  1. Agree on Brayshaw, just such a competitive and smart footballer that does the little things so well. For mine i would keep the side together unless there in injury, soreness or forced absence.
  2. Every time Lumumba has the ball I have my heart in my mouth, i love his run particularly when he is in the clear because it can be so inspirational, however, I get very frustrated when he tries to do it with opposition players around him forcing a turnover. I would like him to be selective with his run and smarter with his ball use, but I am resigned to the fact that this is unlikely to happen. He is more the athlete than the thinking footballer.
  3. you can see the belief growing in the faces of our players. so excited to be there on Sunday nigh with our mob. it so nice to feel pride in our team.
  4. Man love for Bernie who has become the complete player and leader on the field. His talk on the field is really impressive and I have more admiration for the guy than ever. Has to be our best pick-up ever.
  5. Like others, I am really excited about our young boys who showed so much composure and competitiveness despite their tender years and few games. Wow we are building a competitive team.
  6. Invented well before the Greeks, as written in the Veda's 5000 years ago and graphically depicted in many parts of what we now call India.
  7. Biff there are times when it is best to remain silent. Although my guess is that you are not the silent type.
  8. I would hate to think where we would be without Paul Roos and of course Peter Jackson. Also our President as kept a diplomatic and low key profile and not been prone to make wild and outlandish statements about our future. It has been a stable and purposeful period, so much needed after years of turmoil on and off the field.
  9. and despite paul roos attraction as our coach and as an intelligent and good looking man, I will not be watching. I would rather see a matador gored by a bull than watch!
  10. happy for MFC players not to go on that piece of TV tripe and have to play along with the idiots who are all too familiar. it does nothing for the player or the club, just used as bait for cheap laughs, ridicule and foolishness. would be happy for club to keep players well away from the pig trough that is the footy show. max gawn may be funny but he would be made to look foolish and any good opinions that he may have would not get any air time. that he plays good footy for us each weekend is enough for me.
  11. Happy to go in as underdogs in this game and every other at least for this season.
  12. The only interest in game plans is what I see on the field from week to week. More concerned about skills, decision making, disposal, tackling, contested ball, run, spirit , support for team mates and sheer guts and determination.
  13. Genetics? Don't forget the differences between family members. I just need to look at my beloved and her sister. Thank goodness for the differences otherwise I would have been committed many years ago just to escape.
  14. until 2016 season never thought he would make it. Too small , too slow and for a period seemed to lack the fire in his belly. But he is a true success story who has turned his career around. Now one of the first picked. Great achievement by Nev and coaches. Restored the pride and reputation of our indigenous brothers at MFC.
  15. You will feel exactly the same as every other loss that you have witnessed, gutted.
  16. Confident, not a word that I am familiar with. It will take a run of sustained success that includes toppling some of the top sides before I become confident. Another year away I reckon. But my hopes are always present. I really want to see our young kids blossom and become dominant match winning players.
  17. Don't mind the Tiges, long suffering supporters like the Dee's who have endured years of despair and disappointment. In more recent years they have had to suffer the ignominy of being called chokers. Despite my Marxist views, I do see the value of the Indian caste system. It is the glue that keeps Indian society together although increasingly it is being challenged by the evils of capitalism. However, the Dalits or untouchables are a proud caste in their own way. I see the same characteristics of Tiges supporters. They have little hope of achieving Nirvana or even a better life in the next life. The Melbourne Brahmins just need to watch their step as they walk through Yarra Park particularly around the trees and light towers where Tige supporters tend to urinate and defecate. It's always an idea to have a banana or apple to give them. Having some lose change is also recommended as part of having a charitable disposition. Food is always better than money so that they don't use the change for cigarettes or bourbon and coke.
  18. That's pretty rough Daisy, hopefully, readers prefer my novels over listening to Barrett, being sozzled is beside the point. But I get your angle.
  19. and the question choke is given their age profile how long will the success continue.
  20. He is a hack but no journalist Nut. Does he have a degree in journalism from a reputable university? Irrespective, I see him as a football reporter whose only reason for being or relevance is to break stories. This means that guys like DB are desperate for stories and therefore proper fact finding and checking, research methods and balanced reporting go out the window. He needs stories week in week out and that's just what happens.....he provides stories for his employer that justifies his role. Basically, guys like Barrett should be ignored. It's a bit like the old Truth newspaper for those old enough to remember. Truth was a misnomer for rubbish and Barrett pedals rubbish. He has no conscience so he does not care and probably delights in the criticism and commentary around him because it feeds his ego and means that he is being noticed, something common to all egotists. The only answer to football scribes like DB and Lloyd and their negativity toward the Dees is that we keep on winning and build a record of sustained success.
  21. Completely agree would never have Brayshaw out of the team unless injured. Brings so much to the team in toughness, contest, disposal and footy smarts.
  22. Fact is no-one knows. Probably not even Hogan himself. People pretend to know, think they know, have opinions but at the end of the day who knows? It is an industry in which every day second rate media types create news grabbing stories that are pedalled as fact. No-one is held to account so it becomes the story. It is really tiresome and best to be both cynical and detached. Increasingly players jump ship when there is a better deal or other reason such as "going home". Supporters of every club rejoice at picking up a star recruit from another club but become concerned when a player wants to leave their club. Such is the way it is. Swings and roundabouts.
  23. Not to be a pessimist but looking at these line-ups it's hard not have a death wish (for before the game). We look so undermanned compared to North it's depressing . It's hard to see how we will defend let alone get on the scoreboard. I think I might begin soul searching long before the game finishes.
