What bloody rubbish. He was trying hard all day. V good opponent. And he did win the ball and get it to Fritsch for the winning score
-
What a bloody silly post! His post was quite constructive.

I bet Carlton win more games than they lose. Have a proper look at their team. Vastly more experienced than the Dees. i can’t believe the rubbish on this site. we made 7 changes. 9 of those playing today have not played 20games with MFC. Yet we won. Very lucky but we won. We played 2 kids for their first games, who will play 200 games and more . I think we have recruited brilliantly. Each of Kosi, Langdon, Tomlinson, Jackson and Rivers will be terrific players . Bennell got through the game.He cost nothing, for heavens’s sake him him time you can’t expect everything to gel in one match. I agree that May was undisciplined, Smith was poor, so was Melksham. Tom McD was on a very good opponent . We’ve learned we need one more key forward . Ok, let’s go forward, talk of sacking Goodwin is sickening , let alone stupid In past years we would have lost

I've asked before but don't think I've had a reply. Has KK trained at all this year? If not, and he has no prospect of playing, surely we should re ruin another player?
-
Has KK trained this year at all? Or is he working out in the gym? feel awfully sorry for him but if he is to miss the whole year it's a blow

How long till you geese realise that Lever does not play a key defender role.?He never did in his great last year with Adelaide when they played Talia and Brown in the key roles, Lever as a tall floater. So unless Lockhart has put on 10cm and can play CHB or FB, Oscar or some other tall has to play

Is the club not publishing a list with details? would love to know more about Koladjashnij. If the poor bloke is not recovered after a complete summer break then regrettably a decision may have to be made. Very sorry about this as he can really play.. Not certain when we can add to a list but I was impressed by the bloke from Casey who filled in in the ruck last Friday when Bradtke was off the ground. I wouldn't mind him ( whatever his name is) as a backup ruckman. Bradke looks to be a couple of years away

What's the situation with Joel Smith, Hannan and Petty
-
Lever and May? Spare me. Lever has shown no leadership whatever. Has played poorly far more than the few occasions he has played well. May may be a leader but history shows he, also, won't play many games. By contrast, Viney gets himself up for every game possible and his courage and determination are legendary

Surprised you tipsters are not including Lockhart as the small forward. I though that considering his absence of a preseason this year he was very promising.

I think we should be assured by the 4 out of 12 list managers from other clubs who would have picked Jackson at 3. Sure, 6 would have picked Young, and 2 chose Green. But of the 4 who would have opted for Jackson, a couple absolutely raved about him" we would have taken him in a flash" and they highlighted how well he had developed in such a short time. Unbelievable potential was another comment. He just might be unbelievably good! Young offers a lot immediately but Jackson might ultimately be very special

I'm not arguing about player development. For example, we destroyed Trengove and Grimes by making them captain far too early. I also think that in other hands early on the Jack Watts history would have been very different.

Do you suggest Scully was a bad pick? Starred in Y1, from recollection about 20 disposals in the final quarter v Footscray. Then taken from us by the biggest bid ever from Suns, after year 2. Was becoming a seriously good player with them when he smashed his leg quite horribly and Trengove was a great first year player, and his career was ruined by his foot injury. But in any event, more recently, I believe the drafting of Oliver, Viney, Petracca, Salem, Gawn ,Tom McD, Fritsch, Hannan, on top of recruitment of Vince, Lewis, Hibberd and Melksham, lay the foundation for the next few successful years
-
I suggest you revise your opinion. The draft failures are largely a thing of the past. Since Taylor has been there we have drafted well. Amazing successes from low draft pick choices
-
Well if Stephens is available to us and we don't pick him I will be disappointed. Look at all the forward line players on our list. Those who could expect to be in the team are devoid of pace. I just think Stephens us better than Pickett so, Jackson or Young , followed by Stephens

Poll: Who do you want with our first two picks?
Farmer replied to furious d's topic in Melbourne Demons
Just a reminder. We are v weak in key defence positions. May and Lever quite unreliable, unlikely to play, say, 20 games between them per season. Much as it hurts to say it, we need pitential key defenders -
No mate! Dillon Stephens!
-
If we get Dillon Stephens, I don't give a stuff! Watch his highlight package, fast, kicks great goals. Exactly what is needed

Jon Ralph says Demons are effectively a basket-case team
Farmer replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
Exactly. This is the best post I have read for some time -
Why go past Stephens if available.? Genuine pace, lovely disposal, kicks a very good goal. if he can be got at Number 3 I would be delighted

These senior coaches don't teach skills do they? By the time a kid is recruited he must have the skills. Then teach tactics, game plans etc. why don't we accept that we haven't had a high draft pick for some years. The newbies we played this year were not exactly high-flyers. They were deficient in skills, otherwise they would have been higher in the draft. But they filled gaps left by senior players, and they were not up to it. Inevitably one or two will make it, look, eg, at Harmes. in 2020 we will have one ( at least) exciting new talent. More importantly, if each of TomMac, May, Lever, VDB, Hannan, Joel Smith are available following a decent preseason , if Viney and others who largely played this year but didn't have a preseason, then you will see an infinitely more skilful team
-
I think this is the example which shows there was NO conflict of interest. It is well known that Jack and Ollie were great mates, yet the decision was to recruit Toumpas who was disappointing.
-
I disagree. Pies needed to win by 10 goals. Considerable angst on their bench and coaching area
-
If u r rating Lever today, u r not watching the bloody match. He is awful. Oscar is better!
-
The players don't give a stuff? Really? You saw it tonight and thought that? I can't believe it. They were outclassed. Close to the weakest team on paper that I can ever remember. Guys like Baker and Kennedy Harris ( who didn't play well) nevertheless gave it a red hot go. Fritsch played well, Petty showed a lot, even Wagner had his moments. And at half time we trailed by 3 points. Cameron Ling's comments about Richmind in the wet are dead right, we weren't up to it but no-one wasn't trying
