  1. Pick 66 doesn't have a heap of value. I'm not buying the Balic hype but I'm happy with this trade. I hope he pans out, but if he doesn't I doubt we find a future 200 game player at 66 anyway.
  2. Agreed. Freo just showed their hand and the bluff is off. 4th round Pick based for balic based on that deal
  3. Would rather trade two first rounders for lever than draft another jimmy Toumpas or Lucas Cook. we paid overs, but we got the player we needed. lets move on from this and call it a win-win.
  4. I can't comment. I have never seen him play, and therefore don't have an opinion. Looking forward to seeing him on the park to see what he is made of.
  5. I'm really happy for him. Once the whipping boy at Essendon, he has come here and made a name for himself without the nonsensical whipping he was getting at Essendon. I dare say he has a few fans out there in red and blue which is great. Loved his 2017, I for one was very surprised by him.

The real cost is integrity and culture. Garland deserves to play out the contract he signed in good faith. Imagine if players decided mid contact they wanted more money because their value went up. It works both ways. If you are mad he is on the list then your dissatisfaction should be directed at list management and not garland.

Just on Garland, if he retires we still have a cap hold for his salary. If we buy him out, same problem. Geelong are going through this now with Bartel and his cap hold. May as well go around another year if that is going to be the case.
  8. It's no wonder Diamond Joe vanished.....

Not convinced by the Kelly rumours. I think we are heavily invested in Lever and we don't have the money for both. Kelly is a gun, but his price tag will be a bridge too far.

He is staying at the saints. I wonder if they will still have the rumoured 1.2m for Kelly after inking Billings.
  11. I am happy for him. He was always the whipping boy with Essendon fans. I'm glad he hasn't carried same tag here at Melbourne. His contributions this season have been valuable.
  12. It's a midfielders medal, so based in current projections it would be Oliver.
  13. Balic appears to have squandered his chance at an AFL career. Once upon a time we had list spots and time to take a gamble on a player like Balic. Nowadays we are looking at consolidating the list. Unless balic can push for selection at freo and showcase his skills, i can't see us taking a punt on him.
  14. If Lewis hadn't of played we would have been pumped. He was our best, and provided much needed leadership to stem the bleeding when momentum was against us.
  15. Gun gun gun. My only question is: Where is that 800k worth of cap space coming from??
  16. I think so. The suspension probably cost us a game that he could of helped us win, aside from that he has been as good as advertised.
  17. Lewis has been ok so far. My concern is that I can't see him playing out that 3 year contract in the 1s. He is an automatic selection this season, but with a fit and developing list he is going to be pushed for games next season. As for the season after....he will be like Garland. On the list but playing in the twos as depth to cover injuries.
  18. He was good last night. A bit of a silent pest. Reads the play well and has good skills in close. His kicking still needs some work but he is playing well and deserves some love.
  19. The AFL experts stroke themselves over Joel Selwood. No doubt Selwood is tough and a strong leader, but Viney is next level tough. I have never seen anything like his performance last night. It is the best midfield performance I have ever seen.

Interesting. From memory one of his sons is about 14 and is a prospect (Kobe?), certainly helps father son nominations if he is down here with dad. Loved the Wiz, wish he had never left.
  21. Here is the thing with Oscar: He just turned 21, was pick 53 in the draft and only has 26 games to his name. He is young, was never expected to set the world on fire and has limited experience at the top level. I think so far he has panned out just fine.
  22. He didn't seem as hard around contests today. I wonder if he is carrying something. Hard to know the impact of leadership as armchair viewers, as bad as he was today I think his cool head would have been very handy today when the game was in the balance. We can revisit his form in a few rounds, today was just one to forget.
  23. Wow. That's actually phenomenal! I hope he is brought up in all Australian talk leading in to voting.
  24. We are getting slaughtered down back. May has to be a top priority going into trade week.
  25. Has played 4 games and has probably been in the top 3 players on the ground in 3 of them! Been an absolute steal.
