Just remember who we could be potentially dealing with here that is going to cause the biggest road block.. and that's Peter Bell. They have already announced that their asking price will be high. To me I would not be surprised if they demand two 1st round draft picks. Unfortunately I just can't ever see us pleasing Freo with the lack of draft capital we have on our plate. It really is going to take potentially a player trade out.

Will Nathan Jones get a farewell game?

I agree, bit of a nothing article.- Adam Cerra
Mark DuffieldThe West Australian Thu, 2 September 2021 5:27PM Comments Mark Duffield Melbourne have emerged as a potential second suitor for homesick Fremantle midfielder Adam Cerra. It has been assumed that Carlton had the inside running on the Cerra trade after the 21-year-old told Fremantle just days after the completion of the 2021 home and away season that he wanted to be traded back to Victoria. Sources close to Cerra believed the Blues had the draft collateral to get the trade done but have this week confirmed that Melbourne had also shown interest. The Blues have pick six in the national draft which would become pick eight after the predicted early father-son bids for Nick Daicos (Collingwood) and Sam Darcy (Western Bulldogs) which are certain to be matched by those clubs. The sticking point in trade talks is that the Dockers are likely to ask for something on top of that draft pick. It is not clear how Melbourne could get the deal done on draft picks alone given they have no first-round pick in the draft and will not take their first selection until at least pick 36 once you factor in the two early father-son bids. There is no indication at this point that the Demons would be willing to part ways with their Rising Star winner Luke Jackson who was recruited from WA and is contracted for another season. The Demons also have Trent Rivers from Western Australia while Fremantle had shown a very keen interest in Kysaiah Pickett before the Demons scrambled up the draft order to get him in the first round at the 2019 national draft. Rivers, 20, has played 32 games including all 23 so far this season and is expected to figure in Melbourne’s preliminary final team. He is contracted until 2023. Pickett, also 20, has also played all 23 games this season and emerged as a genuine star of the AFL kicking 37 goals, is contracted until the end of 2022. Meanwhile the Dockers are continuing their talks with small forward Lachie Schultz who has been strongly courted by Hawthorn. It is understood Schultz appeared set to re-sign before Hawthorn upped their offer which is now believed to be for three years. Schultz can leave the Dockers as an unrestricted free agent if he chooses to join the Hawks. The Dockers remain optimistic that the 23-year-old will stay. He kicked 22 goals from 20 games in 2021 for a total of 38 from 44 games over three seasons.- Hats off to Kate Roffey

He had recurring calf problems all last year which has carried onto this year.- Farewell Dom Tyson
Injuries. Wrist and persistent calf problems through his time at North.- Farewell Dom Tyson
I too like Domma and was a bit sad to see him go. His 2014 - 2016 period was very fine contributor for us and really made a solid impact through the impact. Always welcome back to the red and blue home.- Farewell Dom Tyson
Looks like it's farewell to Dom's AFL career. Just been delisted by North- Jack Watts Interview
All good points @Colin B. Flaubert. The biggest thing I also took out of the interview and sad in a way because it really did have a bad impact on player’s psychological welfare was just how bad Mark Neeld was for the footy club. You hear stuff from past players like Brad Green and Brent Moloney but I thought Jack touched on the real depths and sensitivity damage it had on the playing group. Some of the stuff Watts mentioned that Neeld use to do was just dead set awful. Full praise to Paul Roos, Peter Jackson and Simon Goodwin in installing belief and confidence back into the group.- 2021 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
Well Mac Andrew has been in our NGA system since he was 14 years of age. That's according to Jason Taylor. But clubs are generally pretty good integrating each year into their development. When they're about 16-17 years of age, club will usually invite them down during the pre season for a week or two and train with the footy club. They also might do some work experience as well during the year. Mostly it's all about building them up into that professional environment so that they're ready from day dot. My take is that the AFL overreacted last year because club recruiters whinged about the whole JUH situation. Jason Taylor is right, there should have been some minor changes and a bit more charity instead of just jumping the gun so suddenly. But, unfortunately it is what it is.- Jack Watts Interview
Agree 100% I think he's papers got stamped when he turned up in poor condition alongside the bleached hair. Even though he managed to play round 1 I think the damage was already done. Interestingly he mentioned Brendan McCartney as well. This is a guy came that from a culture that was built through sheer hard work and a strong culture on and off field. He could probably sense that Watts would not only be a negative influence on our younger players but probably didn't have the work ethic to fit into the culture Goody was building. I look at the way our team is extremely disciplined on and off field and this is a by product from the moment Goody started coaching tenure. This is the exactly the culture he wanted to build from day dot. The net effect also was we picked up Bayley Fritsch with the Watts pick. Fritta has just kicked his 50th goal for the season in just his 4th season in the AFL. Absolute win for the club.- Adam Cerra
Yep. When there's smoke there's fire.- Adam Cerra
Giddy up.- Hats off to Kate Roffey
Would Kate Roffey actually be allowed to attend the game? BTW I think she's done a fantastic job so far..- Jack Watts Interview
Jack went on an open to public podcast to happily discuss his own life and football career. It was a fantastic insight into the dark days that troubled not only him but many other young players. Fans on a footy forum also discussing and reflecting on the exact same thing Jack openly talked about on the podcast. No one got personal, no one called him names and in fact everyone pretty much openly said how much they loved Jack. Don't open the thread if it's going to trigger you so much.- Jack Watts Interview
I know you're still mourning the loss of Watts. So I'm not one bit surprised about this comment. You were also very critical and quite vocal of Simon Goodwin when it all happened and made some pretty pathetic comments towards him. Time to admit the club got it right pal.- Jack Watts Interview
He made an interesting comment. He said when he went on overseas trips with Max Gawn, it was Maxy who was waking up early hours of the morning to go for runs and would try and drag Jack along. Jack said he would complain Max to let him sleep in for a couple of minutes etc. Such stark contrast between both careers..- 2021 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
Isn't he a NGA to one of the Adelaide clubs?- 2021 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
Let's agree to disagree with this one Jack. After listening to Jason Taylor the feeling I had was he had pretty much conceded that Andrew was out of our reach. I'm in the same boat with you though, I'm not really fussed if he gets picked up in the top 20 draft. Still think our biggest need is midfield and half back depth alongside a tall key forward to develop away at Casey.- Will Nathan Jones get a farewell game?
This is exactly my thinking also. I reckon he's asked the club where he sits and they've told him that the medical sub is potentially his spot in the prelim if he gets through full training. If the club didn't think he was a chance they would have pushed him to be back in Melbourne with his wife. - Adam Cerra
