Farewell James Harmes
I love the bloke. I hope he finishes top 10 in their B & F. But I do also hope he hits Fritsch on the chest again when we play them. 😁

Tim English
Very generous to say Pruess has done well. 10 games in 3 years - all in 2022. When he's not injured, he's suspended.

Substitute Rule to Remain Unchanged in 2024
The lack of responses here would indicate a 'who cares' factor. In the big picture, I get that. But for what it's worth, I would think a no sub, 5 person interchange is both simpler and inevitable, so why delay it? The fact that Corn disagrees suggests that I am right. 😏

Harrison Petty
I'm not sure what that means. We did the Nullarbor crossing (which I loved) in '22 and the accommodation was varied to say the least. The Farm View was easily the best value for money on the trip. I don't know the proprietors from a bar of soap. I deliberately chose Wudinna knowing Harrison is from there and was curious. I was initially going to say I couldn't understand the pull back home, but ours was a one night stopover with no time for exploring, so that would have been unfair. Especially with family, friends and memories there. All that said, it's a long way from Adelaide and like many, I suspect $$$ is the main attraction. And tbh, if the figures quoted are correct, I won't begrudge him.

Harrison Petty
If ever you visit Harrison's home town of Wudinna, I can highly recommend Wudinna Farm View as a place to stay. Beautifully presented and great value. The town has terrible inflation, if the pub is any indicator, however. I had 3 glasses of wine one night, the cost of which rose by $1 each visit to the Bar. A fellow patron brought a 40 pack of smokes - $100. This was over 2years ago.

The year of the Dee
Indeed, we have won 6 GF's in the year the summer Olympics were held. That's 2 more than any other team. We also won in 1940, a scheduled Olympic year, but something else was going on at the time, apparently.

Troy Broadbridge
A hard watch for those that remember. Except that I never have felt prouder of my football club that day. My God, didn't we all want to give Trisha a hug.

Troy Broadbridge
It's staggering to reflect that nearly 228,000 people can be lost because of one act of nature. The 2005 R.1 Melbourne vs Essendon match that honoured Troy was the most emotional game I've attended.

First game?
1971 R18 at Arden Street. I was 17yo and although a Demon from my earliest memory, I had never seen them live. Dad rarely went and I never saw a game with him, despite chasing his car in tears as he went with a neighbour. I either played myself or followed the races in those days. I had started my first job in a bank in the city and had become good friends with a North supporter. Given our teams were playing and I wasn't, we went and were two of a crowd of just 6500 to brave the wind and rain that day. 14 of the 17 match goals were scored at one end. Game day reports show Max Walker replaced 'Crackers' Keenan in the last quarter, we had just 32 handballs for the day and over 100 frees were awarded. I remember we were 26 pts down at 3/4 time but kicked 5 of our 9 match goals in the last quarter to draw the game. My mate's smug look evaporating with every goal. As my mate's brother was good friends with David Dench, I joined them in the social club post match. Last thing I remember was being escorted out mid evening after cheering Melbourne's goals on the replay being shown and singing It's A Grand Old Flag.

Training Ground?
A Premiership and a home base in the same decade...... Who'd uv thunk it? 🫠

How did you become a Demon?
Inherited from father. Only many years later did I find out how he became one. Our neighbours across the road were Melbourne which I thought was just coincedental. It seems my father was a Footscray supporter, despite once being on the Collingwood supplementary list. I'm unsure he even pulled on a Collingwood jumper though, tbh. He was a Preston player and post career involved in coaching the 3rds and 2nds, so the VFA was his focus. Anyway, the neighbour convinced Dad to go to a match at the MCG to see the Dees and he told me the MCG was so much better to watch footy at, that he switched. Pretty superficial reason I thought, but a sliding doors moment I'm glad happened. ❤️💙

Windsor looks like the sprinter of the two. Given Tholstrup is from WA, I'm hoping he's a 'stayer'. 😉

AFLW Sign, Draft and Trade Period 2023-24
Very ungainly kicking style but boy, love her run and carry. Great attack at the contest too. I really liked her Dad as a footballer and had the pleasure of meeting him. She's from good stock.

Dees Young Core Ranked 15th for 2024
With such insight, it's a wonder he hasn't got his own SEN timeslot. Maybe pair him up with a cereal grain (serial pain) we all know? 🌽

Hhmmm....not sure now whether to back him in the Rising Star or the Vic Derby. 🤔

PRESEASON TRAINING: Wednesday 29th November 2023
Isn't great to get the forum back on track. I'm talking to the 90% of Demonlanders who come here for the right reasons. The other 10% (we all know who) can stop reading now. As is so often the case, WCW leads the way again. Like a lot of us post season, I couldn't bring myself to visit DL for a while, knowing the vitriol and poison that you have to troll through to try and get some understanding of expectations not met. Then you see a post from WCW and others that are hurting just as much but don't feel compelled to kick the dog or point the finger at everyone and everything. I must admit, every time I visit here I am hoping to see a WCW post. Her positivity and insightful humour often changes my mood and day. Hopefully, the naysayers here can take inspiration from her view of life and DL can eventually remove those cigarette package warnings about respect and behaviour.

Sorry Andy, didn't realise you'd said exactly the same thing. I should have read all before posting. I reckon it's confirmed as fact then. 😉

Your red and blue face will turn purple in this rain WCW. Better wear a hat so they don't think you are a Freo spy trying to pinch another of our young guns. 😉

Welcome to Demonland: Caleb Windsor
I posted a replay of the Vic Metro vs WA game a few posts back. Do yourself a favour and go to around 51 mins into it. From a WA kick in, you will see Windsor tackle an opponent to the ground. A WA player picks up the loose ball only to have Windsor get up and tacke him also. From this spillage a Vic metro player picks it up and delivers to Watson who kicks his 5th. He's not just a running outside player. Love his work ethic.

Welcome to Demonland: Caleb Windsor
Yep. I was there and he immediately became my favourite player. Pretty sure Gerald Healy called it the best debut game he had ever seen.
