RIP Robbie Flower - Sad Passing of a True Champion
Adzman replied to KLV's topic in Melbourne Demons
RIP Robert Flower. You changed the game, and will always be remembered as on of the demon greats of the game. -
Worth a look on the rookie list. All our ND picks look to be already spent or will be traded for established talent.

Brisbane's list has been slashed by 10 players due to retirement and delisting. If Merret were to be traded they are in a position to take a pick and player in return. Which player would work as a set of steak knives in a Merret deal?

Wow. Nathan Buckley is only half the coach bluey is and bucks still has a job....just.

I hope he signs on for big bucks wherever he goes. We need pick #3 or this offseason could be problematic.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - HERITIER LUMUMBA
Adzman replied to Moonshadow's topic in Melbourne Demons
Driving Lumumba's price up also drives up the asking price for Beams. This is pie-o-nomics 101. They want more than a first rounder for beams and will play hardball at the trade table. We need to tempt them with Geelong's pick #33 if it come our way. Maybe we do that and swap a 4th round for a 6th round to sweeten the deal for them. -
I like it, but Geelong might feel that is overs for Clark. Also 3 incoming players and one outgoing is challenging for us. Can we pull a gws dom barry move and force them to take a player back, maybe Evans? Might be dreaming there!
-
If frawley isn't worth pick 3, then explain to me why 3 top 8 clubs have offered him significant dollars to come and play with them! He is the top free agent, and the dees deserve top compensation!

Will be interesting to see how this plays out. Wants more $$$ but does one good season warrant a big payday? We have the cash to offer, and could be a viable option for us. Greenwood easily cracks our midfield on this years form. But, we could we be paying overs in salary given one good season? If Roosey strikes out trading for your Dangerfield types and other big names then offering 500k to get Greenwood still meets his objective of improving our midfield. Interesting times ahead.

I honestly thought we would investigate a 3 way trade with Geelong and collingwood. Varcoe for Clark seems straight forward enough. Would prefer a pick but Varcoe improves us even if only for a year or two while the kids develop.

Pfft, first round of the PSD is the only first round pick that will be used on O'Rouke again! His value is low. Shame for him really, but GWS gambled and it didn't pay off. Will be dealt for a second round pick.

I hate the poo wees! Sick of seeing them dominate while other Victorian clubs suffer. Can't wait for the winds of change to blow through and see them fall while we rise. Can't wait until we belt them and watch the poo wees supporters exit the stands during the 4th.

I think Brisbane will get it done with draft picks. Their first rounder, and they might swap this second for the pies 3rd rounder. Beams makes them a dangerous team. Hanley would be great but I feel he is very much required and would be nearly untouchable.

I am not sold on Liam Jones. He was horrible against us in round 15 (1 disposal before being subbed) and not much better in round 8 (8 disposals in another close fought game). I can't say I watch many doggies games, and the truth be told the dees v dogs games where the only doggies games I watched for the 2014 season, and he looked out of place at AFL level and a liability to his team mates. I am sure he has more to offer, and has some development to do, but from what I understand he is seeking more money and more opportunity to play when the side he is with is crying out for a player of his mold? Something doesn't add up here, and I think this is one of those steer clear type situations.

Schroder must have really fallen away. I can recall early this season some cats fans saying he was going to be a player for them after a stellar 2013 in the VFL. Schroder only had 4 years in the system, and at Geelong odds are you are not going to walk into that side. Might still have something to offer at AFL level, but I haven't seen enough of him to say that he is a must draft player for us. I would be looking to cherry pick the players who are in and out of Hawthorn and Sydney's best 22.

How much cap room do the pies have? Beams would be on a decent chunk of change but Danger would want a big deal to move prior to his RFA status next season. I can't see too many clubs having the cap room we have. I think pick #2 and swapping later picks (ie our 3rd for their 4th) gets the deal done. Important to note that Lumumba would be on a decent wage and his incoming salary may reduce what we can offer Danger. Lumumba coming here frees up more cap space for the pies. Danger being on the table may affect the Mitch Clark and Lumumba deals.

I have never met Paul Roos, nor have I met any of his confidants. Yet I can say with great confidence that Paul Roos is not a James Strauss fan. Will be delisted if a home is not found at the trade table. Shame for Strauss, as he was a beautiful kick of the footy, and a nice bloke.

2014 Player Review - # 24 Jay Kennedy-Harris
Adzman replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Showed plenty, but also was exposed plenty. A pre-season will help, and I think he could well lock down a spor in 2015. Looks good with the footy, moves well and is pretty good in front of goal. Fingers crossed he develops further. -
I am less worried about Grimes having a down season than other players on our list. He is a quality person, and works hard on his football. 2014 was a down year, but he has room to grow and improve and Grimes has the right head on his shoulders to make sure that happens. Don't worry about Grimes, he is a keeper. He will bounce back.
-
I haven't seen enough of him yet to make a complete assessment. Looked good at casey some games, and others looked a little lost. Still plenty of time for Harmes, and another year of footy gives us a better look at what he can do.
-
An insurance policy for backline depth at best. If we can land a capable defender during trade week (Frost?) then I think Georgiou may be cut loose.
-
Gawn when fit is now our best ruckman. He is a problem for defenders up forward when resting, and is capable around the ground. If he hadn't have had so many injuries we might be talking about Gawn being one of the premier ruckman in the AFL. FEAR THE BEARD!
-
Same boat as Nicho for me, except Nicho didn't have a contract. Will probably remain on the list until the end of his contract, doubt he will add to his games tally in 2015.

I am far from an expert, but I haven't seen the hype in Dom yet. Roos must see something many of us don't see, and I hope that something is something special. A 2 year deal suggests there is great scope for improvement. If they were a little unsure then they would have inked him for one year, not two. Two years is a great leap of faith from the club. I am really unsure of Dom, and just can't see the potential yet.

Howie had a solid season, and was reliable in defense. With chip moving on, I wonder if he will be moved back forward? Howie looks versatile, and I think it would be hard to trade him unless you got something really solid back.
