  1. You could tell by the look on his face after that goal, he knew it too.
  2. I'm interested if anyone knows if we have won a game with Razor Ray as head umpire?
  3. Must be a conservative. A bottle in each hand would usually be the order of the day.
  4. Who would have thunk it. Glad I'm not alone.
  5. I'm loving watching the tackles stick. It seemed to me, that last year, both Brayshaw and Jonesy seemed to have a friendly competition for who could hit their tackles the hardest. I could add a dozen more boys this year. I found it so frustrating watching our players 'tag' rather than tackle a few years back. It was crushing as a supporter to hear the way we played was soft and to agree with it was a further kick. I'm now starting to feel the chest swell when they're on song, smile when dissecting the weekends games with work mates, even when we lose. Even they can admit we are coming, Oliver and Petrecca seem to attract the most interest. I'm not sure how you go about braking a 50+ year old curse, but, it's time to let go Norm. We're in good hands now and our current crop would never stitch you up the way you were. Let us go and win the 10 in a row you deserved! channelling ghosts of the past? I think I may have lost it.
  6. Agreed. Pretty happy with the recruiting department of late, despite this oversight.
  7. Perhaps they weren't interested, or, maybe we didn't offer enough. Agreed, they definitely would have bought something to the table. Either way, it's given us a chance to get games into the youngsters and allow us to develop our leadership from within. Stevie J may or may not have been a good mix for Petracca. Kelly's form definitely would have benefited our midfield.
  8. I'm loving watching this team grow. The sense of belief, cockiness and comradery, In a strange way remind me a little of the Gallipolli series. That ability to smile in the face of adversity, the self belief to have a crack, egging each other on. With characters like Bernie, Clarrie, Jonesy and Viney a new version could write itself. I guess what I'm trying to say is I love what PJ and PR have envisaged as our brand. The spirit of the digger. Articles like Cam Mooney's below, show people are starting to look at the bigger picture and are liking where we are heading as a club. So stop the micro-scrutiny, take the gaze of the navel and start enjoying the ride. I know we've all been burnt before, but, this is very different. MELBOURNE Melbourne, to me, out of all of the sides out of the eight look best placed to move in next year. They have gone to the draft and got in some high level talent, such as Jesse Hogan, Christian Petracca, Clayton Oliver and Angus Brayshaw. These guys will only get better again. Add that to some great father-son selections in Todd Viney, who will be their next captain and is already a spiritual leader, and young Billy Stretch. Add that to more experienced players like Tom McDonald, Max Gawn and Nathan Jones, and a few very handy recruits in Bernie Vince and Tom Bugg, and the list has so much upside. What I like about the Dees is that they seem to be enjoying playing with each other. Young blokes like Viney just bleed for the jumper and his mates are jumping in behind him. They want to be there and they desperately want success together. That is the minimum starting point and the signs are good. The gap between their good and bad games is getting closer and there is a good culture there now. Paul Roos was criticised initially for his defensive and ugly tactics, but he has taught tis list to defend, win contested ball, and now as they are learning to attack. Next year I’d expect them to take another step under Simon Goodwin. The Demons have a lot of up-and-coming talent led by Jack Viney.
  9. Venables? Sounds like a soccer player. Son of Terry?
  10. Let's hope he stays away from the 'nerve tonic' Rodger Clemmens, from the Yankees, made famous. If that episode of the Simpsons serves correctly, it either caused gigantism or made him act like a chicken.
  11. Fascinating read, apparently 'our' Tom is our best kick. http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/teams/geelong/mitch-duncan-is-statistically-the-best-kick-in-the-afl-but-who-is-the-leader-at-your-club/news-story/c6e40de3c090e45e1411a2eec8aa7202
  12. How about the demise of the Filth?! The carnage from Eddie's Karma bus may well put the battle of Stalingrad to shame. The entertainment factor is becoming engrossing. FIGJAM on the brink of being sacked, this years high draft pick off to GWS, and no points to snare the sons of club greats. I'd love to see Daicos in the orange and charcoal after the pies stole Treloar. I'm loving watching them unravel.
  13. I'm very keen to see his signature. Along with Jetta, McDonald and Hogan (I guess)
  14. A quiet and peaceful existence may be possible in our forward line. If too much money is a problem, a humble salary is more than ok. I'm sure Hogan would be OK sharing the space.
  15. Please No, the guy is a [censored] whose only redeeming feature is that he reminds me a little of grounds keeper Willy. I remember feeling sick as he ran 30m to punch Frawley in the back of the head. I'm pretty sure, to further etch the grudge in my mind, Razor Ray didn't award a 50m penalty, then paid a free kick against us for holding. Two grudges for the price of one, were born on that day.
  16. Bernie's Bunnies. They sure played like them today.
  17. I was surprised to see quite a few posters Picking on Wagners disposal and composure. He is really starting to feel his way and I get a sense of calm when he has the ball in his hands. He seems to be an inspired signing. Was it Vanders who put us into this guy?
  18. Merret Brisbane Thug who enjoys long walks and rolling in his own excrement.
  19. Playing the grand old flag on Sen! Has Hogan signed or is he not going home.
  20. I reckon we'll beat the Hawks, loose to Carlton and beat Geelong.
  21. Just whisper in his ear 'it's a marking drill'
  22. Unfortunately. Good spot. Hey. Speaking of cocktails. Don't think I didn't notice your pseudonym.
  23. have you ever had a Buck's Fizz? A tasty little champagne cocktail and no I wasn't referring to the 81 Eurovision contestants
  24. http://digest.bps.org.uk/2016/06/the-lingering-burden-of-seeing-past.html?m=1 learning to let go. Enjoy.
