  1. To quote a famous blue-collared Australian, where was THE LAW OF BLOODY COMMON SENSE in all this?!?!?
  2. What a joke. Can we appeal? Will we appeal? What are the ramifications of a failed appeal?
  3. He had 6 possessions after 7 minutes.
  4. 1. Green's goal and subsequent celebration. Not sure if anyone else saw this, but it made Big Jimmy get out of his seat for a prolonged period and give a passionate fist pump to those around him. 2. Jones' goal. 3. Tappy's goal. I'm in love with this guy. 4. Trengove's goal assist right at the end. Not many players capable of that. 5. Sylvia's 2 in 2 mins.
  5. 6 - Moloney: Simply amazing and would be (or at least should be) leading the Brownlow. 5 - Petterd: We just look... different... when he's in the side. Super competitor. 4 - Jones: continues to burn it up. Well done Jonesy. 3 - Trengove: Every time I watch Dustin Martin play I think we may have missed a trick. Then everytime I see this guy play, Irealise we didn't. :-) 2 - Sylvia: game-breaker. 1 - Frawley: back to 2010 form. Apologies to Jamar, Davey, Bail, Watts, Maric and a host of others. In fact all bar Bate and Warnock probably could have snuck in for a vote (and they weren't horrible).
  6. Can you have anything but love for these two South Australians?
  7. Watts was encouraging last night no doubt about it. Last night was the first time I've had a look at NikNat in a while, and frankly I just don't reckon he's that good. Sure, he's "exciting", but he can barely do the basics right. He's lucky he didn't go pick 1 or the blowtorch would be well and truly on him by now. No wonder the media has turned to "Watts vs Hurley".
  8. In. Maric, Petterd, Blease, MacDonald Out. Wonaeamirri, Bennell, Morton, Davey Reasoning: - Maric is no saviour, but he deserves his spot ahead of Wonaeamirri who, as already mentioned above, is yet to play a good game in 2011. - Petterd for Bennell is a no-brainer. Bennell is dangerous at times but doesn't do enough and his hardness is questionable. Petterd, again no saviour but can bring a certain X-factor and target into the forward line. - Blease for Morton. Not an entirely necessary change, but I'd really like to see someone like Blease come in. Someone who is not afraid to take the game on. I'm one of the few remaining Morton fans, but he needs a spell. And finally, the "controversial" move of the week. Davey dropped. Somebody needs to be made a scapegoat, a statement from Bailey that nobody is safe from Casey. Similar to Adelaide dropping Vince, St.Kilda Milne and DalSanto etc... Davey is in poor form, doesn't attack the footy and (most importantly) does not run hard enough. When was the last time he ran a player down? I'd replace him with Joel MacDonald, who despite lacking a touch of polish, will give 100% and actually knows how to lay a tackle. Someone who actually doesn't mind getting his hands dirty.
  9. I don't think we should be pulling the pin with this guy just yet. Woeful last night, and not having the best season, but he is coming off a largely interrupted backend of the pre season and was rushed back into the side with no match conditioning (not his fault). We've seen with Frawley that you can go from hero to zero pretty quickly with limited preperation, so how about we give Morton the same leeway. I'm not too worried about his lack of mongrel, as that's not his role. But his foot skills baffle me sometimes. For someone that was meant to be an awesome kick of the footy when he arrived at the club, he sure has his fair share of shanks. The one last night (3rd quarter?) was cringe worthy.
  10. Maybe because he was the ONLY ONE wearing red and blue (well, white) that actually gave 100% in the first quarter. I'm not exaggerating. He was the only one out there who looked like he g.a.f. early. Faded a bit and on a better night for the team, that perfomance wouldn't get votes. But he definitely deserves some credit.
  11. That was directed at the OP. I'm disgusted with the lack of effort tonight but I'll be there at the MCG with bells on in 9 days time!
  12. 6 - Trengove 5 - Garland 4 - Jones 3 - Watts 2 - Grimes 1 - Jamar was beaten but tried hard. Negative points to everyone else
  13. Actually we received pick 12 from Adelaide for Thompson and directly on-traded it for Moloney. Has worked out pretty well for us, given Thompson wanted to leave. Also, we recieved pick 15 (Dunn) for Jolly in the same period. I wouldn't say we were the winners in that trade, but at least Dunn is starting to repay the faith.
  14. You raise some interesting points but let's not forget BP aced the back-end of the 08 crop with Bennell (pick 35), Bail (70 odd), Mckenzie (Rookie) and Jurrah (PSD 1). Also, Blease had a freak schoolyard accident and is a year or 2 behind where he should be. If he starts pressing for selction at the end of the year, as I expect, then he's on the right track still. Also I think Morton was a good pick. The forgotten man at MFC - I see him being a very damaging long-term player. Not as good as Rioli but if I had the choice between Morton and the other bloke we were considering at the time - Rhys Palmer- it's no contest. Then 2009 was cleaned up, Scully and Trenners picked themselves but to get Gys and Tapscott where they did is brilliant. I think our recruiting has been pretty good, Strauss and Maric aside. I still think Watts will get there as well.
  15. 6 - Trengove 5 - Moloney 4 - Bail 3 - Sylvia 2 - Jamar 1 - Morton
  16. He is becoming an important part of the side, no doubt. Just goes to show that some players come from nowhere. He was a mature age draftee, and to be honest, barely looked up to VFL standard in 2009. I had him pencilled in as a certain delistee, then all of a sudden he got a guernsey round 2 2010 against the Pies and hasn't looked back!!!
  17. Has to be Tapscott for me at the moment. You have to love the way he goes about it.
  18. That's a bloody joke. 60 minute delay, [censored] that, I can't even watch neutral games on that kind of delay without checking the score. Looks like I'll be watching a mediocre stream or following online. Channel 7 are absolute dogs.
  19. 6 - Jurrah: Gives new meaning to the term "match winner". 5 - Moloney: has been a colossus in the midfield so far this year. 4 - Rivers: Awesome. Probably the best game i've seen from him in 6-7 years. 3 - Jamar: Strong presence around the ground. Needs to convert his chances around goal. 2 - Gysberts: Has a touch of the Pendlebury's about him (but long way before he gets half that good!!!) 1 - Jones: showed what he was capable of. Apologies to Big Stefan Martin who has been a revelation. - points to Davey and Green who have to do a lot more as supposed leaders. Tough on Green I know but he needs to lift. Ugly win today but we walked away with 4 points more than I expected at quarter time!
  20. 6 - Tapscott. A few clanger kicks after half time but this guy is made of the right stuff. 5 - Bail. Excellent first half. 4 - Rivers. Improved performance. 3 - Martin. He may not be finished just yet. 2 - Sylvia. A few nice things. Not enough though. 1 - Watts. Encouraging signs before half time. * Forgot Martin
  21. I really couldn't disagree more. Loves sinking the boots into the Dees...
  22. Well he's doing a pretty good impersonation of one then! I believe he had 10 clearances for the game yesterday. I was one who lumped Beamer in with Jones as a questionable plodder going forward, but yesterday reminded me he's much better than that. Just needs to get a bit more consistency into his game, no doubting his best is very very good!
  23. It was 11.18 a piece wasn't it? Drawn games of footy will always bring up "what ifs", given we were behind for 95% of the game I reckon we did well to snag 2 points.
  24. 6 - Moloney 5 - Tapscott 4 - Sylvia 3 - Bennell 2 - Trengove 1 - Garland No to Grimes. Love the bloke but turned it over too much today...
