This is why i still think we are still one or two draft/trade away from being a genuine top 6 team... While we have topped our midfield up quite well the last couple of years we still lack that really classy finisher on the outside who can break open a game.
-
This club sure does love their foot injuries..
-
Yes he does.. But while off field we were still a mess and the jungle drums were continuing to beat, it was Neale Daniher who held the playing group together and made the sure the politics side of things didn't interfere with his men. The 'not bothering' comment is maybe a tad harsh but not unable to attend a Grand Final due to 'Rabbi' for one of the oldest clubs in AFL history in the biggest sport in Australia was unfortunately not a good look at all.
-
Whats that got to do with Joe? If anything its Neale Daniher that deserves that credit. In fact Joe Gutnick didn't bother to attend the 2000 grand final..

Im guessing we haven't learn't our lesson in bringing in ex players in just for the sake of romance.. Connelly Lyon etc.. Bring in the best available people in like Peter Jackson said on The Couch couple of years ago. We have done that and look how far we have come. In saying that Hawthorn rate Cameron Bruce and Adam Yze (their skills coach) very highly. They have now spent a good couple of years at a club thats won 3 premierships in 5 years. They now know what culture and standards are needed to be a successful side. Something they didn't know at Melbourne. If one of these two were available i have no doubt these would be the only ex melbourne players id jump at the opportunity. The rest don't interest me at all.

Agree. Don't need to go into the finer details, just glad Roosy took them out of their comfort zone. When the going gets tough next year i want to see who puts their hand up and show real leadership.

A thread thats at least worth talking footy.. Please don't ruin it.
-
[censored] effort by the players if true Curry.. if that was the case i wish they could man up and tell it how it is to Roosy's face so we could have delisted him and open up another spot for Rookie/mature age or keep Michie on the main list.
-
Are you talking about one of Jones or Terlich or someone else. While i have enjoyed the work of Mahoney and the list management it was absolutely staggering that both Terlich and Jones were given 2 year contracts when most on here could see where their career was heading.

Watts attack on the ball has been the same since his junior days. Doubt it will change all of a sudden. He is just an incrediblely soft player who just refuses to win the ball when it counts. While i don't expect to be in and under packs there has been so when times he has 2nd guessed himself whether to hard or not.. When its your turn to go you go.

So if Jones can't fix it then name another player on our team that would?

But its ok for him to say i have lost the plot..? Right i see.. Fmd..
-
Ok.. Hated Buckley as a player with pure passion and with the utmost respect to the greag Robbie.. but your being a bit delusional here.. I think you should stop..

As i mentioned we got a DVD made of Robbie Flower from his best years. From his AA days, BnF to his 1987 year which he turned it on. Now i understand there was lack of coverage in football back then compared to now but i honestly don't think its not much difference so say some people who did see him around that time. There is no harm that i have dismissed him in fact i think thats a silly word to use. I have already stated that this was no intention at all to put Robbie Flower down in anyway but in my personal opinion i just though he was just that one step off from being the absolute superstar of the game in the way the likes of Voss, Carey Ablett are spoken about today.
-
Ok
-
Really? Bit odd i reckon because i think they are two different players apart. Seen games where flower would dash off a half back, take 3 or 4 bounces weave through a couple of players and slot a goal from outside 50.. yet to see Fyfe do that.
-
Exactly. I think the lack of success was a big part in his name probably not in the same bracket as those guys. Personally i think David Schwarz was about to hit superstar status if it wasn't for his knee unfortunately. And now i think we are watching one Jesse Hogan appear before our eyes.

Ease up..
-
Was only little when he just retired. As i said we have a whole DvD chock full of Robbie Flowers best years which is seriously worth the watch. As i mentioned he was 2 decades ahead of his time.
-
Fair enough to everyone who said so. Of course i didn't watch evey single game of his career and im sure many didn't due to lack of coverage on tv. Btw i bought grandad a special Robbie Flower DVD for his birthday of most of highlights from his All Australian years and the 1987. Great package. He was 2 decades ahead of the the game in terms of skill and silkyness. He was a star no doubt. During the 90s i watched alot of Carey Voss Ablett Buckley and these guys would no doubt take over games and just dominate through pure physical presence and ability to change course of the game. This is in no way of mocking R Flower at all just an opinion that i think he was just that one step below being the absolute superstar that those 4 get spoken about a fair bit which probably bit unfair on Robbie because i think the lack of success during that era played a role in that. Bit like whats happening to Nathan Jones now..
-
If he could seriously get himself mentally and physically right and prove that he has left his past behind i would absolutely jump at him.. One of the most naturally talented players i have ever seen.
-
The biggest problem Watts has had to face in his career is the constant position move every year. He has never been able to settle in one position.. As guys on here who have played a bit of footy would probably know it can seriously get frustrating if your always getting moved around. I know Watts has the smarts and skills to play as a tall wingman but the club needs to put a stop to it because it hasn't worked.. Play him in the position we drafted him for and thats up forward. With a bigger and fitter Jesse Hogan along with the bigger bodies Dawes/Pedersen and Petracca plus a resting Max Gawn aswell there is no reason why Watts can't play as that 4th half forward that could just float in and out and become a dangerous option. Ball is in his court though for 2016.
