If Tyson wasn't an automatic inclusion next week then ANB might be at the top of the list. If Collingwood belt us expect changes, and 3-4 changes sees ANB in the side. If we win or get close, ANB probably plays another week at casey.

Interesting discussion trading Grimes. He is probably the best depth player we have, and appears to be a great clubman. A 4th round pick is about the right currency at the moment, in what has been said to be a shallow draft I would think Grimes is worth keeping over a 4th round pick. Doubt Grimes is in our top 10 paid so there is no salary benefit moving him on.

The best coaches were average players. Great players rarely make great coaches. Lyon and Clarkson are probably considered 2 of the best.

I think Matt Jones and Spencer get left out. Then a toss of the coin, but I'm tipping Michie misses given he was named as an inclusion on the extended bench. Agree with many posters on Gawn, this is his chance to hold the ruck spot down. If he doesn't, like Spencer he might be dealt away for someone who can.

Garland is easily in our best 22. An important player. I do wonder if he will look elsewhere given how tough it's been down back for the dees after the last few years. I can't imagine anyone enjoying that.

Lumumba isn't in our bottom 5 players each week. He also isn't in our top 5 so that sums it up for me.

I don't know much other than Tyson will come into this side for any of the 5-6 players mentioned. I also don't mind Newton as a player, I think people forget he only has 9 or so senior games to his name. He is worth developing and his goal kicking is needed.

I'm convinced they are pulling names out of a hat each week week. Brayshaw should have won it.

It's Age Vs Experience. We don't have the youngest list, but look at the experience of the players we do have. How many 100 and 200 gamers have we got? And of those players, how many of them know how to build and lead a winning team and develop a winning culture? I agree with those who say this year's trade period is important. We must bring the right players in, and make tough calls on those players that are not going anywhere.

Typical. Now that Carlton have hit the skids the armchair experts like Eddie come out and start airing their opinion on matters that don't concern them.

This is a good decision for all involved. Trenners gets to prove to the world he can still be an elite player with a guarantee of a contract in 2016, and the demons get to take a punt on him getting back. Without knowing too much, I'm tipping he took a pay cut from his last deal.

Newton and Riley being omitted means that competition for spots is going to get harder from here on in. Tyson still to come into the side also. Riley really deserved his spot. Are we too top heavy for playing up at Alice Springs? Would have thought we would drop a tall and have an extra mid to help with rotations.

I have been a member most of my life, and one of the hardest things to see is all the kids running around with hawthorn and Collingwood jumpers on. Rarely do you see kids outside of the football in Melbourne colours. If we want serious member numbers, we need a flag. Look at what on field success has done for hawthorn.

Can't see future generations players getting to 400. A 250+ game career will be considered a great effort. The modern game is far too hard on the body to remain at the elite level for multiple decades,

He is giving good backman headaches. There are some teams we are yet to play with some holes in their backline that will struggle to contain hulk. He should take out the rising star award if he continues his current form. Contested marking machine.

Prestia out for 12-16 weeks might take the shine off his trade value. I think we go hard at him.

It's his work ethic on and off the field. I guarantee you with no knowledge that Cross knows the strengths and weaknesses of every opposition player he is up against and never for one second strays from his assignments. Every player is required to study their opponents and their game play before a match up, Cross has built a career out of executing those learnings week after week. I can see him hanging up the boots, but on current form could go another year.

Riley has to retain the sub or be given a look at for a start against Port. He was terrific. I won't get too excited about seeing this sort of performance every week, Riley has done this in the past and fallen away when it counts. I hope he is given a chance, and hope for his sake he can make the most of it.
