  1. The strangest sense of deja vu everytime I open this thread... exact same people, saying the exact same thing for 221 pages.
  2. Ipso facto... every premiership team is ‘lucky’.
  3. There has to be more to it... a player simply does not drop from pick 2 to unwanted by all in the space of two years. My guess is clubs are being coy and not playing their hand early, waiting to see how low Brisbane is willing to go. A few clubs will pop up with a mid to late first rounder by week’s end... (surely)
  4. Of course- but luck won’t win it for you. The idea that Richmond and the Bulldogs are somehow undeserving or that we should view their premierships as lucky is crazy-sauce. The way the Bulldogs played through September last year and the way Richmond dismembered teams during the finals this year - they could have beaten absolutely anyone. It wasn’t luck- they both simply played amazingly intense, manic football.
  5. I think it was Rawlings that saved him from the scrap heap - convinced Roos to rookie him and turn him into a small defender. Inspiring player.
  6. They must need to relieve some cap pressure. I’d be asking about Hartlett. Was shopped around last year with no takers.
  7. Are you saying pick 21 gets Ablett and pick 25..?
  8. I honestly don't believe that luck can win you a premiership.
  9. Frost v OMac is going to be interesting over the preseason. Frost polled surprisingly well in the BnF for the games he played, but Oscar does seem to be a favourite with the coaches. Good to see a bit of depth developing across the board.
  10. Perhaps if you share your opinion of Oscar 16 more times in the next 48 hours, then we might all get the idea. Then, you can find a new and equally negative and repetitive topic to discuss.
  11. I think you might be confusing Mahoney's role as the spokesperson, for someone who makes all the trade and list decisions in isolation. Traded with Gold Cost for pick 3 - Oliver Traded 2016 pick 9 for 2015 pick 8 Traded with GWS for mini draft pick 2 - Hogan Hibberd for 2nd round - win Melksham for second round - win Colin Sylvia for Vince - win The haemorrhaging of senior players has stopped. Key young players have all signed on. Our playing list is no longer referred to as one of the worst in the history of the competition. Pick 2 and 20 for Tyson, Salem and Hunt was absolutely essential at the time - we needed quantity. It's also not Mahoney that selects the players with those picks. Hunt is a great pick up, Salem and Tyson are serviceable at worst. If we'd gone for Cripps, it would be a clear win.
  12. It is what it is, and we got what we want. The onus is now on Jake and the rest of the players to ensure that next year's first round pick is as close to 18 as possible. 10 and 18 for Lever... not too bad.
  13. He’s inconsistent at best. In addition, 1 goal from 4 grand finals suggests he may not be the cherry on top player we’re looking for.
  14. Had no idea Maynard is so old (26), but he seems to be very highly rated in the club. Glad to hear that Kind has been extended - hopefully he develops over the next couple of years as the cupboard is looking a little bit bare.
  15. Ha! This place was in meltdown, with people were prepping their pitch-forks and torches! 24 hours later, he was declared a genius.
  16. But if we're allowed to invent and praise achievements for players, though they have in fact not achieved that, can't we just say 'Oscar McDonald - Brownlow Medalist'???
  17. Kinda looks that way, but one year is too small a sample. Hopefully he can pull a ‘Jayden Hunt’.
  18. So it would also be fair to assume that as Oscar has been a regular player in his second and third year in the AFL system, that he does in fact ‘belong on an AFL field’.
  19. Is it possible to be a 'future' All Australian??
  20. Terrible player, but I think the headline and quote is a little misleading. His attitude to playing at Casey is terrible and he was never going to survive as an AFL player with that attitude. His case reminds me of Matthew Bate. Was in and out of the Melbourne team, the Bulldogs were very keen to sign him, but Neeld insisted he stay with us as he believed he could develop into a midfielder. One year later - he was cut.
  21. A great community to be part of. Being a long way from home, it’s great to come on here and feel a little bit closer to it.
  22. B&F is all about the role the coaches ask you to play - doesn’t always correspond to who had the ‘best’ year.
  23. Love him! Not bad for a guy we delisted four years ago...
  24. Seems to be a poor man's Tom Scully - lightly built, runs all day (and then some) but not damaging with his ball use. Hawks couldn't possibly be wanting much for him...
  25. This has got to be single most divisive thread I’ve ever read on here. Personally I’m torn and I see a lot of merit in what both sides have to say. My Head says ‘go’ my heart says ‘stay’...
