  1. That's a great effort, especially as he has been effected by the sub rule in 3/4 games. He'd probably be leading the league otherwise.
  2. We showed after half time that we can play great footy without him, but this still sucks. His defensive pressure had been first rate this year. Who does this open the door for? Toumpas is not really fast enough to play the role. Bail will probably be a mainstay now.
  3. Despite having played all their games in Victoria and three straight at Simonds Stadium, Geelong are 1-3 and looking a shadow their former selves. Mitch backed the wrong horse.
  4. Ross Lyon won't be taking us lightly. When was the last time our club was referred to as 'tenacious'? Love it! The way Freo have been starting games recently, we'll be lucky to get a goal before half time!
  5. It sounds like Roos has worked wonders in terms of team morale since arriving. The skipper is clearly a massive fan. Great to hear.
  6. We did beat the drug cheats last year, don't forget!
  7. And we're playing all of them in the next 5 weeks.
  8. I couldn't think of anything worse than Matt Jones coming in and playing half forward. Bail is a much more logical choice. He has at least shown the ability to tackle hard and kick goals in the past, just like Kent. Matt Jones has shown neither. Grimes for Jetta is easy. I really want to see Toumpas succeed in the AFL, but can't see a spot for him even with injuries starting to mount.
  9. McCartin barely touched it before being subbed out. The commentators were (rightly) saying that it takes big forwards up to 4 years to find their feet. It really puts Hogan's start to the year into perspective. He's a monster.
  10. Gus Brayshaw is a cool dude. http://www.melbournefc.com.au/video/2015-04-25/rd-4-angus-brayshaw-postmatch
  11. He signed an extension last year and is ours until the end of 2017, at least. By then Hawthorn and Fremantle would have had their time in the sun.
  12. 6. Jones 5. Hogan 4. vandenBerg 3. Vince 2. Garlett 1. Michie The ice-cool Christian Salem unlucky to miss out.
  13. Love him! He's having more impact this season than what Petracca would have had, and we can inject Petracca as a new recruit ala Hogan in 2016. Not saying I'm happy Petracca went down injured when he did, but from a team perspective it hasn't worked out too badly. To pluck someone from the Canberra leagues and see them impact AFL games straight away in this manner is rather impressive recruiting...
  14. How about Jonesy's 'banana pass' to Hogan in the first quarter!
  15. Anyone that went and saw him play in the NAB Cup at Etihad, in February 2013, would have known we had a serious player on our hands. But for him to be monstering the best key defender in the game after four games is something else. Who would win? Hogan vs Tommy Mac. Let's hope we never have to find out.
  16. You were right about vandernBerg too. What a beast!
  17. I was at the game. Sat in the Ponsford Stand - we have some really loud, passionate and humorous fans!!! Jesse Hogan is the best young player I've ever seen at this club. And what ever we're paying Paul Roos... it isn't enough. I haven't forgotten how bad we were in 2013. To not only get the side to compete but actually beat opponents and the way we are doing it. Our side is now harder than a cat's head. What a coach.
  18. For me there is one quote in that article that is telling “We are completely open-minded and are following a process where we have a neutral view (on his future) and the door is open,’’ he said. He has one foot out the door, but that's footy. He still has a big role to play in 2015.
  19. 9 changes to the side that played Richmond last year. Out. Pedersen, Riley, Bail, Terlich, Viney, Toumpas, Gawn, Matt Jones, Grimes In. Lumumba, Newton, vandenBerg, Garlett, Kent, Hogan, Jetta, Brayshaw, Michie A different side, a stronger side. And we actually beat them last time (despite 28 scoring shots to 21).
  20. But we can't recruit him until October and by Round 1 next year he'll be three months shy of 29. For me that's too old to be parting with a an early first round pick, which is what Carlton will demand.
  21. He will turn 29 next year. I'd be interested as he's a class act but not at the expense of our first pick.
  22. Robbo: Will Watts play this week? Roos: Absolutely! Bad luck Watts haters. He'll be there Friday night!
  23. Watching 360 now - Roos played a fairly straight bat to Walsh's comments but seemed a bit bemused by them. I have a sneaky feeling that Buckley is not a Walsh fan either. Said something about Scott Burns working with him in past and knowing what he's like - smirk on face and all.
  24. Every team gets injuries. Frost is probably the most replaceable of anyone in the 22. He's athletic, hard at it and versatile. But he is hopeless as a forward (can't kick) and is not needed in defence at the moment. Pedersen has less upside but will be a more than useful replacement.
