WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - HARLEY BENNELL
DistrACTION Jackson replied to Tinks's topic in Melbourne Demons
Worth a punt for nothing on a 1 year contract. What do we have to lose? -
The 2019 Draft and Trade Targets Thread
DistrACTION Jackson replied to Nascent's topic in Melbourne Demons
I like the effort put in, but what makes you think Gold Coast will rade Jack Martin for pick 16? He is worth a pick around 10, so it would be unlikely they accept that. Zak Jones and Langdon is definetly realistic. -
The 2019 Draft and Trade Targets Thread
DistrACTION Jackson replied to Nascent's topic in Melbourne Demons
We went hard at the draft for 3 years in a row. Brayshaw, Oliver, Petracca, Weideman all top 10 picks. My view is if we end up with pick 2 we use it on Anderson or Rowell. Anything above that I'd be looking at a pick swap option, for example: our first rounder plus second for Brad Hill & their first round pick. -

The 2019 Draft and Trade Targets Thread

What about Sam Day as a free agent? Big bodied KPF who could be forward/back up ruck. TMac then plays high half forward and Weid third tall. -
These last 5 weeks is the perfect time to play him with Gawn to see if they can build a good partnership. I'd also like to see Gawn wrapped in cotton wool and Pruess play out the season as our sole ruck.

I find it frustrating that as a side we used to have so many exciting indigenous and irish players. Farmer, Jurrah, Davey, Woenamirri, Stynes, Wight etc. We don't seem to pick any players like that anymore.... our side lacks imagination and x factor. Look at the Eagles yesterday! Riolo, Ryan, Cameron, Jetta....

The AFL wants to reduce tackling
DistrACTION Jackson replied to Ethan Tremblay's topic in Melbourne Demons
There is one change they can make that will solve all their problems. Reduce the interchange cap to 10 per quarter. Players will then have to play more to a position and there would be a lot less rolling scrums resulting in less tackles because there isn't 12-15 players all around a stoppage. We don't need the 6-6-6 rule, that's all they need to do. Back in the 70's and 80's the interchange was more used as a substitute, with players on the been playing very few minutes. If they want to have more 1 on 1 contests then that is the answer. -
It was more in response to someone saying Petty is better after one game against a Dogs side that I really don't think is that great....

Forgetting Weids 3 goal game in an elimination final?
-
This has been the year from hell, with a terrible pre-season, consistent injuries and extremely poor form resulting in the disaster we have right now. My silver lining: - Marty Hore looks a solid player - Oskar Baker could be a great wing option - Harry Petty looks to be a great key position prospect at just 19 - Hunt has got back in some good form - We will most likely have a pick between 2-4 - We will get an easier draw next season We better put any players with niggling injuries in for surgery early so we can actually get a full pre-season or I'll be [censored].....

I don't want to McDonald bash.... but he just doesn't look like it at the moment. No confidence at all. -

I'm liking the look of Jordon. Very raw, but you can see as he starts to put on size and get an AFL body he could be a very good player. -
I'd be all for going for both and offering Stephen a 1 year deal given his injury history. I just think the media make up whatever they think could happen. I could sit there and think of scenarios all day haha

WELCOME TO DEMONLAND KYLE DUNKLEY

That's awesome -
Curely they just make this stuff up and are guessing getting Stephen Hill is a sweetner....
-
Unrestricted free agent so we can just pick him up if he wants.

If we end up with say pick 5 or 6, what would people think about trading it to Freo for Hill, Langdon and their 2nd round pick?

2019 Contracts and List Details
DistrACTION Jackson replied to Lucifers Hero's topic in Melbourne Demons
I'd be moving on the following: Garlett, Lewis, Maynard, Stretch, J Wagner, Keilty, T Smith. -
100% agree with this and nice to see some measured commentary. I really don't think we need to trade any of Oliver, Viney, Harmes, Petracca or Brayshaw. What we do need to do is 1)get them all through a full pre-season and 2) bring in some high presssure/skilled players. A backline of Lever, May, Frost, Hore, Hibberd and Jetta is one of the best in the league. With Melksham back and McDonald back in form our forward line is solid enough. Probably need another high pressure forward.
