Very even crop. Not such a bad year to have a handful of second rounders...

It's a bit of a cattle auction, would be mixed emotions for the families.

We could have two Brayshaws by the end of the night...

Jarrod Brander at his family looked devastated when he was named by WCE.

I haven't been following the U18s this year as I spent the majority of the season thinking we'd most likely not have a first or second round pick. Excited to see who we pick up tonight and will enjoy the theatre and hyperbole of it all.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - OSKAR BAKER
TeamPlayedFine39 replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
Everyone looks great on a highlights reel but he looks a good size and has some great speed and lateral movement. We tend to have some pretty close eyes on the Northern Leagues under Taylor. -
Injuries have cruelled Dane Beams- when he’s fit, he’s a class above. Unfortunately for him (and Brisbane) that seems to be a rare occurrence. There’s some very talented, but very, very inconsistent players in the redrawn top 10.

No White for MFC Clash Jumpers for Season 2018
TeamPlayedFine39 replied to Rodney (Balls) Grinter's topic in Melbourne Demons
Thought the jumper with the red back looked great - we played some good footy in that one too. -
The Scrapping of the Bounce is Imminent
TeamPlayedFine39 replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Very disappointed if the bounce goes in this endless pursuit of 'perfection'. Maybe we should consider a round ball as the bounce is more predictable. -
Matt Balmer’s 2017 Final AFL Draft Power Rankings
TeamPlayedFine39 replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
Pretty comprehensive stuff. I think you always need to draft the best available rather than for need. I think we, along with all other clubs, have fallen into that trap before. It is good to see however that Spargo looks like being the best available and filling a need around our 1st-3rd picks. -
Preseason Training - Week commencing 6/11/17

My math may be a little bit shaky, but it looks like a few players have opted to come back early - great to see! -
Top 10 individual seasons last 30 years
TeamPlayedFine39 replied to What's topic in Melbourne Demons
I think Todd Viney’s 1998 often flies under the radar. Captain, All Australian and Best and Fairest in a year we went from wooden spoon to the preliminary final. He was an absolute beast that year and single handedly dragged us over the line in several games. Should comfortably sit about halfway down that list. -
Top 10 individual seasons last 30 years

1995 was an amazing year for Neitz, but I believe it’s something of an urban myth that he was rewarded with All Australian selection whilst playing at center-half-back. In the absence of Schwartz, Lyon and Jakovich, Neita played 1995 at centre-half-forward, with occasional pinch hitting in defence. He kicked goals/behinds in 18 out of his 22 matches and pulled in a pretty handy 140 marks for the year. He played his early years in defence so the story goes that he was AA as a defender and a forward... truth be told, he was a two time AA forward. -

For those who haven't yet had the chance, have a read of his biography 'All bets are off'. It is absolutely compelling, fascinating and tragic reading. It is amazing to read of the utter turmoil in his private life while also forging an AFL career.

For pure excitement - it's Farmer for mine. I think the years may have made many forget how inconsistent and frustrating the Wiz could be as a player, but when he was 'on', there was no one who could match him.

Ron Barassi offered him 1mil to join the Swans in the toilets at the Brownlow. (no matter how many times a rewrite that it still sounds dirty)

This is Hibberd on Lever... just posting as some people on here seem to be lost.

It is what it is and no amount of complaining will change that. Truth be told, I don't care about when we play as long as we win and I'd much rather be a team that flies under the radar, so to speak, than one in the glaring spotlight. On a positive side, whilst we don't get a lot of Friday night matches, we do get the two marque matches that we really wanted. Both these games should pull 80K plus to the MCG. In addition, the short turn around following the ANZAC match against Essendon actually work significantly in our favour. Plenty of matches at our home ground and a few 'away' matches at our home ground is a plus and hopefully we can win at least 3 of the first 4 and use that as a springboard into the year. As some have already said, if we're good enough, we'll win.

Ps. I disapprove of you new pic. I checked my notifications and saw one from you... almost pooped.

The we should definitely not be offering Hogan another contract.

The majority of the matches he’s missed in that time though are because he was playing at Casey. Jamar kept him out of the team for the better part of six years. When Gawn did get a run during that time, it was playing mainly as a deep forward.
