Salem has brilliant game sense and poise, compared to Toumpas who has neither. I have defended Toumpas and still hopes he makes it but think it's just not going to happen.

Not running and kicking skills are at Little league level. McDonald is a freak while Stretch, Jones, Brayshaw and Salem are at least doing some right.

Not bizarre at all. He's the 22nd picked player and versatile, capable of making an impact. I think he's a good choice. Hopefully the rocket he needs.

Depressing thread! I think the one that stings the most is Lucas Cook. Pretty much everyone on here wanted Darling at the time and have been proven correct in the worst possible fashion. This is not one where you can use the hindsight argument as it looked clear cut from day 1.

Upon reflection, bringing in McKenzie and playing him as a sub is probably the worst/most baffling thing Roos has done since he got here.

I've watched a few quarters of Casey through the internet feeds this year and I must say Spencer has looked very good. I have always thought that VFL is his level though. Michie - 0 tackles and uncompetitive against Freo. Maybe a bit stiff, but can see the logic. Toumpas back after a quiet game in the VFL is a surprise. Stretch looks really classy from what I've seen. He will almost certainly be the sub. If you had said that we would make 4 unforced changes this week and Watts wouldn't be one of them. I'd have laughed at you.

It's a bit disappointing to see Frost still listed at 4-6.

I still think you're underselling how good Toumpas was thought to be before entering the AFL. It's highly likely Todd Viney knew Wines would be a star but he clearly thought Toumpas would be better. As it turns out, we stuffed that up. But nobody questioned the selection at the time. In fact, most people thought Toumpas was one of the steals of the draft.

It's annoying how the MCG ground announcer doesn't inform the crowd on substitutions. The Melbourne fans in my area saw McKenzie run on and for the best part of 2-3 minutes we were trying to work out who was off. Surely they can just announce it like they used to do.

I have a very vague memory of Garland playing well on Franklin in the past. That leaves TMac free to take on Tippett.

Will Dawes even be available? He must have done his calf on Friday afternoon. Is 8 days enough recovery? I doubt it. I've seen a few people include Riley in their 'Ins'. Not sure that he's any better than McKenzie. His decision making last year was worse.

Let's not forget the Doggies were similarly thrashed by Hawthorn only 2 weeks ago. They bounced back superbly and we have the same opportunity next Saturday night.

I've seen a few people mention Brayshaw's kicking. It's not the most fluent of kicking actions but it gets the job done. Can kick both feet too. He reminds me a bit of Ollie Wines.

Freo reminded me of the 'Monstars' from the movie Space Jam today.

Last year they traded pick 7 for Wiley, Jacksch and pick 19 (Boekhurst). From what I've seen tonight, Wiley and Jacksch are spuds. Boekhurst as a mature-aged recruit has his detractors too.

Both Cooney and Lake were quite flippant in tipping the Dockers on the Footy Show. I don't think other clubs are taking us seriously yet. I don't expect us to win but I give us at least a small chance. If the Dockers are 10% off their game and/or kick inaccurately then it's game on.

Interesting that Toumpas isn't even in the squad. He's coming from a long way back. I think Riley or Pedersen are the best bests to fill the final spot.
