bronze shade ā€¦ anyways even though Iā€™ve watched the GF replay many times now I donā€™t think the enormity of this has truly sunk in yet. Also the fact that we absolutely owned Geelong this year too and won a game after the siren down at the cattery - I donā€™t think I really took that in at the time as I thought it wouldnā€™t mean [censored] if we didnā€™t end up winning the flag , ditto the prelim pantsing of the cats. But we did it , minor premiers and the flag !! Very comprehensive and very Un-Melbourne like ā€¦ all this attention and focus on us now being the competition benchmark of professionalism and success now will take a bit to get used to! But am looking forward to getting back to the G and to see the team in person holding the cup up - I hope this is before xmas it would be really awesome highlight to this extraordinary crazy year and I think then it will really hit home that we have now reached the promised land !
  16. One of my biggest fears towards the end of the year is that weā€™d do a stkilda and blow it whilst the saints talk about a drought unlike us until this year, over the past 25 years theyā€™ve had probably at least 4 golden chances to break their drought - realistically this year was our only golden chance and thank [censored] we actually took it !
  17. Yes Ethan happy to oblige , but you will need to sort out your own plutonium with the Lybians

Ahhh BBP maybe it was all meant to be ā€¦ a long series of interlinked events over 30 years culminating in the glory of last Saturday night!!!
  19. Nice list deerrrwaynnee!!!!
  20. Ditto here, but then I tried later this afternoon in yarraville and they had copies of both, all seems very adhoc
  21. I believe Dogga and most of the boys have got their MFC tattoos today ā€¦ he ainā€™t going nowhere.
  22. Fellow Demonlanders ā€¦ I know weā€™re all nervous today and thereā€™s a lot at stake for us ā€¦ but remember these occasions rarely come around for us long suffering demons, so try to soak it in , savour the moment and believe. Be willing to be vulnerable, I know thatā€™s hard for us , but this is our time now ! Iā€™m not scared about losing anymore , Iā€™m excited and believe about the chance of winning!! Donā€™t have any regrets later on you didnā€™t enjoy the moment ! Go you mighty demons !!!! šŸ”“ šŸ”µ

  24. Just took the kids for a walk around yarraville seddon wearing my dees beanie , checked out the big demon mural that been on the socials & another house with a large melb flag hoisted high up above the house . Lots of houses decked out with dogs scarfsā€¦ a nice middle aged lady , a dogs supporter , saw my beanie called out and had a chat and said if they lost she wouldnā€™t cry ( which I thought was nice I think she gets where weā€™ve come from) she also said either way at least Geelong arenā€™t going to win ! Canā€™t argue with that pre covid times saw a lot of the dogs players hanging out at advieh so yes itā€™s very bulldog ā€¦ but canā€™t fault the haloumi chips there though Go dees !
  25. This is where I think Iā€™ll be at come grand final eveā€¦.
