AFLW: Rd 05 vs Geelong
Mind boggling. We are not talking u12's country football here. This is AFLW, the highest level possible. Over a year since a goal kicked against us in a 4th quarter and we are scoring at nearly double the rate this year. We are truly seeing a freakishly brilliant football team and coach that I hope all MFC supporters appreciate. Wow!

Farewell Brodie Grundy
Without any inside knowledge, the selection of Schache over Grundy was truly bizarre. That he was unused made it even more bewildering. I fully appreciate revealing the full explanation may not have been helpful on the day, albeit announced only 1 hour before the match. Also understand an emotional post match press conference may not have been wise. However, like it or not, this will continually be raised when our finals exit and the new club for Grundy is announced. If Grundy's head was elsewhere and the club felt this, then as disappointing as this would be, most could accept that. Hopefully, the club and player are still on good enough terms to talk this through and have an agreed and amicable exit strategy. As it sits, fingers will continually be pointed which is not fair on either party.

Farewell Brodie Grundy
Want to play in a Premiership I expect Grundy's version will come out when he's traded. Best for Melbourne to be upfront beforehand, else lose more face

Farewell James Jordon
It's because we comply and treat the AFL rules with respect. This is not a reciprocal arrangement, by the way.

Garry Lyon tells Demons to "suck it up"
When I started following football, there were 12 field umpires required each round. Today, there are 72. I would think the amount of 'accredited' AFL journalists have multiplied by much more. As a result, what we now have in both facets of our game, as in the modern world, is quantity over quality. Sadly, this won't change. In amongst the rubbish that we see and read are glimpses of truth and logic. If we deny everything, we are just as ignorant as the repeat offenders we detest. We are a bloody good football team, but should be a great one. This is still very possible with the right changes and planning. It doesn't need an overhaul. The club has a body of evidence over the past 2 years to know, or better understand, what they are. We have good people at the top and if they can sort the wheat from the chaff, which I think they can, we will again see a cup raised.

Garry Lyon tells Demons to "suck it up"
This really is the elephant in the room. No one here will be shocked by this, yet it's our forwards that continually get bagged despite them, as a group, having an injury run from hell. We love those 3 to death, but their 'just kick it' style gets lots of i50's for little gain. Also, as set shots themselves they are poor. To the eye, there seems to be missing that creative handball (like Clarry used to do) that gives the kicker that extra second or 2 to find and hit a target. We have the right core. We just need to change the style and mindset. This is likely a combination of personnel (elite midfield ball users), line coaches and game plan. A KPF would be nice, but is not the Holy Grail. Carlton were missing McKay and May slaughtered Curnow, so that didn't beat us. There's an old saying. It's not the size that counts, but how it's used. Even my wife, who knows nothing about football, keeps telling me this. 🤔

Thank you Demonland
Good points. I'll give an example of how we are, in fact, the best supporters. I went to the game on Friday night with my son. We sat in the MCC members, surrounded by mostly by Melbourne supporters (for a change). We were near the goals where the Carton cheer squad were sitting and to which Carlton were kicking. A Carlton player marked , but his shot on goal missed. 'Hear that?' I said to my son. 'No, what?' he replied. 'Exactly, I said. Nothing. Wait until Melbourne has a shot and misses, and tell me what you hear.' Needless to say, we didn't have to wait long. The boos started loudly when one of our players had the audacity to take a mark in our forward line. Of course he missed, and the cheering was deafening. He looked at me and smiled and said 'I see what you mean'. 'And that, my son, is why we barrack for the team we do, and not them or any other rabble'.

Are we all on the Giants bandwagon?
Surely he has another friend there he 'loves' that he can knock out?

Farewell Brodie Grundy
Ask 1000 people, who is a better footballer, Grundy or Schache, 1001 will say Grundy. Definitely something had occurred that we, as yet, don't know. Very, very sad.

It's what I am praying for. However, being that I'm an athiest, I'm not confident. 🙄
