JLT melts in full swing...

May not need 2 ruckmen for rd 1 anyway: Ryder off the ground for Port possible cheekbone injury
-
Out for the year. Career threatening

I live about 25 mins away in Seaford so it’s actually the closest ground for me to get to, don’t mind it out there at all. Main advice is bring a jumper because even if it hits 27 today but halftime when that wind rips through the ground it gets darn cold
-
You’d think we’d win today but pre season results really are quite meaningless
-
We certainly didn’t feel like a small club in those two MGC finals with crowds over 90,000 and our fans were in the majority! I looked around at the stands at all the red and blue and wondered if we have a much larger supporter base than the media give us credit for! I’d certainly say we are a bigger club than North, St Kilda or the Bulldogs, whether 70,000 members is achievable I don’t know but I’m glad Pert and the club are aiming high.

Not to be the voice of doom but the last 3 years the majority of pundits have had GWS as flag favourites and they haven’t even made a GF yet...
-
Much stronger defence this week with May, Jetta and Hibberd you’d expect we won’t leak goals as badly as JLT1
-
Casey are also playing the Brisbane Lions according to the VFL site is that correct? Isn't that a bit unusual to play a team not in the VFL??
-
And so many times since they've beaten us in scrappy wet games at the G holding us to 5-6 goals, frustrating! About time to get a couple back
-
Tom Boyd got the best deal ever considering his output to date (ok so he played well in a GF but still)
-
When’s the last time we even beat Sydney seems a lifetime ago? Wasn’t back when Bails was coaching and we smashed them by 70 was it: I remember that one don’t remember beating them since....
-
wouldnt surprise me if Bedford got a senior game this season...small forwards seems to be able to debut and have an impact at a young age, and from all reports he has a big bag of tricks
-
He’s a freak, already one of the best Melbourne players I’ve ever seen, and how he didn’t go #1 in his draft year shows what an inexact science selecting footballers is...when you think average footballers like Tom Boyd, Jon Patton and Jack Watts were #1

POST MATCH DISCUSSION: Melbourne vs Richmond - JLT 01
sisso replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
May confirmed to play next week be good to see what he brings to the side -
Good effort to kick 16 goals with a young side
-
Carefactor about the result 0, just hope no more injuries...
-
That shoulder looked nasty
-
We’ve shown lots of promise for an exciting season ahead for mine
-
Fair indication of our midfield depth with plenty out but we have an onball trio of Brayshaw Oliver and Harmes...
-
Brayshaw is such a gun
-
Im just not comfortable with so many journos tipping us for the flag! This has never happened in my 35 years of supporting....

Riewoldt rates Hogan as better forward than TMac
sisso replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
I would play May forward if necessary, apart from TMac we don't have any other proven key forwards now Hogan is gone. Weed looked great in 2 finals but he hasn't done enough to prove himself yet, T Smith is a VFL quality player lets be honest and not tall enough at AFL level and Preuss is a ruckman....the rest are small sand mediums. I think May himself flagged he will play as swingman this season with stints up forward as required. When Lever comes back we wil have him, Omac and Frost which is much better tall depth than we have in the forward half of the ground. -

hmmm I wouldn't have a lot of faith in either of those two to anchor a forward line at AFL level...we have so many key defenders when Lever comes back I could see May playing forward a bit, he has shown some aptitude for that in patches. -

I do wonder if we underestimate a little the hole not having Hogan is going to leave in a our forward line...a flare up of that toe injury to TMac and the key position forward cupboard is looking pretty bare, May could end up doing a TMac!
