Dan Houston
By the end of this season he’s going to be a 2x aa, he’s going to be a massive in if we get him. The only downside is it will certainly cost us our first pick in its entirety so we will potentially be giving up a future gun for the now. I guess it all comes back to if you think we still have a shot at the flag with our current group or if we need to be going back to the draft to reload and go again in a 3-4 years time by which point May, Gawn and Viney will all be gone. I certainly think unless we bring in more quality players we won’t be a contender next year

Time to go Goody?
Goodwin is a frustrated coach but this year has been defined by injuries.

Petty Re-Signs for 2 Years
12 months ago everyone would be over the moon at this, we successfully played him into a slump and got him to take a pay cut, now time to put him back and look like a star again

Issac Cumming
So who would Cumming or Huston push out of the team both are mid size defenders or would they play another roll. I wouldn’t have thought this is an area of the ground we are lacking talent in. I know you can only get what’s available but I feel like we still need to be focusing on the talls in key backs, forwards and ruck, May Tmac and Gawn all over 30 with no obvious replacements coming up and only 1 proven key fwd playing at AFL level in JVR

PREGAME: Rd 19 vs Fremantle
We can’t be risking Gawn now if he isn’t 95%, I’d rather play without him this week if it means he is better for it for the remainder of the season. If it hypothetically costs us finals so be it, it’s about more than this year anyway and if one game is the difference we probably weren’t going to be a contender anyway.

Really good effort with our back against the wall missing our 2 best players against nominally a top 4 side. That’s the kind of win that builds culture and one lead by the kids. If the goal is the be a contender for years to come this will be a game that we will be able to look back on. Hopefully we can build on this and make something of it this year to.

Id love for just the crowd noise, nothing worse than be forced to listen to some inane commentary

PREGAME: Rd 18 vs Essendon
Forget which game it was this year that petty got a decent run in the ruck, thought he actually did ok from memory we actually got a few clearances. Where we will miss max most is he’s contested marking work round the ground, Petty is better than our other ruck options in that aspect

PODCAST: Rd 15 vs North Melbourne
Really disappointing that Oliver not only failed to step up without Trac there but had one of the worst games I’ve ever seen from him. He’s clearly not improving as the year goes on and if anything he’s dropping off more the deeper we get in the season. Is it time to drop him to the 2nds or just rest him in till such a time as he is able to contribute at a required level? This cant be good for both his confidence or the team moral to know we a player who is getting a free pass.

Is there any chance Oliver is able to step up in tracs absence, he’s not even playing at the level of an average midfielder. I question why we are even continuing to play him, surely it’s not good for the team moral to have a player who isn’t able to contribute at the level needed.

Deep Midfield Issues
Grundy wanted out when Gawn wouldn’t let him have the number one ruck spot so that was just bad judgment by the club thinking they could play together. Harmes could barely get a game last year and was clearly trending backwards and we drafted Windsor who had taken Jordan’s spot. Brayshaw is the one that hurts and would have allowed more flexibility round the midfield mix without robbing the backline between him Rivers and Salem. With Oliver having the preseason he did it’s no surprise he’s gone backwards and Viney been the wrong side of 30 it’s not surprising his output has dropped If you look at most teams it’s rare they stay up more than 3 years in a row so think this step backwards was inevitable
