We lost by 10 points.....take out the dodgy umpiring factor (shouldn’t have been in that situation for it to matter) & even if 25% of those forward entries were delivered with eyes lowered & correctly .....if Hogan clunked maybe two marks & if we didn’t have a spate of injuries all at once .....a lot of the above comments wouldn’t be made......our backline was let down by our forward entries.....you may have also noticed that when a team beats us they are now considered premiership favourites so as a team we are actually rated. Opposition coaches are putting a lot of work into us & that is new for us so each time we lose we also learn . It is no surprise that the teams that have beaten us are just a little more experienced & assured at the crucial times ......not necessarily more talented but their top end talent is generally in the 25+ echelon. As a supporter I am excited that we are now seen by opposition coaches as someone to beat....I rate their opinion 100% more than any media hype Am I worried we aren’t going to get there ......absolutely not. We have truckloads of talent...YOUNG....talent & it will take some time. I don’t want to be a Bulldogs ...pinch one & then wallow in mediocrity for the next few years. If you can be bothered to look over the history of the ā€œgreatā€ teams it is generally 7 or so years in the making before they make it but then pretty much all of them are still contending finals today. That is the type of club I want to support & I am extremely confident we will get there.
  2. I think we are good enough to be 7th or 8th & that finals experience is needed to help with our development .....however I agree that the media & def several posters have unrealistic expectations of a still very young albeit talented side. 2019 will be our year to be taken seriously....

Gary pert was moved on for one reason & one reason only ( think Simon Lethlean) ...you can state whatever ā€œpassionateā€ Collingwood supporter etc or whatever else you have heard but this is 100% fact. The filth will be ā€œfilthyā€ because love them or hate them...(i’m In the latter).....he is an amazing operator...well done Dee’s !!!

More than happy to see him go & not necessarily for his onfield performances!!!
  5. In theory..yes.... I still felt they looked flat & Viney alluded to that in his presser. Similar traits to what they displayed in the Bullies game.
  6. I mentioned in a previous post after the Bulldogs game that even though we won...we looked tired. I thought it was our toughest win because we had to grind it out & didn’t look anywhere as ā€œfluidā€as previous weeks. We started the game flat today as well & never really recovered. Six wins in a row is an impressive effort especially given one was in Alice Springs & then the next at Etihad after a short break. A few players kept us in the game today but an enormous amount didn’t have any impact at all. I’m not calling for wholesale changes but Pedersen who has been a great servant is done and Tyson def also deserves another go. Also happy to try some of our young talls. I am under no illusion that we are a work in progress with so much to learn & look forward to seeing what they bring against Port.
  7. Collingwood get plenty of ā€œMarqueeā€ games. I’m not in any hurry to agree to this. Agree wholeheartedly with PJ’s comments
  8. Don’t agree with this at all. Goodwin has created a team that is definitely not reliable on one player. I think the only player who could have a massive loss for us would be Gawn. Losing players like Lever certainly impacts our team but we are so team orientated now with players moving in to different positions and re-setting the game plan when things aren’t working. Point in fact when Lever went off & we adjusted pretty quickly & won in a whole new way. I was very close to the game on Saturday & actually thought the players looked really tired ( did anyone else notice that) but with the 22 all playing their roles ..they ground out a win. I actually thought it was one of our better wins given where we had played last week..Lever going off...Melksham struggling with an ankle & Tim Smith struggling with ankle & sore neck. We have a lot of depth & I for one am excited to see someone else get a chance. I am gutted for Lever but he’s only 22 & will be part of our club for years.
  9. See the trouble is you have no idea what happened & so jump to Ill informed conclusions. The thing is ....it was ā€œjust an affairā€ with a consenting adult ....not really our business ...only affects the people involved and they have to live with it and the repercussions. Don’t care if he comes to the Dees or not ...I just want the best possible person & if it is him ...then so be it. He is a human being who made a gross error of judgement ....not for us too judge & yes I do know what happened & can categorically state it was what it was so you can throw your ā€œconspiracyā€ theory out the window.
  10. Well said ....know for a fact that St Kilda is over the moon with someone of his ilk .....he is very well credentialed & was I believe understudy to Gil
  11. Re-read my post .......I am aware that if we aren’t told the reason then a player is fair game for criticism....I will not repeat what I know as it’s not my information to pass on ....however there is an extremely good reason & has nothing to do with Jayden ā€˜s application or desire for the footy & that is all I will say on the matter !
  12. There is an extremely good reason why this has occurred....so temper your criticism & I am sure the club..player & medical staff will get this right. Sometimes certain ailments are not obvious!!
  13. We all hear something....I hear ( from a Port player) that Balic lived with Harley bennell l in Perth... say no more....don’t hold out a lot of hope.....but only hearsay so will cross fingers that it works out for the Dees ...i’m sure the club are across all these facts as well...but
  14. I’ve just been in Adelaide & read an article by Dean Brogan who was pretty scathing about Ports drafting. Felt that they had made some big mistakes by not holding on to some early picks & draft some youth. If they don’t take the flag this year he thinks they will have some serious problems with their future with not a lot of young talent coming through. It will be interesting to see how 2018 pans out for various reasons. I am still very glad that we have 3 picks in the second round & am pretty confident we will unearth someone with those picks.
  15. How refreshing to hear & read most of the football media (mainly ex players ) laud this trade. One point I absolutely agree with them on is this....we have been to the trade & draft (several times) & we have actually got it right. We don't need any young 18 yr olds ....we need 21 /22 yr olds who are proven & can fit right into our team profile & more importantly team straight away. Let's remember we are not giving up a top 10 pick next year ....more likely a 16 or similar. Why do we want to develop players for two years....our teams profile is then heading up to 25yrs. Pretty much everyone (without a vested interest) is very excited with our team & are predicting great things. I concur 100% . It seems to me that the longer we get away from the past season....the predictions & comments seem to forget about the serious injuries...suspensions...personal illness & tragedy that unfortunately befell the club. We get all the players who won awards at the B&F absolutely laud Goodwin & the coaching panel....rave about the direction the club is taking & are so excited about the future yet we're reading such negative comments on here about all of the above. Derision about young men promising to do their best to take this club forward. I am super excited.....wrapped with all the same things that those B&F players stated & for me the "icing on the cake" would be Jack to stay. If that doesn't happen then I will respect the "decision" because not one person on this forum would know exactly what has gone on at the footy club with Jack. How about a bit of positivity.....my partner is Collingwood & just said that all you hear on any radio station at the moment is how exciting the Melbourne team is & they are right up there in Premiership calculations!!!!
  16. We didn't lose because of our defence...we did not play well & in the last qrt we got smacked in clearances & pressure round the ball & quite frankly we played dumb football...I was there & the only real highlights for Melb was Clayton Oliver & Max Gawn ....quite simply we did not adapt to the conditions...we move on & hopefully get it done against GWS...if we don't then just not good enough...Melb out of everyone has had important injuries & a pretty tough draw given our travel & when it has occured ...so we are still in the 8 and as Goodwin said ...it's not where we are now but where we are at the end of Round 23...our destiny is in our own hands ...
  17. Totally agree...has played all his career with one team where he wouldn't even have to think but he would know their games inside out.....doesn't matter how good you are....it takes time to fit into a new team and game plan....am hoping we will see his game improve as he becomes more comfortable with his team mates & gameplan
  18. Roos explained quite succinctly about the younger players going home on AFL 360......that is the reason that quite often a player is missing from the VFL for no apparent reason. A senior player is not going to get a weekend off but they try to get them home as well ....Hogan is still a very young man......& if you had heard Hogan's interview .....he made it very clear that he was definitely not there to see Freo
