You've been less than welcoming of GNF's posts in the past, tell me why he should all of a sudden buckle to YOUR demands? Clearly the guy isn't the saviour, and was certainly starting to drink some of his own bathwater, but I still enjoyed the riddles... even if they didn't eventuate.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - SAM FROST
Bang Bang Bang replied to Gipsy Danger's topic in Melbourne Demons
I don't think that matters. Normally you wouldn't pay pick 23 for an unproven player that you can potentially get in the PSD. But I'm happy with an extra pick in the 3rd round, as talent can easily be plucked there. -
WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - SAM FROST
Bang Bang Bang replied to Gipsy Danger's topic in Melbourne Demons
My initial thought was that we paid overs, but upon reflection, it's a nice deal for us. Frost, I don't know anything about him but Roos clearly sees something and at worst he'll play a Georgiou-type depth role. At best he'll be a regular senior player. Happy to get him. Downgrading pick 23 to 40 isn't so bad, and an extra pick at 52 is a bonus. We've plucked some handy talent in that region before, including Kent and JKH. -
GOODBYE MITCH CLARK
Bang Bang Bang replied to The Song Formerly Known As's topic in Melbourne Demons
Normally I wouldn't begrudge a player leaving the club for greener pastures, but what Clark did was unforgivable. I look forward to his 'comeback' being a spectacular failure. Nobody will be laughing harder than me! -
Read my lips says Josh Mahoney
Bang Bang Bang replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
I'm sure Mahoney and co have been working their backsides off behind the scenes but IMO taking 2, 3 and 23 to the draft is a massive fail. Roos himself said Melbourne supporters can't wait much longer, and he's right. We better nail these picks. History would suggest the chances of BOTH 2 and 3 becoming superstars down the track are slim. At the moment, a 17th or 18th placed finish beckons next year. I'm happy with Garlett and Lumumba, while Hogan should help. But that's not nearly enough to make up ground on our rivals, most of whom have strengthened their lists this week. -
Neil Balme was just on the radio saying the Clark/Lumumba/Varcoe deal was as good as done and that it would be a fairly simple 3-way deal.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - HERITIER LUMUMBA
Bang Bang Bang replied to Moonshadow's topic in Melbourne Demons
How so? Clark hasn't played a good game in over 2 years. Lumumba just finished 4th in the B&F at a club that's streets ahead of us. I would have preferred to keep Clark but the guy is scum and Roos has made the best of a bad situation. -
And what if we hang onto the picks and they become the new Scully and Trengove? Or Sylvia and McLean? We can't afford to put all our faith in 17 year old kids again. Sometimes you just have to bite the bullet. Kennedy is a bonafide star in the prime of his career. Ideally we'd hang onto one of the top picks but to get quality you have to give quality.
-
What's your source? Are you an old mate of Kennedy's or is it from club level? I could probably live with that trade, depending on who the other player is.
-
Thanks for the heads up! I'm skeptical but it does fit in with GNF and CIP's info on the other thread. You may as well tell as what we're giving up.
-
Mixed feelings about this. Obviously, the foot flaring up again would have left a sinking feeling in the stomach for everyone, particularly for Jack himself. The kid deserves some luck! However, I was expecting to wake up this morning with a headline of "Tigers secure Trengove" and pictures of him in a Tigers polo. I wasn't ready to lose him for peanuts. Seeing this would have hurt more. Will be a great footy story when (if) he comes back. The kid has a wonderful attitude, one of the main reasons I didn't want to see the back of him. I'm backing him for 2016 and beyond.

This thread is aptly titled 'Potential Trades', a place where gossip, rumours and innuendo are welcomed. Many of us are interested in what these 'riddles' may mean, and Scythe kindly put forward a fairly rational conclusion to one of them. If you're here purely to trawl through 'something worthwhile', I suggest you come back here on 2pm Thursday.

From what I gather, GNF claimed MC was on a training regime devised by Melbourne FC fitness staff and then (later on) blindsided the club on the back of his doctors' advice. From what I've seen reported in the media and statements from different clubs, that seems fairly close to the mark. Anyway, there must be some serious talent at play here. I'd have Nathan Jones as one of the best 30 players in the competition so the two A-graders in question must be bloody good. I'm talking Dangerfield, Beams good. Not Shiel. Dan Hannebery, maybe?
-
If I was Adelaide I'd rather pick 2, 23 and Trengove (SA boy) over pick 2 and 12. Easily.
-
So we'd essentially be trading picks 2, 3, 23 and Trengove for one player? I love Dangermouse and hope we get him but if that's the price we have to pay then forget it!
-
I would trade pick 2 and 23 for him. That's a bit better than the Lions' offer.
-
I actually wanted us to trade the picks (at least one of them, anyway). I think the problem is that we have tried to trade the picks out, but haven't been able to attract any meaningful offers. Or we have chased young, gun players and been vetoed. I was thoroughly disappointed with the last 10 games and we're very much odds-on to be bottom four again next year, but I think 8 wins should be a realistic target. We were tracking pretty well until the Collingwood game this year.
-
I'd love to be proven wrong but I think today all but closed the book. Mahoney's comments didn't inspire confidence, while Dangerfield himself poured more cold water over it. I wouldn't say it's 100% closed because this has been the wackiest trade week in living memory. IMO our best chance now is to nail pick 2 and 3 in the draft (Brayshaw and Petracca)... somehow find the improvement to win 8+ games next year, then come at Dangermouse with $800,000 a year for 5 years. We'd be doing cartwheels this time next year if that happened.
-
Football Managers like Mahoney are great at avoiding questions and telling white lies, but I thought he was pretty emphatic about Dangerfield. Doesn't sound like it's going to happen. Speculation can now carry on for another 12 months!

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - JEFF GARLETT
Bang Bang Bang replied to Demon3's topic in Melbourne Demons
Garlett is officially a Demon in exchange for pick 61. Bargain!
