Post Practice Match Discussion - Melbourne v Collingwood
sisso replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
I think he'll play in bursts through the middle, where his size and strength will be an asset at centre clearances. He's probably always going to be a heavy, muscular player - looks can be deceiving though...Ollie Wines is a similar build and that hasn't stopped him developing the tank for big midfield minutes. -

I can't see too much fat there, he's built like a tank but its looks like muscle to me....I wish I was in that bad a condition! -

I agree, and I wonder if its another case of copying what the premier did to some extent...The Eagles went with Lycett and Vardy in the one side and it worked for them, despite having a tall forward line already with Darling and Kennedy. I'd love to see Gawn and Preuss work for us all year but it is a bit difficult to see exactly how it would. Good insurance policy to have another big monster ready to go in ruck though. -

Trac looks great as an onballer, I would expect him to get a lot of midfield time this season, he can drift out of the game as a forward I like him around the action, -
Our midfield depth is very impressive considering Viney Oliver and Jones aren’t playing
-
Never!

Knee op!? I'm not liking the sound of this....
-
You make a very good point: way back in the Rev era when we couldn't play finals 2 years in a row Brisbane had a tired, sore and broken side going into the 2003 Grand Final, which they went on to win easily...

Dees to take on Pies in Scratch Match (22/2/19)

Considering calling in "sick" ahem and easing on in to the city for this one.... -
Training - Saturday 9th February, 2019 @ Casey

Other stuff off the top of my head: Lever and May ran laps, Jones was walking laps didn't do much at all and Hannan was in the gym not sure how much training he did. Vanders also looked strong at training which is good to see from him this time of year. I didn't see KK but he may have been there. -

Went for a quick look, torrential rain and cold hard to really get a gauge on what was going on. Viney, Oliver and Brayshaw all took part in match simulation. Gawn and Preuss had a decent battle but you can see Max is just a much better footballer. Harmes and Salem moved well and Weideman looks to have put on a bit of size. -

Free entry? -
Sound like something weird with the website when I clicked on the link it didn't say sold out....I'd be surprised if they'd sold 1000 tickets to a practice match this far out let alone a sellout
-
Casey you should be able to just turn up I've been to the last few pre season games there and usually get about 5000.....pro tip park in one of the nearby estates and walk to avoid a traffic nightmare!

Stand in Port captain Jack Watts

We’re going to win the Flag next year - what do you do when we do?
sisso replied to Ron Burgundy's topic in Melbourne Demons
Complain that we should have won by more -
Just horrible news....I saw him a couple of times up in the Redlegs area after he retired from Freo he was a very friendly guy, loved a chat and a beer and was happy to engage with any fans who wanted to say gday....he obviously still loved the Demons too
-
And the team they beat in the Grand Final is us
-
Imagine the nuclear melts if Freo win a flag in the next 3 years and we dont

Recruiting a 3rd tall forward to find another 50 goals?
sisso replied to John Demonic's topic in Melbourne Demons
Max will certainly spend a lot more time up forward now that Hogan has gone and we have Preuss...let's hope he works out how to nail those 20m set shots from directly in front! -
The trade feels a bit underwhelming but we probably couldn't do much more seeing as Jesse was determined to return to Perth....might as well move on at least we have 2 players who should strengthen the best 22 for 2019
-
I'd love Jesse to stay but he isn't going to so we might as well bid farewell and not put up with this circus at the end of every season....
-
AFL clubs have to get more professional about this (and by that I mean Fremantle)....we all know that the likely scenario is that all the players who want to leave are going to get to their club of choice by Wednesday but instead of just getting on with it and striking a fair deal we have to put up with days of this crap. Im actually feeling like a mark for getting sucked in to it all!
-
I can’t see him playing CHB personally...assuming he does stay the problem now with Pruess is we have way too many talls he may end up on the ball a fair bit
-
The most controversial Demon with his own supporters since Jack Watts for sure!
