  1. We lost to Geelong by 95 and St.Kilda the following week by 85. Today's margin was bigger than those two games PUT TOGETHER. Thrashings happen and teams bounce back. But this one will take a while to get over. The scars will be there a long time.
  2. Dunno how many changes there can be, as the ressies were pumped by 20 goals themselves. Big names have to be dropped. You can start with Brad Green.
  3. 6 - 5 - 4 - 3 - 2 - 1 - McKenzie (well beaten by Selwood but earnt his pay-cheque) Slight apology to Watts, the rest can donate this weeks pay to charity.
  4. LOL, obvious sarcasm in the OP. Or maybe not so obvious for some people!
  5. Was expecting to lose heavily but this is beyond that. Absolutely embarrassing. Could be the "kill-shot" (sorry Dwayne) for Bailey tbh. Good to see Captain Courageous stand up!
  6. Interesting that he isn't playing this week. I thought it was just brusing and he wouldn't miss any games? Either the MFC know he is going and are using the injury as a smokescreen, or his knee is stuffed, period. Or perhaps both. It doesn't look overly promosing from a fans' perspective - although you could argue we'll end up on top long-term with 2 juicy top picks for a guy who can't kick with a degenerative knee issue. And saving 700k a year in the process. See, you can make a positive out of any situation when you put your mind to it!
  7. Disappointing, but not entirely unexpected result against a ruthless Hawks outfit. Two positive however, 1) Petterd's smother on Jordan Lewis, late first quarter. Inspirational stuff. 2) Tapscott absolutely wrecking savage with a (legal) hip and shoulder. Wowee. Otherwise a fairly forgettable day.
  8. Wrong. One pick is mid first round, to be taken immediately after the first pick of 9th place. In 2012 that = pick 11. One pick is a first rounder that can be taken immediately after Melbourne's first pick. In 2012 (say we finish 8th) = pick 13. This is using the Ablett compensation as a guide. http://aflspace.com/2010/09/29/geelong-get-two-first-round-picks-for-sun-ablett/
  9. What's going to happen on Sunday? Will Scully be greeted with cheers, silence or boos when he gets the footy and goes for a gallop? I have a feeling he'll be booed, which may eradicate any lingering doubts he has about relocating! Would be disappoint me greatly (even though I'm looking forward to booing him LOUDLY next year). Thoughts?
  10. Obviously a slow week on the Scully-front so these journos need to conjure up something out of their arse to sell a few papers. The whole thing is starting to get ugly thanks to the media. I have no doubt if the club genuinely knew he was going, they wouldn't be playing him. If his "bruised knee" keeps him out for a while I'll be suspicious though.
  11. I remember this guy was worshipped on here in his early years (2006-2007), then hit a bit of a lull and everyone jumped off. In recent times most have started to re-join the bandwagon. There's not much to dislike about Jones of late. He's tough, he's consistent, he kicks goals and he has sorted out his kicking and decision making to the point where he's now an automatic selection. Well done Jonesy. Hard to believe he's only 23, looks about 30.
  12. Fair enough, I was guessing a bit with my estimations. Still, with those picks + the likes of Morton (a #4 pick in another life) gives us some chance of landing one of these kids. And I keep going back to Scully himself, I'm one who still firmly believes he will stay, but I'm almost enjoying the speculation about the handsome compensation we could potentially receive.
  13. If we gave away our picks to GWS, they'd equate to #2 and #9 in next year's draft. They'd be pretty crazy not to take them IMO, given they have to trade these kids anyway. But I agree, we may have other plans. And there's also the strong possibility that Scully re-signs anyway.
  14. Believe me, if he walks and we score 2 gun 17 year olds I'll be doing cartwheels. Don't want anyone at the club that doesn't have their heart in it. However I'm still giving young Tom the benefit of the doubt until I see him in GWS colours.
  15. Getting to the pointy end of the season, does anyone think we have any players in line for AA honours? Moloney has been a revelation but he's up against the cream of crop in the middle. Would be a chance for the extended squad but not much chance of a guernsey in the 22... IMO. Frawley started slowly but his last 2 months or so have been 2010-esque, maybe better. If he can keep going he could be a dual AA at age 22. Exciting. What does everyone else think?
  16. Would be a great result in the event of Scully walking, but would still rather him stay. Just going back to the manager speculation for a minute.. you need to remember that Scully changed managers in March, so the party line trotted out by Mark Kleiman in February may differ slightly to what Blucher is saying now. Blucher was also just using the coach situation as ONE reason for waiting til the end of the season. He wasn't relaying the message directly from Tom. Interestingly Kleiman (now at 3AW) has a twitter account that I follow and has been very vocal in his defence of Tom. His latest tweet said "Why can't people just take the word of Tom." I don't see why he'd voluntarily be saying this if Scully had signed in October under his watch. Not like he's liable anymore... Just some food for thought. I wonder after reading that article, if some Melbourne fans will want him to go.
  17. You're drawing a rather long bow there. 98% sure based on what exactly? The rumblings of David Schwarz? Damien Barrett? Mark Stevens? I see nothing concrete in your post. Just more speculation. If he does go then so be it. He's a gun player and future star but is he going to be any better than Jack Trengove? Dustin Martin? David Swallow? Marc Murphy? Pendlebury? Dale Thomas? Selwood? I'd even mount a case for Jordan Gysberts and Jordie McKenzie. Don't want to undersell Scully, because I love him as a player, but there are gun mids at the top end of every draft, and teams have been winning flags without Tom Scully for over a century. If he does leave we still should challenge for a flag with the list we have. No excuses. By the way I still lean towards him staying but the offer is out there and who knows if he'll take the bait. Certainly nobody on here!
  18. Second would be time on ground %. Not sure on the first.
  19. The Good James Frawley: honestly I'm not sure if I've seen a better player wear red and blue. Fully fit again, he is just unstoppable when he plays like that. Amazing. Stefan Martin: alright I'm gonna say it. Better than Jamar. At the moment anyway. Terrific last quarter. Some good work by the usual suspects (Moloney, Sylvia, Jones) throughout the midfield. Trengove, I do love you. The Bad/Ugly Don't like to divulge in this after a solid enough win but Morton worries me. And I've been a long-time Cale fan!
  20. 6 - Stefan Martin 5 - James Frawley 4 - Ricky Petterd 3 - Jack Trengove 2 - Colin Sylvia 1 - Addam Maric Apologies to Moloney and a couple of others.
  21. Rather uninspiring game of footy and not one I'll remember for life's eternity, but 4 points is better than 0 points. Special mention to James Frawley, who in my opinion is UNSTOPPABLE in that kind of form. And to Stefan Martin, who has gone from borderline hack to pure awesomeness over one pre season. Well done Demons.
  22. Hard to get into this game. We're doing enough I suppose but I really want to see us put the foot down after half time. Port are rubbish. Trengove's ripping them a new a-hole.
  23. Level 3 on the wing is actually a pretty good spot to watch the footy at Etihad, IMO. Would willingly sit there ahead of level 1. Given it's going to be a rubbish crowd, should be no problems finding a good seat up there. Pity we will lose like always though.
  24. Because as Peter Blucher put it "you can't make a life-changing decision in between training sessions".
